The More I Invest in My Wives, the Stronger I Become

Chapter 22: A Morning of Reconciliation

  • Next Chapter

That night, Daemon slept on the floor.

He stared at the ceiling for several minutes, replaying everything that had happened.

At least things hadn’t escalated any further.

But there was one problem he couldn’t ignore.

Victoria possessed Crimson Resonance, which allowed her to sense the thoughts of those around her. Whenever he started thinking about another woman, especially while standing near her, he was practically inviting trouble.

I need to be more careful next time.

Daemon sighed.

Or perhaps I should eventually tell her everything about the system.

But that thought brought another problem.

Victoria would never easily accept the fact that the system involved other women and affection.

When the right moment comes, I’ll explain everything to her.

Until then, keeping the system’s existence secret was probably the safest choice.

Daemon closed his eyes.

Tomorrow, I’ll make it up to her.

The next morning, sunlight slipped through the curtains.

Daemon woke early.

He looked toward the bed.

Victoria was still sleeping peacefully, her red hair spread across the pillow.

The terrifying woman from last night was nowhere to be seen.

Daemon couldn’t help grinning.

I know two of her weaknesses.

He quietly slipped out of the room.

The first was simple.

Food.

The second...

Daemon’s grin became mischievous.

I’ll deal with that one later.

He headed into the kitchen and began preparing Victoria’s favorite breakfast.

Soon, the smell of freshly cooked food filled the house.

He arranged everything neatly on the table.

"Perfect."

Daemon looked upstairs.

Now came the difficult part.

He walked toward the bedroom.

"Victoria."

No response.

He knocked lightly.

"Vic, wake up. It’s already eight. You have work."

A few seconds passed.

Then Victoria slowly opened her eyes.

She yawned and stretched lazily.

Her crimson eyes immediately focused on him.

The moment she remembered last night’s incident, her expression hardened.

She raised one hand.

"Don’t come near the bed."

Daemon immediately raised both hands.

"I wasn’t planning anything."

Victoria narrowed her eyes.

"You’re lying."

"I’m just here to help you get ready."

She continued staring at him suspiciously.

"To the shower," Daemon added quickly. "You need to wake up."

Victoria finally got out of bed.

"I’ll remember this."

Daemon smiled.

"I know."

A little later, Victoria entered the bathroom.

Daemon waited outside.

He heard the shower running.

A mischievous thought crossed his mind.

Now I need to make sure she really forgives me.

He walked toward the bathroom door.

He didn’t knock. He simply turned the handle and stepped inside.

The bathroom was a white-out of thick, humid steam. Victoria gasped, spinning around to face him, her body glistening under the spray.

She was completely naked, the water cascading down the curves of her breasts and swirling around her hips.

"Daemon!" she exclaimed, though there was no real heat in her voice. "What are you doing? Get out!"

Daemon didn’t move. He stepped closer, his eyes roaming over her without a shred of shame. He watched a bead of water trail down her stomach, disappearing between her thighs.

"I came to apologize," he whispered, his voice dropping an octave. "Forgive me for last night, Vic." Victoria crossed her arms over her chest, but her gaze softened.

She saw the hunger in his eyes and felt the familiar pull of attraction. She leaned back against the wet tiles, a small, challenging smile playing on her lips.

"You think a little apology is enough?" she asked. "You have to make me forget why I was mad. Only then will I forgive you."

"I think I can manage that," he murmured. He stepped into the stream of water, his clothes soaking through instantly.

He didn’t bother taking them off immediately; the friction of the wet fabric against her skin as he pulled her flush against him elicited a sharp, needy moan from her throat.

"Mmm," she hummed, her hands sliding up his chest to lock behind his neck. Daemon gripped her thighs, lifting her effortlessly. Victoria wrapped her legs around his waist, her heels digging into his lower back.

He pressed her hard against the wall, the cold marble a sharp contrast to the searing heat of their bodies. He captured her lips in a bruising kiss, tasting the soap and the salt of her skin.

*Slap.* The sound of their skin meeting echoed in the small space. He moved his hand down, his fingers finding her already slick and waiting. Victoria let out a loud, shaking breath, her head falling back against the tiles.

"Ah... Daemon, please," she whimpered. He didn’t make her wait. He entered her in one smooth, powerful thrust. Victoria’s eyes snapped open, her fingers clawing into his shoulders.

"Oh god... yes!" she cried out, her voice echoing off the walls. The rhythm was frantic and raw, fueled by the lingering tension of the previous day.

The sound of the rushing water mingled with the wet *clack-clack-clack* of their bodies colliding. Daemon groaned, a deep, guttural sound, as he buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling the scent of her skin and the steam.

"You... you’re so tight," he gasped, his pace increasing. "Don’t stop... don’t you dare stop," she pleaded, her voice breaking. They moved together in a blurred haze of heat and friction. Every thrust felt like a reconciliation, a way of erasing the arguments and the secrets.

As the tension reached a breaking point, Victoria’s grip tightened, her entire body shuddering. She let out a long, high-pitched scream of release, her internal muscles clamping down on him.

Seconds later, Daemon followed, a low growl escaping his throat as he collapsed against her, both of them panting heavily, their breath coming in ragged gasps. For a long time, they simply stayed there, the water washing over them, cleaning away the sweat and the salt.

Victoria hugged him tight, her head resting on his shoulder. The anger was gone, replaced by a warm, languid contentment.

Eventually, they dried off and made their way to the kitchen. Victoria was practically glowing, her mood completely shifted as she sat down to eat the breakfast he had prepared.

"You’re a manipulative man, Daemon,"

she said between bites of French toast, though she was smiling.

"I prefer the term ’thoughtful,’" he replied with a wink.

After breakfast, Daemon leaned back.

"So, what’s the plan today?"

"I have work."

"And me?"

"You don’t have to report to the WHA yet?"

"They told me to wait until they contact me with the official training schedule."

Victoria nodded.

"Then you have some free time."

"Apparently."

She stood up.

"But before I go to work, you’re coming with me."

Daemon blinked.

"Where?"

Victoria gave him a mysterious smile.

"Did you forget something?"

"I don’t think so."

"What about your ex-girlfriend?"

Daemon froze.

"My... what?"

"Kassia."

His eyes widened.

"You asked me to find her."

Daemon stared at Victoria.

For a moment, he couldn’t speak.

"You found her?"
