The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 358 171: Acquaintance
"What's your name?"
Sean asked.
The blond young man didn't want to answer, but as soon as his eyes met Sopea's deep gaze, he immediately became compliant.
"My name is Midi," he stammered.
"And you?"
Sean asked the man in the suit.
The man in the suit glared at him hatefully. "I was caught by you today, and I admit defeat. If you're going to kill me, just do it. Cut the crap."
The people of the Kovloki Family were never afraid of death.
This was a noble quality nurtured by the land of Sonaros State, a quality their family had carried forward and glorified.
Always forward, never retreating. Even against an unbeatable enemy, they would only charge with soaring spirits, roaring, "Ura!"
THUD. Elise sent the man in the suit sprawling with a flying kick.
"Who's the one spouting nonsense now?"
"My Master asked for your name, didn't you hear him?"
She said fiercely, "Stop with all this irrelevant crap and talk!"
The man in the suit clutched his side and stammered, "Ho… Hobbs."
"That's more like it." Sean retracted his murderous aura and said with a smile, "You should know who we are, right? So we won't need to introduce ourselves."
"We've just arrived and aren't familiar with this area. We need two guides. So, I'll have to trouble you two to lead the way. I want to meet the head of your family, Miss Bofunova."
"As long as you cooperate, I'll try not to make things difficult for you. How does that sound?"
His words were surprisingly polite.
Just moments ago, he had been furious about the Night Watchers, looking like he was about to kill someone.
Eleanor stole a glance at Sean.
She felt she was beginning to understand why Her Highness the Saintess's moods were so mercurial and unpredictable.
'So she learned it from Sean…'
The difference was, Sean was gentler. If it had been Her Highness the Saintess, the blondie and the man in the suit would most likely be dead by now.
But the blond young man didn't seem to appreciate the gesture. He momentarily broke free from Sopea's Mind Magic and roared, "In your dreams!"
With a look of someone ready to face death, he declared, "We will never betray Miss Bofunova!"
Sean couldn't help but look at Sopea.
"My apologies." Sopea immediately increased the pressure, his eyes turning pure black.
The blond young man immediately became compliant again. His gaze went dull as he said, "Actually, we don't know where Miss Bofunova is either…"
Elise and the others: "?"
Sean: "…"
'Then what was all that about being ready to die?'
"And you?" Sean asked the man in the suit.
"I don't know either," the man in the suit replied.
This was the truth.
Bofunova had over a hundred properties in Sonaros State, all purchased under her personal name. She disliked staying in hotels, so every time she went to a new city, she would have a house bought in advance. Unless there was business, she rarely returned to the family estate. No one knew where she was off gallivanting.
Elise let out a laugh. "So she's filthy rich, then."
Buying them in her personal name meant she was using her own money, not the Kovloki Family's. It proved the woman was truly rolling in it.
Sean continued to ask, "If you don't know where she is, that's fine. Tell me something you do know."
Giving up all resistance, the man in the suit said, "We don't know anything."
Using Mind Magic to question them or searching their memories directly would be useless.
Because they truly didn't know much about Miss Bofunova.
For Fieldwork personnel like them, even getting to see Miss Bofunova once was a matter of luck.
"That's fine," Sean said. "You may not know Bofunova, but you must know about the Wizards you hunt as prey."
"Take us to them."
Whether it was going to the Gate of Hell or avenging the Night Watchers, they needed intelligence.
They were strangers in a strange land; seeking help from the local Wizard Organization was the best option.
This time, the blond young man and the man in the suit didn't say they didn't know.
They wanted to, but Sopea wouldn't allow it.
Despite both being Tier Six, the blond young man was completely helpless against Sopea's Mind Magic.
He hadn't even noticed when Sopea had approached using Invisibility earlier.
Sean finally understood. The old man had been "humble" all along.
He'd actually believed him when he said he "wasn't good at fighting."
Originally, on the plane, he had planned to have the Eleanor Sisters control their Magic Power and strike from the shadows. However, Sopea had volunteered, seeming very confident. It was rare for Sean to see Sopea interested in anything related to fighting, so he agreed to let him try. If it didn't work out, the Eleanor Sisters could step in.
And that led to the scene from before.
A huge group of Witch Hunters, over a hundred of them, had all been pulled into a dreamscape by Sopea without anyone being the wiser.
There was no need for the Eleanor Sisters' help at all.
There were surely some who slipped through the cracks. After all, Sopea had only just broken through to Tier Six, and his Magic Power was still limited. The dreamscape he created couldn't cover the entire runway and tarmac. But that didn't affect the final result. As long as the key people were captured, it was fine.
In reality, Sopea truly wasn't good at fighting.
At least, that's what he himself believed.
But a person's potential is limitless, and he couldn't let the Eleanor Sisters take all the credit.
Otherwise, as Mr. Blake's first subordinate in this life, where would his honor be?
A man has to push himself sometimes.
Evidently, Sopea's push had been very successful.
Even Elise was starting to see him in a new light.
'No wonder this old geezer acts so high and mighty all the time,' she thought. 'Turns out he actually has some real skills.'
The group left the airport, escorting the blond young man and the man in the suit.
The two men had a car, which conveniently saved them the trouble of hailing a cab.
...
「The next morning.」
Bofunova, residing in a certain villa, received the news.
