It had been decided that she would spend the second period with Brother Nine.

So Yun Xiaowu and his brothers looked dejected.

Yun Xiaojiu, on the other hand, was delighted. He led his sister back to his classroom and introduced her to everyone.

Yun Xiaojiu was the class monitor, and he was very popular.

"Wow, Yun Chen’an, you and your sister are so good-looking!"

"Hey, want a cookie? I have some here for you."

"And I have candy!"

"I’ve got spicy chips."

Yun Jiao quickly shook her head. "No, no, thank you. I have my own."

She had plenty of snacks herself. Her little bag was stuffed full of chocolate, fruit leather, White Rabbit milk candy, peanuts, sunflower seeds, and more.

When class started, Yun Jiao sat down next to her brother.

Her brother’s deskmate was a skinny boy with a buzz cut. He looked a little intimidating, but he was a slacker in school.

In reality, however, his grades weren’t half bad. Still, he was considered one of the class troublemakers and was always covered in injuries from fighting.

Rumor had it that his dad was in jail for something, so the other students in the class were a little afraid of him.

Yun Xiaojiu had been a little scared of him too, but then he’d think about his own older brothers and feel a bit braver.

After getting to know Su Huan a little, he discovered that even though the boy looked fierce, he rarely spoke to anyone and never tried to hit him, so Yun Xiaojiu wasn’t scared of him anymore.

"Su Huan," he asked, "is it okay if my sister sits between us?"

Su Huan glanced up at them, gave a nod, and then flopped back down onto his desk to sleep.

Yun Jiao sat between them and started taking snacks out of her little bag.

She even had small bread rolls.

She handed her brother a bread roll, a milk candy, and a small bottle of yogurt drink.

"Here, Brother Nine."

She glanced at the boy next to her, the one who looked so fierce but was also incredibly skinny.

Her hearing was sharp, and she heard Su Huan’s stomach growl.

So she gave him a share too.

"Thank you," she said.

Su Huan had been annoyed at being disturbed, but when he saw the food placed in front of him, he swallowed hard.

"I don’t want it."

GRUMBLE...

His own stomach betrayed him, as if mocking his refusal.

Su Huan: "..."

The tips of his ears turned slightly red against his tan skin.

"Go on, eat it. I have plenty more," she said.

She opened her little bag to show him.

Yun Xiaojiu chimed in, "Just eat it. When my sister runs out, she’ll just buy more."

Su Huan was silent for a moment before he finally picked up the food and started to eat.

He wolfed it down as if someone might snatch it away from him.

When Yun Jiao saw he had finished, she handed him a few pieces of candy and some peanuts.

"Brother Nine, do you want any more?"

Yun Xiaojiu shook his head. "I’m full."

"You can’t have too many snacks," he told her. "We still have to eat lunch after our morning classes are done."

Yun Jiao had a history of filling up on snacks and then not being able to eat her meals, so Shen Yunlian had warned her time and time again not to eat too many.

But Yun Jiao always packed her little bag full of snacks anyway.

He glanced into the bag, grabbed a large handful, and stuffed it into Su Huan’s hands.

"Here, help her eat these. Otherwise, she’ll eat too many snacks and won’t have her lunch again."

Su Huan, who had never been stuffed with so much food before: "..."

Yun Jiao protested, "I didn’t even eat that much!"

Class began.

This period in Yun Xiaojiu’s class was math.

Yun Jiao listened, growing drowsier and drowsier until all she wanted to do was sleep.

’Now I understand Fifth Brother. I am becoming Fifth Brother.’

For the second half of the period, she was asleep at her desk, just like Su Huan.

The teacher at the front of the room just glanced at her.

’It isn’t the first time a student has brought a younger sibling to class. A little one like Yun Jiao, who just sleeps quietly without disrupting the lesson, is a blessing.’

’Besides, the kids from this family are truly good-looking. The sister seems even prettier than her brother.’

The moment class ended, Yun Jiao woke up.

Yun Xiaowu and the other two rushed over to Yun Xiaojiu’s classroom.

"Jiaojiao, let’s go! It’s time to come to our class."

Yun Xiaojiu retorted, "Class hasn’t even started yet. What’s the rush?"

"You’re coming to our class next period anyway. What difference does it make if we go now or later?"

Seeing that they were about to start arguing again, Yun Jiao sighed.

"Take it outside."

’Arguing in the classroom is so disruptive to everyone else,’ she thought. ’Some people are sleeping, and others are trying to do their homework.’

’Speaking of which, Brother Nine’s deskmate can really sleep. Class is over and he’s still not awake.’

She went outside and watched her brothers play for a bit. When the next period started, she went to the classroom belonging to Fifth Brother and the others.

This time, she sat with Brother Qi and Brother Ba.

It was English class.

Listening to the teacher’s somewhat broken English, Yun Jiao’s eyes widened.

Yun Xiaoqi whispered, "His English sounds different from those foreigners we met, doesn’t it?"

Yun Jiao nodded. ’It’s not just different,’ she thought, ’it’s got a heavy accent.’

"He’s actually our math teacher," Yun Xiaoqi explained. "The school doesn’t have enough English teachers, so he has to teach English too."

English teachers were a rarity in those days. In their small town, the entire school only had three English teachers for thirteen different classes.
