Han Wu ran at blistering speed. The wind battered Jia Gui’s face until it felt like his skin was off.

“Slow down, brother Han Wu,” Jia Gui begged, holding his cheeks together.

“Deal with it,” Han Wu said sharply.

Jia Gui didn’t dare argue.

Han Wu locked onto the coordinates. As he burst into range, he found the Life God King celebrating with his senior officers.

The Life God King had already considered this battle won. With 15.3 billion Huang Shengjuns, he could fight the entire Divine Civilization, let alone one faction.

When Han Wu and Jia Gui appeared out of thin air, the Life God King’s first reaction was disbelief. How had Han Wu gotten in? He had been monitoring his territory the entire time and sensed nothing. His second thought was to leave. Not because he feared Han Wu, but because victory was moments away and he didn’t want to waste time fighting.

Han Wu didn’t give him the chance. He activated the Slaughter Jurisdiction’s effect, and the Slaughter Barrier materialized!

Terrifying pressure erupted from Han Wu. The landscape transformed into one of corpse mountains and a sea of blood. The Life God King and every Major God in the vicinity were sealed inside.

There were three ways out. Han Wu could release the barrier voluntarily, they could defeat Han Wu, or one of them could use a barrier-breaking technique.

None of the people trapped inside had the third option.

All of them turned to stare at Han Wu.

Seeing this, Jia Gui immediately hopped off Han Wu’s shoulder with ease and scanned the area with shifty eyes. He practically had “I’m weak, please don’t hit me” tattooed on his forehead. Everyone ignored him and focused on Han Wu.

Han Wu took control of the Slaughter Barrier. Corpses rose from the mountains, weapons coalesced from the blood sea; finally, an army of the dead grabbed whatever was closest and charged. The Major Gods drew their Divine Weapons and cut through the corpses with ease. The corpses were too weak to fight against the Major Gods, and the ease of the kills had the Major Gods dropping their guard.

That was, until one of the supposedly defeated corpses behind a Major God suddenly stood, driving a blood-forged dagger into his back. Every fallen corpse around him sprang up and piled on. Over a hundred of them hacked that Major God to pieces.

That was when the Life Faction realized that the dead didn’t stay dead inside the Slaughter Barrier. It didn’t matter what they did. Even burning them to ash couldn’t stop Han Wu’s energy from rebuilding them instantly.

All eyes turned to Han Wu. The only way to stop the corpses for good was to kill him.

One confident Major God charged, swinging his Divine Weapon in a devastating strike. Han Wu drew Peerless and cut him down with a casual swing.

An unarmed Han Wu was one thing, but wielding Peerless, he was something else entirely. The other Major Gods realized this after they saw their comrade die.

The Life God King narrowed his eyes. Han Wu was stronger than he had imagined, but he wasn’t afraid. After all, even the Death God King couldn’t kill him. Han Wu stood no chance. As long as he was alive, he would find a way to win. That was the truth he had lived by for ages.

Stepping forward, the Life God King smiled warmly. “Young Han Wu, we meet again. I knew you were talented the first time I saw you, but the Death Faction led you astray. Their faction is about to be destroyed. A strong, reliable faction is what you need going forward. The wise adapt to the times. I’m sure you understand. I formally invite you to join the Life Faction. I promise you a position second only to myself. Do you accept?”

The Life God King believed the offer of maximum respect and power would make Han Wu see reason and switch sides.

However, he had underestimated Han Wu. Han Wu knew he had too many enemies. Even if the Life Faction accepted him, the War Faction wouldn’t. Not to mention the fact that he had sabotaged the Nine-Eyed Evil God many times over and had even killed half of the Destruction Clan members.

Moreover, the Death Faction had treated him well, and their values aligned. He would never betray them over a few pretty words and an empty promise.

“I accept.” Han Wu paused to beam at the Life God King. “You wish.”

The Life God King’s warm expression crumbled. Han Wu was clearly determined to be difficult. So be it. We’ll be enemies.

With that, the Life God King unleashed his full Divine Authority. Unlike the conventional weapon-shaped Authority, his took the form of an enormous World Tree radiating boundless Life Energy. It could heal any wound he received in real time.

He then revealed the rest of his arsenal.

[Divine Talent: Life Bloom. Boosts all life-related powers by 1,000%.]

[Divine Ability: Life Transfer. Allows the user to absorb Life Energy from allies or channel it to them.]

[Life Jurisdiction: Life Aura, Life Vestments, Reanimation, Staff of Life, Resurrection.]

Layered together, the Life God King was an absurdly durable tank with near-infinite regeneration. He was confident that Han Wu couldn’t kill him, even if he stood still and let him attack. Even if Han Wu somehow managed it, Resurrection would simply bring him back at full strength.

There was nothing Han Wu could possibly do.
