The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend

Chapter 1063 - Core Race Ideals of the Ancient Dragon Clan

By the time the man returned from making his report, the Tyrannosaurus Rex had been beaten so badly that large patches of scales had fallen off.

Normally, a Microcosm life form could heal that kind of damage in seconds. However, Veritas was devious in that it had infected the wounds with Wicked Energy, preventing recovery and causing intense pain. The Tyrannosaurus Rex dared not try another taunt while under that level of torment.

The man’s face darkened at the sight of his beloved unit, but he knew his Tyrannosaurus Rex’s personality well enough to guess it had brought this on itself by running its mouth.

Thus, despite being displeased, he kept a poker face and simply recalled the Tyrannosaurus Rex into his divine realm.

“Honored guest, the patriarch invites you in,” he said to Han Wu. “Please follow me.”

Han Wu nodded and followed him into the Ancient Dragon Clan’s hidden realm.

Inside was an entirely new world.

Great Dragons of every type soared freely through the sky. There were Great Poison Dragons trailing purple mist, Great Wind Dragons wrapped in cyan wind blades, and even a two-headed Great Dragon. The sheer diversity left Han Wu shocked.

His arrival drew attention from clan members and Great Dragons alike. The dragon scent on Han Wu was slightly unusual compared to a pureblooded Great Dragon, but his Defier aura was unmistakable.

Even more eye-catching were the Great Dragons following behind him. Five of them radiated the aura of a Dragon King. The royal authority rolling off them was undeniably heavy.

An elder with graying hair stood atop a Two-Headed Demonic Dragon to greet Han Wu. As his gaze swept over Han Wu and the Great Dragons behind him, his eyes flashed with surprise.

This was Long Lie, the patriarch of the Ancient Dragon Clan. His strength had reached the peak of the Mesocosm rank, and his core race, the Two-Headed Demonic Dragon, allowed him to hold off even Macrocosm fighters for a time.

Han Wu and his Great Dragons didn’t seem to have the bond that Gods and their units typically shared. In other words, the Great Dragons weren’t contractually bound to him through the usual unit system, yet they followed behind him with absolute loyalty. That alone spoke volumes about their respect.

Long Lie’s curiosity about Han Wu deepened.

“You must be Han Wu,” the elder said warmly, approaching the group. “Our ancestor mentioned you when he returned from the Wealth Faction’s event.”

“I’m Han Wu. May I ask your name?” Han Wu responded politely.

“Long Lie, patriarch of the Ancient Dragon Clan.”

“Patriarch Long Lie. It is an honor to meet you.”

“Our ancestor said you’d come, but after a month of waiting, he went back into seclusion. We’ve notified him of your arrival. He should emerge in about seven days. In the meantime, please stay with us and enjoy what the Ancient Dragon Clan can offer.”

Han Wu quickly said it was no trouble. After all, he’d been the one to put off the visit after accepting the invitation. He had spent two months comprehending the Void Jurisdiction instead of coming right away. The clan was already plenty generous for not holding that against him.

Following Long Lie to the guest hall, where many clan members were already waiting. Once Han Wu took his seat, small Wyverns carried platters of food for Han Wu and his Great Dragons. ℯℯ𝑙.

During the meal, Han Wu noticed the Ancient Dragon Clan ate alongside their dragons. The Great Dragons’ enormous appetites meant their portions were massive. Some dishes towered over Han Wu himself.

He ate a small amount and was soon full. Meanwhile, his dragons kept going without stopping. Eventually, a clan member asked about Han Wu’s core race.

“Locusts,” Han Wu answered honestly.

The room went silent.

Every clan member stared. Even the Great Dragons stopped eating. It was extraordinary that someone with locusts as their core race had earned their ancestor’s recognition and invitation.

The clan members peppered him with questions well into the evening. Han Wu shared his story and also learned about the Ancient Dragon Clan in turn.

Surprisingly, the clan placed great importance on a member’s core race. They used it as the primary criterion for deciding who received the clan’s full support.

The Ancient Dragon Clan had many members, but few had Great Dragons as their core race. Even with their pure bloodlines, fewer than ten percent of the clan’s offspring were born with a Great Dragon core race. Bloodline influence meant most members’ core races were at least related to dragons, though, and most got Drakes instead.

For those whose core race wasn’t even a Drake, they wouldn’t receive any resources, regardless of how noble their birth.

Han Wu thought of the muscular man who’d escorted him in. Despite being Long Qi’s direct descendant, his Tyrannosaurus Rex core race meant he’d been relegated to guarding the perimeter. He wasn’t even allowed inside the hidden realm unless he had a specific reason.

Han Wu felt a pang of sympathy. He didn’t agree with a system that judged a person’s worth by their core race. Still, this was the Ancient Dragon Clan’s internal affairs, and he had no business interfering, so he kept his thoughts to himself.

After several rounds of drinks and courses of food, the slightly tipsy Patriarch Long Lie glanced over at Han Wu and his Great Dragons. “Young Han Wu, our clan will be holding our annual Great Dragon Championship soon. Are you interested in joining?”
