Chapter 39: Chapter 39 - training

I woke up naturally, washed up, put on my uniform, and got out of the room.

I saw Nyx waiting for me so I clutched her student ID in my hand and went to her side. "Good morning, Nyx."

She looked at me, and once she saw me her eyes lit up a little and her face bloomed into a small smile, and she greeted me back.

"Good morning, Asher."

I went close to her and extended her student ID to her. "Here’s your ID. I already registered us."

"Your resources and merit points you’ll receive the usual way."

She nodded and took the card, and I put on an evil smile and said, "Aren’t you worried I used your student ID and entered your room?"

"After all, I’m a boy. When a beautiful female student is living all alone, a male hooligan might come at night." I said it with an exaggerated tone.

She looked at me and laughed. "Oh, you mean now you are a hooligan, right?"

I coughed and said, "That’s not the point."

She continued to laugh and said, "Oh, don’t worry about that. I can handle that hooligan."

Then she came close to me. Too close.

My face heated up, and I backed down, and she saw that and pointed a finger at me. "See? That hooligan only talks, no work."

I got annoyed and embarrassed at the same time, then I turned toward the cafeteria and left while grumbling, "You pay for me."

She looked at my figure, who kept walking while grumbling, and teased, "Oh, what? Isn’t that normal now? When did you ever pay?"

I didn’t say anything. She put on a smile and followed me to the cafeteria, and I got a big plate and filled it up as usual. I picked the most appealing things for me.

And I let Nyx just pay and looked at my account, which has over 20k, and just sighed.

"What are you even saving those merit points for? You know when we clear the 10th floor those points are useless, right?"

I nodded and said, "But still, money is money. Before I leave here, I’ll spend every single point in here."

She just looked at me and said, "But you just spread all the money to those kids. Then didn’t you think those were money?"

I just scratched my head awkwardly and said, "Ah, about that."

"They need that money more than I ever could. I can get that money anytime in one job, but for those kids it’s a massive fortune, and that money belonged to those trash."

"Those kids deserve it."

Nyx looked at my face and nodded with a warm smile, and we went to class, took a seat, and waited for Miss Selena in the class.

And after a few moments Miss Selena entered the room and looked at the whole classroom.

She saw Nyx and me and nodded and began her class. She taught us more about mana.

I listened to her explanation, and most of it was things I had already figured out, but I learned some new things as well.

And after a few hours the class was finally over, and we two got out of the class, and Miss Selena went to her other work.

Then we exited the room, and Nyx said, "I don’t think we need to go to combat class."

I raised an eyebrow and asked, "Oh? Why is that?"

She looked at me like she was looking at an idiot and said, "Do you even want to ask why? You are too strong now for those people, and it’s useless for us to go."

I nodded and asked, "So what do you think we should do?"

She thought too and said, "How about we go to a training room and train? Let’s go to another floor next week."

I nodded and said, "That’s a good idea. Let’s go."

Then we came to the training halls, and I saw the same person I met last time when I trained my archery skills.

So I put on a bright smile, went to his side, and asked for the best training room.

He looked at me. "Ah, kid. Aren’t you the kid who tried to rip me off last time?"

I looked at him with wide eyes. "Hey, don’t slander me. I’m an honest man who never cheated other people."

Beside me, Nyx couldn’t hold her laughter anymore. Her shoulders were shaking.

And the man in charge of this place looked at me, his eyes twitching. "That’s the exact same line people say before trying to rip off others."

I smiled and said, "It’s not a rip-off. I just thought because we know each other, you could give us a small discount."

He pointed at me. "I knew it. You sly kid, up to no good."

Then he looked at Nyx and said, "See? This guy is a total scammer. Don’t get fooled by his sugary words."

Nyx gave him an awkward smile and said, "He rips me off too."

His mouth twitched hard, and he looked at me. "Kid, you are something else. You even rip off the person beside you."

I looked at them both and said, "She’s exaggerating it. I only ate about a few meals from her."

Nyx mumbled quietly, "More like all the meals you eat at the academy."

I looked at her and refused immediately. "No. I ate one yesterday night with my money."

The man, who thought the girl was really exaggerating things, looked at me standing proudly and said, "So you didn’t pay for any of them before. Ahh, why am I even asking? Here, pay for the room. No discount, no matter how much you ask."

I looked at Nyx, and she just sighed and paid.

His eyes twitched again, but he didn’t say anything and let us go.

I just put on a bright smile and followed her while saying, "Stingy old man."

He didn’t say anything, because he doesn’t want to continue the conversation.

And Nyx and I entered the room, and she took her sword and aimed at me.

I immediately took my sword as well and went for the fight.

I struck a clear slash at her. She blocked it, but I moved into my next attack immediately, and we dealt blows with each other. I used mana on my sword to get more proficient with it. Our battle continued nonstop.

I tried to exploit her openings, but then I realized those openings were all traps she set up for her next move.

So I went with my full strength and exchanged blows with each other, but then she took the offensive. I’m in a defensive position.

My body is augmented with mana.

And she is too. We are evenly matched. I began to give her faint movements to exploit so I could get a handle on the battle, but she didn’t take those. She kept her calmness and attacked me at a steady pace.

It was getting exciting, so I pushed myself and increased my speed and tried to change my sword movements differently.

I added more faint blows to my sword art, and finally we finished our sword training. I’m tired as hell.

Nyx too said she is exhausted, because we didn’t use any element, only mana, and we didn’t let either of us take the lead.

And we decided to end the training for today, and we returned to our rooms to take a shower.

"Hey, how about we meet in about an hour and go eat dinner?"

She looked at me and asked, "Are you asking for a date?"

I grinned and said, "What if I am? Will you come?"

She raised an eyebrow and said, "As long as you pay."

My eyes widened, and I said, "About that..."

She laughed, and I immediately said, "Ah, fine. I’m paying. Will you come out for a date?"

Her laughter stopped mid-laugh. She raised an eyebrow and asked, "To the cafeteria?"

I looked at her and nodded. "Hey, don’t look down on the cafeteria. That place has fed me a lot."

She smirked and said, "More like you robbed the place."

I just waved a hand and said, "Those are technical issues. Don’t mind them. I pay and eat as much as I can. They are the ones who said I can eat as much as I want."

She laughed again and said, "You almost got banned from there two times because of how much you eat there and they were at a loss."

I grinned at that and said, "It’s not my problem. They are poor losers who can’t keep their word."

She nodded while smiling and waved at me.

Then we both waved goodbye at each other.

"See you in a hour nyx I’m waiting"

"See you in hour Asher."

I entered our rooms, and as soon as I entered I went to the washroom and took a nice shower slowly.
