Yun Jiao and Yun Linhai were making the rounds. First, they went to her master’s house, and after dropping off the seafood, they headed to the Guo family’s place.

Ancient was in his shop, holding a brush washer. He wore reading glasses and was examining it with great focus.

"Grandpa Gu."

Yun Jiao hopped off the motorcycle, took the large prawns her dad handed her from the foam cooler, and ran into the shop hugging them.

Yun Linhai followed his daughter inside, carrying the rest of the items.

Hearing Yun Jiao’s voice, the old man put down the object in his hands.

"Well now, if it isn’t the little one."

Yun Jiao nodded, her little legs pitter-pattering as she ran over at top speed.

"Grandpa Gu, see if you like these! If there’s something you’d like to eat, Jiaojiao and my dad can go find it for you next time we’re out at sea."

Seeing Yun Jiao’s vibrant, pretty, and adorable appearance, Ancient felt a real pang of longing.

’This little one looks so smart, and she even has a photographic memory. Ai, how did that old coot Xu Lai beat me to her?’

He was truly very fond of this little girl.

Yun Linhai scratched his head good-naturedly. "Hello, I’m Jiaojiao’s dad."

Ancient greeted him. With Yun Jiao there, the conversation between the two men wasn’t awkward.

"Dad, didn’t you need to go buy something? I’ll wait for you here with Grandpa Gu. Go on, go on."

Yun Linhai nodded. "Okay, Dad will be back soon."

After Yun Linhai left, Yun Jiao held up the items in her hands, offered them to Ancient, and thanked him earnestly.

"Grandpa Gu, thank you for helping me pick out those things."

’Even cuter! I want her even more!’

Ancient chuckled and squatted down. "Oh my, you’re so well-behaved. Much more so than that little rascal of mine."

’Maybe I should try to fight that old coot Xu Lai for her after all.’

Just as he was thinking this, someone else walked in through the doorway.

He had a large black cloth bag on his back, his hair was dyed green, and his skin was quite fair. He had an earring, and his hands were stuffed in his pockets, giving him a devil-may-care air.

He was also wearing a black studded leather jacket. With an outfit like that, he was bound to draw attention just by standing there.

This was especially true on the antique street, where most of the visitors were elderly people who were fond of wearing traditional Tang suits and similar attire.

Outside the entrance, passersby were already pointing and murmuring about the young man.

"Whose kid is that? Why on earth is his hair green? That’s so improper."

"Aiyo, what kind of clothes is that young man wearing? Why are there so many studs on it? Won’t that poke someone?"

The young man paid no mind to what people outside were saying; in fact, he felt exceptionally good about himself.

’Hmph, what do you old fossils know? This is called fashion!’

Of course, the young man only dared to grumble internally. After all, if he said it out loud, he would definitely be...

"Ow!"

Great. He got hit without even saying it.

Ancient had found a cane from somewhere and brought it down squarely on the young man’s shoulder.

"You little brat! Last time it was blonde! I told you to dye your hair back, not to dye it green!"

Aiyo, he was furious. This was his only grandson, but the boy had a rebellious streak a mile wide, and his tastes were the complete opposite of the rest of the family’s.

He called this "fashionable." Sure, *he* was fashionable, but he didn’t give a damn about the life or death of his old man back home.

"What are you still standing there for? You think you look good? Get your butt inside!"

Ancient was fuming, his beard practically bristling.

Gu Chen rubbed his aching shoulder and muttered.

"Grandpa, this is our generation’s aesthetic. You don’t get it. Grandma even approved of my hair. She said it looked spirited. How are you even more old-fashioned than Grandma?"

"You! Shut your mouth!"

Gu Chen pouted, then immediately spotted the adorable little girl sitting not far away.

His eyes instantly lit up.

"Grandpa, whose kid is this? Did you kidnap her?"

Ancient: "..."

’He was fuming. I really don’t want this grandson anymore. Whoever wants him can just take him away!’

"Hey there, little lady. I’m Gu Chen. What’s your name?"

Deftly dodging his grandpa’s murderous glare, Gu Chen darted over to Yun Jiao’s side and greeted her in a low voice that he considered very sexy and pleasant.

He even flicked his bangs.

Yun Jiao: ’What on earth was that racket!’

Ancient covered his face. ’Really, I truly don’t want to admit this is my grandson!’

Out of politeness, Yun Jiao still raised her little hand to greet him.

"Hewo, I’m Yun Jiao."

She was still holding the large prawns.

"Grandpa Gu, hurry and take these to eat. They won’t be as good if you wait too long."

She completely missed how Gu Chen’s eyes lit up like spotlights when he heard her speak.

’This little girl’s voice is just too cute!’

He immediately started trotting after Yun Jiao.

"Little sister Yun Jiao, where do you live? Do you like listening to music? I can sing and play the guitar, you know."

The thing on his back was a guitar.

Although Gu Chen’s style was a bit wild, he was serious about his musical creations.

He had formed a band with a few friends who shared the same passion, and they performed in underground bars.

Ancient couldn’t hold back and slapped his own grandson on the back a few more times.

"Get lost! Don’t be teaching the little one your nonsense."

"Grandpa, what are you talking about? How is this nonsense?"

"I’m very serious about my music, you know."

Ancient shot him a glare. "Jiaojiao, you and your dad don’t leave just yet. Let’s all go have a meal together."

He picked up the fish and prawns Yun Jiao and Yun Linhai had brought. "I’ll find a restaurant to cook all this. Chen, you take good care of her. Don’t go running off, or this old man will break your legs!"

Gu Chen wailed, "Am I even your real grandson anymore? I’m the sole heir of our generation of the Gu family! Careful, or I’ll go tattle to Grandma!"

"Heir? If you want to be the heir, then you can get your butt back home and properly study the Gu family’s actual business!"

Gu Chen: "No way! All that antique stuff you do is so boring and hard to learn. Locking me in a room for days to restore antiques? You might as well just kill me."

"Aiya, Grandpa, just go, don’t worry. I promise I won’t lead little sister Yun Jiao astray."

Once Ancient left, Gu Chen and Yun Jiao were left alone in the shop, staring at each other.

Gu Chen was an extrovert who warmed up to people quickly.

He took the guitar off his back. "Ever seen this instrument? It’s called a guitar. Come on, I’ll sing a couple of songs for you."

Yun Jiao sat properly on a small stool, tilting her head to look at the guitar he was holding.

"Okay."

Strumming his guitar, Gu Chen immediately got into the zone and sang "Fisherman’s Song at Dusk" for Yun Jiao.

"The red sun shines upon the sea, the evening breeze turns cool, the beautiful scenery quickly fades away, a bell chimes from the mountain..."

The song was in Cantonese, so Yun Jiao couldn’t understand it.

She cupped her cheeks in her hands. Although she couldn’t understand the words, the melody was very beautiful.

When Gu Chen sang seriously, his voice was clear and bright, filled with the unique passion of youth.

It was much more pleasant than the voice he used when he was goofing around.

When he finished singing, Yun Jiao politely applauded.
