Chapter 453: Chapter 211: Fishing

The brawny man quickly said, “Laughing is good! People should laugh more. Laughter makes you ten years younger.”

Elise: “…”

Sean: “…”

‘This guy is something else.’

He was referring to how quickly the man could change his tune.

Most people, after being put in their place, wouldn’t grovel so quickly.

“Get up. Have a seat.”

Sean wasn’t a petty person.

Once he’d made his point, he was quite easy to get along with.

Seeing that Sean wasn’t going to dwell on the matter, Howard was inwardly delighted. ‘Skilled people really are magnanimous,’ he thought. He responded respectfully once more, “Yes, Teacher!”

He reacted as if he’d just received an order from his boss.

Howard sat obediently on a small stool. Sean gestured for him to be quiet—he wasn’t done fishing yet.

The crowd also quieted down but didn’t leave. They wanted to see just what this man was trying to catch.

Sean adjusted his hook slightly, adding a short-lived ancient rune that could distort perception. This way, fish in the shallows would see the hook as bent. Once the hook sank into the deep sea, the rune would have worn off, and the hook would “become straight” again.

‘That should do it.’

No more stupid fish came to offer themselves up.

Sean didn’t keep the crowd waiting for long.

「About half an hour later.」

“VMMMM!”

Once again, there was a commotion from the sea.

The fishing line, which had been let out long and was slightly slack, was instantly pulled taut.

At the same time, the surface of the normally flat sea began to bulge in an arc, like a rising tide. Looking down from the ship, it was as if the seawater had formed a massive wok, turned upside down on the ocean’s surface.

The crowd’s eyes went wide.

“Holy crap, the water is bulging out! How big must that fish be?”

They soon had their answer.

Sean stood up, gripped the rod with both hands, and yanked with all his might.

“SPLASH!”

A fish, countless times larger than the previous ones, burst out of the water.

In that instant, the light on the deck dimmed.

The crowd stared blankly at the sky, their expressions as if they had seen a ghost. The massive fish blotted out the sun, casting a shadow over their stupefied faces.

“Get back!” Sean roared.

Only then did the crowd react, scrambling to get out of the way.

“THUD!”

The massive fish landed on the deck.

The entire cruise ship seemed to tilt from the impact.

Out of the water, the great fish didn’t die immediately. It thrashed wildly on the deck, splashing water everywhere and letting out a high-pitched cry similar to a dolphin’s.

Only then did the crowd get a clear look at it. It had a mouth full of sharp fangs and resembled a great white shark.

Howard was stunned.

“A Sea Beast!”

“This is a Sea Beast!”

The anglers in the crowd erupted.

Catching a Sea Beast is the ultimate dream of every angler.

Even though they weren’t the ones who caught it, they had witnessed the entire process firsthand. It was like watching your favorite star play a match in person—they felt the excitement as if it were their own!

“What’s going on… Holy crap!”

The ship’s security personnel, hearing the commotion, rushed over. Before they could even ask what happened, they were startled by the enormous great white shark in front of them.

His eyes widened. “Is that… a Deep-Sea Great White??”

‘He couldn’t be seeing things, could he?’

‘These anglers, who’ve caught nothing but air since they boarded, actually managed to catch a Sea Beast??’

“That’s right!”

“My Teacher just caught it.”

Howard said, his chin held high and his face full of pride.

Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought he was the one who caught it.

Sean, meanwhile, dusted off his hands, put down his fishing rod, and said to Elise, “See? The Magic Wand in the museum was made from the bones of one of these.”

Elise finally understood.

‘This guy was using his actions to show her that he really wasn’t interested in that Magic Wand.’

‘If he can casually fish up the raw materials, what’s so special about it?’

Elise had to admit, he’d successfully shown off again.

But she liked it. She loved to see it.

After all, this was the man she had chosen. Of course she wanted Sean to be as outstanding as possible.

The security captain who had rushed over realized a VIP was on board. He hurried over, bowed politely and respectfully to Sean, and said, “Hello, sir. I’m one of the supervisors for this fishing area. I’d like to ask, would it be possible to sell this Sea Beast to the Rose Goddess?”

Sean: “No.”

The security captain: “…”

He had considered that Sean might refuse, but he hadn’t expected the rejection to be so blunt.

Sean hadn’t given him any face at all, leaving him in an awkward position. He didn’t even know where to put his hands and ended up just scratching his head.

Howard, however, thought this was completely normal.

‘Don’t be fooled by the fact that it’s just fishing; there’s real skill involved here.’

‘How big is a Deep-Sea Great White?’

‘How small is a fish hook?’

‘And how thin is a fishing line?’

‘To catch such a big fish with such a small hook… for an ordinary person, just getting the fish to even stay on the hook would be a problem. Normally, a hook of this size would slip right through the gaps in a Deep-Sea Great White’s teeth, and the line couldn’t bear its weight—it would snap the moment you pulled.’

‘But Sean’s line didn’t break.’

‘And the Deep-Sea Great White didn’t get away.’

‘These are all things that can only be done with Magic Power.’

‘In other words, Sean is an incredibly powerful Wizard whose control over his Magic Power is near-perfect.’

‘A person like that must have a significant background. It’s only natural for him to be a bit proud.’

“My Teacher isn’t short on money,” Howard said on Sean’s behalf.

This was also a reminder for the security captain.

The captain got the hint immediately and quickly said, “My apologies, I was being presumptuous.”

“In that case, how do you intend to deal with this Sea Beast, sir? We can help.”

“No commission. Just consider it a way for us to befriend you, sir.”

That was a much better way to phrase it.

“Alright.” Sean nodded, giving the security captain some face this time.

The crowd began to speculate why Sean had caught the Deep-Sea Great White.

“I bet it’s to make a Magic Wand.”

“No, I don’t think he’s lacking for Magic Wands.”

How could a Wizard who can fish up a Sea Beast possibly be short on Magic Wands made from them?

“He’s probably stocking up for his family.”
