The Ocean's Little Tyrant: A Mermaid Baby Conquers the 80s
Chapter 472 - 449: Surprise Before the Birthday
These bones weren’t exactly easy to assemble.
They had to identify bones from different parts of the body, link the scattered pieces together, and then find a way to support the whole structure.
Eventually, even Mr. Mu came to help.
Ying Chengye was skilled at identifying bones, while Mr. Mu and Yun Chenbei were in charge of linking them all together and building the support structures.
The principle was the same as building a house, which was something they were familiar with.
However, they couldn’t use glue to connect the bones. It wasn’t reliable enough. The bones were too large and heavy for any adhesive to support them.
They would have to use things like screws.
Unfortunately, many of the bones didn’t fit together.
So, whenever she had free time after school, Yun Jiao had no choice but to return to the trench to collect more bones.
Yun Linhai and Yun Linhe were both eager to help, pointing out that they could bring back a lot of bones if they went by boat.
And so, they went with Yun Jiao.
They didn’t run into the giant Octopus today.
That was because four days ago, the giant Octopus had actually ambushed Yun Jiao as she was bringing bones to the surface.
Octopuses are very intelligent. Their brains are large, and they have more than one.
After quietly figuring out Yun Jiao’s routine for visiting the trench, it had laid an ambush for her on her way back.
It was quite the grudge-holder.
But for all its cleverness, it had clearly underestimated Yun Jiao.
Yun Jiao had taught it a harsh lesson that time, even breaking one of its tentacles. When the Octopus realized it couldn’t win, it had quickly chosen to flee.
Yun Jiao was carrying bones at the time, so she hadn’t bothered to chase it.
They hadn’t seen the big Octopus for the past two days, and it was possible it had moved away.
Arriving at the bottom of the trench once more, Yun Jiao gathered a good number of bones and brought them up to the surface.
They loaded as many as they could onto the boat.
"There are so many... Just how many of these giant monsters were at the bottom of that trench?"
"They don’t seem to be from the same creature. Jiaojiao, are there any skulls from other big monsters?"
"I’ll go look. I think I saw some."
Yun Jiao dived back to the bottom of the trench. After searching for a while, she spotted a massive, ferocious-looking skull.
This skull was more complete than the others. It wasn’t like the shark jaw, where the rest of the skull was missing and only the ring of bone with the teeth was intact.
However, half of this skull was embedded in the cliff face.
Yun Jiao put her strength into it and punched the cliff face. The water instantly turned murky as she broke off a chunk of rock.
But her hand throbbed with a bit of pain.
’Forget it. I’ll bring tools next time.’
With that thought, Yun Jiao only took some of the bones scattered on the seafloor and headed back up.
"I found one, but it’s embedded in the cliff face. Next time, I’ll bring a hammer or a pickaxe to break the rock."
"Dad, you guys can head back in the boat. I’ll bring the rest of these back with me."
"Alright. Be careful on your own."
Yun Jiao called out in response.
She swam even faster than the boat, despite carrying all those heavy bones.
So, even though Yun Linhai and the others had left first, Yun Jiao was the one who reached the island before them.
"That’s so many bones."
Ying Chengye scratched his head. "This is definitely more than one skeleton. We’ll have to assemble several of them."
Yun Jiao shook the lingering seawater from her hair.
"That’s fine. We’ll just assemble as many as we can."
"Do you guys like them? You can take a skeleton home with you when we’re done."
Like them? Of course, they liked them. How could they not?
Just looking at the skeletons of these sea monsters, which had lived for who knows how many years, was enough to imagine their immense size.
It was something no man could refuse.
Ying Chengye rubbed his hands together. "Well, in that case, I won’t be shy, heh."
Mr. Mu laughed heartily. "I could take one back if there’s a smaller one. This thing is too big; my little courtyard has no room for it."
"I’ve really seen something amazing today. If it weren’t for you, Jiaojiao, we’d never have laid eyes on such a rare find."
Dinosaur fossils on land are probably easier to find. You can just dig through layers of earth to get to them, even if some are buried deep.
But the ones in the sea are another story. The ocean is vast, and few people can explore it. Right now, no one can really reach the deep seabed. You might find marine fossils if massive geological changes turned a former ocean into land, but otherwise...
Finding them on the seabed? Forget about it.
Only someone with Yun Jiao’s outrageous abilities could find these fossils on the ocean floor.
For the next while, everyone was busy working on the fossils.
Of course, Yun Jiao didn’t spend all her time searching for fossils. She still went to play with the killer whales, blue whales, and dolphins, and also took care of things like ocean trash.
If she came across any injured sea creatures, she would bring the ones she could save back for treatment.
The skeleton from the trench cliff turned out to be complete. Relying on her own strength, Yun Jiao spent half a month getting it out.
