The 500-year-old ginseng took the stage as the grand finale, and as soon as it appeared, its price skyrocketed to three million.

For the two children, Yun Jiao and Yun Xiao Ba, it was a real eye-opener.

Gu Lan Ting remarked with a sigh, "Sometimes you feel like you have more than enough money, but when you compare yourself to the truly wealthy, don’t you feel insignificant again?"

Yun Jiao nodded.

Gu Lan Ting said, "And this money is just their liquid assets. Which one of them doesn’t have countless properties or mines to their name?"

"But the wealthiest people aren’t on the mainland. Business here has only just started to develop, but there are still plenty of old, established families in hiding."

Elder Gu said, "But we don’t compare ourselves to people like that. Money is all about your perspective. Some people feel it’s enough as long as they have what they need, but others feel like it’s never enough."

"You two must remember, it’s fine to make money, but you must never lose your conscience for it and do things that harm the country and its people."

Yun Jiao and Yun Xiao Ba nodded repeatedly.

After the auction ended, Yun Jiao was holding a beautiful brocade box. Inside was the Jue Pearl she had won.

They returned to the Gu Family’s home together, and not long after, Yun Jiao was picked up and taken to the Xu family’s home.

It was Friday, and that afternoon, the two brothers, Xu Rong and Xu Qing, had returned home from school.

Coming to the Xu family home with them was the child from the other day, Su Nian.

"Good afternoon, Senior Brother, Sister-in-law."

"Jiaojiao, you’re back. Your two brothers were just talking about you."

Yun Jiao looked over, but the first thing she met was Su Nian’s resentful gaze.

Seeing Yun Jiao look over, she quickly hugged Xu Rong’s arm and gave her a provocative look.

’She scoffed inwardly. ’This little brat is full of petty tricks. I have several brothers of my own, why would I fight with you over him?’’

’Besides, is he even your brother?’

"Jiaojiao, come over here. I brought you milk tea. See which flavor you like."

Xu Qing called out to her.

Yun Jiao walked over. "Thanks, Second Brother Xu. I’ll just have this one."

She pointed to a random cup.

"No, that one’s mine. Pick another one."

Su Nian suddenly spoke up.

The members of the Xu family all frowned slightly at her.

Su Nian’s eyes darted. Remembering what her mother had said, she immediately put on a pitiful expression.

"I like that flavor. You’re not going to fight me for it, are you?"

’Yun Jiao shuddered inwardly. ’What is this nonsense?’’

She wasn’t one to indulge Su Nian. She grabbed a straw, poked it right into that cup of milk tea, and took a big slurp.

She even rolled her eyes at Su Nian. "We’re both kids. You’re no one special to me, so why should I indulge you just because you like it?"

Xu Qing also said, "I told Jiaojiao to choose first. Su Nian, if you want one, pick another."

It had to be said, the two Xu brothers were very well-raised; they knew right from wrong.

Xu Rong pulled his arm free from Su Nian’s grasp. "Su Nian, stop clinging to me all the time. I can barely move."

Su Nian was stunned for a moment. This wasn’t at all how her mom said things would unfold.

’When I act pitiful, aren’t they supposed to take my side?’

This time, Su Nian truly felt wronged. Her eyes reddened, and it looked like she would burst into tears any second.

Mrs. Xu felt awkward as well. She didn’t particularly like Su Nian’s disposition.

The moment she felt the least bit wronged, she would start crying, which always made it seem like the Xu family was bullying her.

Unfortunately, Mr. Su and her husband had a pretty good relationship, and on top of that, he was the vice president of First People’s Hospital.

And Su Nian was especially fond of visiting their home. When the girl showed up, it wasn’t as if she could just send her away.

"Alright, all the milk teas are the same. If you like that flavor, Auntie will buy it for you next time."

But she didn’t blame Yun Jiao.

’Because she felt Yun Jiao was right. They were kids of about the same age, and they didn’t even really know each other. Why should someone have to give up something they like just because another person says they want it?’

"Jiaojiao, what are you holding there? I heard you went to an auction?"

Yun Jiao nodded. "Mhm, this is what I won at the auction."

Su Nian snorted. "You’re not just using the fact that you’re Grandpa Xu’s disciple to spend his money freely, are you?"

"What’s this about spending my money?"

Elder Xu walked in. He glanced at Yun Jiao first, his expression softening a little.

"Little Disciple, what could you have possibly bought that would require my money?"

Yun Jiao gently shook the brocade box in her hand.

"I didn’t spend your money. I bought it myself."

Elder Xu nodded. "That’s what I thought. With your assets, why would you need my money to buy something? But then again, there’s nothing wrong with a master’s money being spent by his disciple."

"Grandpa Xu."
