The Primordial Devourer : Rise of a nobody
Chapter 67 - throne game
Chapter 67: Chapter 67 - throne game
Then I added Azera to our team.
The moment I confirmed our participation, the surroundings changed.
A strange sensation enveloped my body, and before I could react, the entire world around us disappeared.
When I regained full awareness, the first thing I did was search for Nyx.
I immediately found her nearby and moved to her side, looking around carefully to understand our current situation.
Nyx did the same, her eyes scanning our surroundings as she tried to figure out where we had been transported.
The place was filled with people.
More accurately, it was filled with different races.
Some looked similar to humans, while others had appearances that I couldn’t recognize at all. There were creatures with unusual features and others whose appearances were completely different from anything I had seen before.
Damn, how many races are there in this Tower?
It seemed that every time I thought I had seen everything, the Tower introduced something new.
However, my attention soon shifted toward a familiar group.
Demons.
The moment I spotted them, a grin appeared on my face.
And then I saw the elves.
My grin widened.
Oh, this is getting interesting.
I leaned closer to Nyx and whispered my plan to her.
She listened quietly, and by the time I finished explaining, a smile had appeared on her face as well.
"You are so evil, Asher."
I grinned back at her.
"Hmm. You know me. Let’s show them what a hero looks like."
Nyx laughed softly at my words.
At that moment, Azera approached us, looking between the two of us with confusion.
She had probably noticed our suspicious expressions, but before she could ask anything, the game officially began.
A system message appeared before us.
[Welcome to the Game of Thrones.]
I raised an eyebrow.
Game of Thrones?
That name sounded rather interesting.
Before I could think about it any further, additional information appeared.
[One person must remain on each team’s throne.]
[The other members must protect the person occupying the throne.]
I stared at the instructions.
Then I tilted my head slightly.
"Ah, but protect the person from whom?"
Nyx shrugged.
"I don’t know."
We looked at each other.
Then, almost simultaneously, we turned toward Azera.
A smile appeared on both our faces.
Azera froze.
She looked at us, then at the throne, and finally back at us.
Something about our expressions seemed to make her uncomfortable.
"What are you two planning?"
We didn’t answer.
Instead, we grabbed her and brought her toward the throne.
Before she could properly react, we had already placed her on it.
I stepped back and examined her for a moment.
"Hmm. You fit in here."
Azera’s eyes twitched.
"You... you two are exactly the same!"
I shrugged.
"Thanks for the compliment. Now, let’s see our so-called opponents."
Azera looked as though she wanted to argue further, but there wasn’t much time before the game progressed.
As we continued examining our surroundings, a space barrier opened before us.
Our opponents appeared on the other side.
The moment I saw them, I clicked my tongue.
Nyx did the same.
"Ahh, there goes our plan."
Azera looked between us.
"What plan?"
I glanced at her.
"You’re too young to know about these things."
Her expression immediately darkened.
"Hey! Stop treating me like a child!"
She stamped her foot against the floor, clearly irritated by the way we were treating her.
Nyx and I simply shrugged.
I wasn’t sure why she was so angry. We were only trying to make sure she stayed on the throne.
Wasn’t that a good thing?
Anyway, there was no point wasting time arguing.
I summoned my sword.
Darkness spread across its surface, carrying traces of the demonic essence I had absorbed from the demon I killed earlier.
The familiar energy flowed through the weapon, giving it a sinister appearance.
I looked toward our opponents.
Since the rules had separated the teams into different groups, we couldn’t interfere with the other battles. Each group would have to deal with its own opponents.
Unfortunately, our opponents had more people than we did.
I clicked my tongue again.
What a troublesome bunch.
Still, I wasn’t particularly worried.
Numbers alone didn’t mean much if the people using them were weak.
I stepped forward and attacked the nearest opponent.
However, the moment my sword met his weapon, I realized something was different.
The person standing before me had wings.
He managed to block my attack, and before I could follow up, another one of his followers attacked me from the side.
I immediately used Space to retreat, putting some distance between myself and the two opponents.
My eyes narrowed slightly.
Oh? So they’re not completely useless.
I looked at the winged man who had blocked my sword, then turned toward Nyx.
"Hey, Nyx! Look at that chicken guy. He’s their leader, so we should kill him first. After that, we can clean up the rest."
