The Ocean's Little Tyrant: A Mermaid Baby Conquers the 80s
Chapter 476 - 451: Ninth Birthday 2
Then there were Yun Sui, Yun Xiaohua, and a few other children who had grown up with Yun Jiao.
The killer whales, long since ready, lined up in a neat row.
Everyone climbed onto the killer whales’ backs one by one.
"Hurry, hurry! Jiaojiao, give the signal to start!"
Yun Xiaowu was already getting impatient.
Yun Jiao reminded them, "Be careful, all of you. If it gets to be too much, just let go. I’ll come and get you."
"Don’t worry."
Even Yun Sui was a decent swimmer.
Yun Jiao held a whistle.
As she blew it, the killer whales shot forward, carrying the children with them.
"AHHH... HAHAHAHA..."
From screaming to wild laughter—that was definitely Yun Xiaowu.
The others were, of course, all yelling and whooping too.
Kids from the countryside were bold and loved these kinds of thrilling games.
Sun Yaoqin wanted to go too, but unfortunately, she wasn’t a good swimmer.
"WOOHOO!!!"
Yun Jiao was also in the sea now, her speed even faster than the killer whales’. In the blink of an eye, she was gone from sight.
"This is great. If I were a few years younger, I’d love to play like this too."
After all, racing on the backs of killer whales wasn’t something just anyone could do. Only Yun Jiao had the ability to make killer whales act as their mounts.
Mr. Hu patted his stomach. "Who wouldn’t? But even without the killer whales, didn’t Jiaojiao say the Humpback Whales would take us for a ride? I wonder when our turn is."
He was already looking forward to it.
The killer whales came back after making a wide loop.
But there weren’t many people still hanging onto their backs.
The rest had lost their grip and fallen into the sea.
Yun Jiao appeared in an instant.
Trailing behind the killer whale group was a Humpback Whale.
And the ones who had fallen into the sea were now all on the Humpback Whale’s back.
"Dad, Mom, we’re over here! Hahaha..."
Even though they’d fallen off the killer whales, they weren’t disappointed in the slightest.
Did you see that? They were riding on the back of a Humpback Whale!
Yun Xiaowu: "That was awesome! Little sister, let’s go again!"
Yun Jiao refused.
"No, I still need to let the others have a turn with the Humpback Whale."
"That’s right! You young ones have had your fun, but us old folks haven’t had our turn yet."
Yun Xiaowu: "Fine. I get to ride the Humpback Whale anyway."
’Two different experiences, hehe. We still got the better deal.’
Yun Jiao used her song to summon the Humpback Whales.
The killer whales followed along as well.
Her godmother, Wang Yun, recorded the scene with her camera.
’So beautiful! My goddaughter is simply a spirit of the sea!’
Ever since the signs of the Merfolk appeared on her, Yun Jiao’s singing had possessed a special quality.
The voice of the Merfolk could bewitch and create illusions.
If Yun Jiao sang a specific song, like one about longing for one’s hometown, everyone would be drawn into their own fondest childhood memories.
If she sang a song about love, the listeners would be transported into the most beautiful memories of love in their lives.
A sad song would make people weep, while a battle hymn would boost morale.
But the song Yun Jiao was singing now was one the Mermaid Clan used specifically to communicate with and summon their ocean companions.
So, everyone just found it very beautiful and somewhat trance-inducing.
The Humpback Whales arrived.
Yun Jiao had built a pier here.
Everyone just had to go to the pier and then jump onto the backs of the Humpback Whales.
There were quite a few people, so several Humpback Whales were present.
Those standing on the back of a Humpback Whale for the first time were excited, thrilled, and in disbelief.
Plenty of people had been on boats.
But very few, if any, had ever ridden a Humpback Whale.
At Yun Jiao’s direction, the Humpback Whales began to swim around.
They went to see the schools of fish in the sea.
The fishermen, like Yun Linhai, could only curse themselves for not bringing their nets!
They also saw schools of shrimp and more...
Actually, if it were possible, Yun Jiao would have liked to take them to see the ocean floor.
Unfortunately, only a few of them could hold their breath for long enough.
And the current diving equipment wasn’t advanced enough.
So, playing in the deep sea would have to wait for another time.
It was dinnertime by the time they returned to the island.
Yun Jiao had brought up a lot of expensive and rare ingredients from the seabed, making Chef Hu grin from ear to ear.
A chef’s greatest joy is fresh, delicious ingredients.
They had a barbecue for dinner. Everyone pitched in, grilling and eating, chatting away in a very lively atmosphere.
"Happy ninth birthday to Jiaojiao!"
At the end, everyone raised their glasses—the younger ones drinking juice—and toasted each other.
As the guest of honor, Yun Jiao was naturally beaming with happiness.
In the end, she even had a gift prepared for everyone.
Um... they were the leftover dinosaur bones she had picked up from the trench.
There were also little animals of the twelve zodiac signs made from seashells and pretty stones.
Her fourth brother had helped her make those.
The boys, like Yun Xiaowu and Yun Xiaoqi, clearly preferred the bones.
Yun Jiao said, "Fifth Brother, you guys could shape the bones into swords. That would be so cool."
Yun Xiaowu’s eyes lit up. "Great idea! Fourth Brother!"
Yun Chenbei: "..."
The other boys ran over to him too.
These bones, shaped into daggers or swords and then polished, would indeed look very nice, exuding a powerful aura.
What boy could refuse such a weapon?
Never mind the boys; many of the girls present were tempted too.
The bones Yun Jiao had picked out were, at most, a little longer than a forearm, making them easy to carry.
The shorter ones were just a bit longer than a hand.
Some were suitable for being polished into swords, while others were good for making crafts.
Everyone got to pick the one they liked.
Having been soaked in the sea for so long, the bones had long since lost any smell of decay.
They did have a fishy sea smell when first brought up, but after some special treatment, that smell was gone too.
Finally, the group of guests left by boat, completely satisfied.
The host and guests all enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
Yun Jiao was another year older.
Sun Yaotong and his family didn’t go back; they stayed on the island.
There were plenty of houses on the island anyway, so the parents, like Shen Yunlian, helped arrange rooms for them.
Waking up the next day, opening the curtains to the view of the sea and the island landscape, they felt completely refreshed and invigorated.