Nyx’s eyes twitched.
"That’s a..."
She looked at the winged man again, apparently trying to remember something.
Meanwhile, a voice suddenly came from behind us.
"Hey! Help me! They’re attacking me! I can’t get up from here!"
I glanced in that direction, but Nyx interrupted before I could respond.
"Wait a minute! I need to remember what race that guy belongs to. If you don’t want me to identify him, Asher, at least stop calling him a chicken!"
Azera’s eyes twitched violently.
She looked toward the winged man, then at Nyx and me.
Oh, Mom. Dad. At this rate, I’m never going to meet you again.
She took a deep breath before speaking.
"That’s an angel, you fool! He’s not a chicken!"
I blinked.
"Oh."
Nyx’s expression suddenly changed as she remembered.
"Ah, right! That’s an angel!"
I looked at the winged man again.
"Hmm. He looks pretty lame compared to Lucifer."
Nyx’s eyes twitched.
"Of course he does! Lucifer is an archangel, a higher-tier angel, and a fallen one at that!"
I nodded as though I had learned something important.
So this guy isn’t Lucifer. What a disappointment.
The angel had been listening to our conversation.
At first, he seemed confused by our behavior. Then he realized that we were casually comparing him to Lucifer while repeatedly calling him a chicken.
His expression twisted with anger.
It was almost as though flames were about to burst from his eyes.
"You two! I will kill you!"
He shouted an order to his companions, the lesser angels accompanying him.
I grinned.
Then I glanced toward Nyx and gave her a signal.
She immediately understood.
I raised my hand and summoned numerous water bubbles into the air, sending them toward our opponents.
The angels looked at the incoming bubbles.
One of them was struck directly.
However, nothing seemed to happen.
They exchanged glances before laughing at the seemingly harmless attack.
I watched them with a grin.
Go ahead. Laugh all you want.
The next moment, Nyx acted.
She used her elemental power to freeze the water droplets suspended in the air, transforming them into countless frozen bullets.
Before the angels could properly react, the frozen projectiles shot toward them.
Their wings were pierced, and several of them suffered heavy injuries.
However, none of them died.
The angel leading the group became even more furious.
He rushed toward me with a spear in his hand.
I grinned as I summoned a spear of my own and coated it with Space.
Then I glanced toward Azera.
"Hey, can you become my mount for a moment? It would make this scene much cooler. Imagine two knights riding horses and charging toward each other!"
Azera’s eyes twitched.
"Over my dead body!"
I raised both hands.
"Okay, okay! Don’t get so angry. If you can’t do it, just say so. There’s no need to yell."
Nyx looked at our exchange and smiled.
However, for the briefest moment, a trace of sadness appeared in her eyes.
Before anyone could notice it, she concealed the expression and returned to her usual composure.
Meanwhile, the angel had already reached me.
Our spears collided.
Clang!
A violent clash rang out as the weapons met, and powerful shockwaves spread through the surrounding area.
I didn’t retreat.
Instead, I pushed forward, reinforcing my attack with my physical strength and Space affinity.
The pressure between our weapons increased as I continued forcing him backward.
Then I coated my spear with Aura and black flame.
The dark fire spread across the weapon, mixing with the power of Space and making the attack even more dangerous.
At the final moment, I released my grip.
The spear transformed into a scythe.
Its blade swept toward the angel, cutting through one of his wings.
"AAAAARGH!"
The angel screamed in agony as he staggered backward.
"You bastard! I’ll kill you for this! You’ll beg me for mercy!"
I grinned at him.
"Oh, really? Then I suppose I should kill you before you get the chance to do anything to me."
I tightened my grip on the scythe.
"That’s the rule, isn’t it? The survivor wins, and the loser dies. So this isn’t my death."
My grin widened.
"It means yours."
I summoned a dagger from my slime and plunged it into his body.
Light energy began gathering around the angel, and I noticed the strange energy reappearing around him.
I narrowed my eyes.
"Hmm. Interesting."
Instead of immediately stepping away, I moved closer and touched him.
Then I released all the darkness I could gather into his body.
The angel’s expression changed instantly.
His body convulsed as the darkness invaded him, and a scream of agony escaped his mouth.
I watched him closely, observing his reaction.
Let’s see what happens when you receive a little darkness.
