Daemon stood in endless darkness.

He turned in every direction, but there was nothing around him. No ground beneath his feet, no sky above him, and no sign of the street where he had collapsed.

“Hello!” he shouted.

His voice echoed through the darkness before slowly fading away.

He waited, but no one answered.

Then he heard a voice coming from somewhere in the distance.

Daemon turned toward it. The voice sounded almost human, yet something about it made him uneasy. There was a strange weight to it, something that felt far older than anything he had ever encountered.

He began walking toward the sound.

As he moved forward, a pale mist appeared ahead of him. It gathered slowly, growing thicker until it completely obscured whatever lay beyond it.

Daemon continued walking.

Suddenly, the mist began to dissolve, revealing a figure sitting on a throne-like chair.

Daemon stopped in his tracks.

The creature looked like the skeleton of an enormous monster. Its frame was massive, with long bones and a terrifying skull. Jagged horns curved from its head, and dark flames flickered inside its empty eye sockets. Heavy chains wrapped around its body, arms, and legs, stretching into the surrounding darkness.

Daemon had faced countless terrifying monsters and ferocious beasts, but he had never encountered anything as horrifying as this creature.

His first instinct was to stay as far away as possible.

The skeleton shifted in its seat, making the chains rattle.

“So, we have finally met again,” it said. Its deep, terrifying voice matched its monstrous appearance. “It has been a few centuries since our last meeting. You look different now. Nothing like the person I remember.”

Daemon stared at it in confusion.

We have met before? A few centuries ago?

“I think you have mistaken me for someone else,” he replied cautiously. “I don’t remember meeting you. Who are you, and where is this place?”

The skeleton tilted its head.

“My name is Requiem The Nameless One.”

He paused before continuing.

“And this place is your soul space.”

Daemon’s eyes widened.

“My soul space?”

He knew about souls, but he had never imagined that he could enter his own soul and meet someone inside it. The whole situation sounded unbelievable, yet everything before him felt strangely real.

Then he noticed the chains again.

“If this is my soul space, why are you here? And why have you been chained up?”

Red flames suddenly burned brighter inside Requiem’s eye sockets.

“Because you and I are the same.”

Daemon immediately shook his head.

“That’s impossible.”

“As for why I am chained here…” Requiem’s voice grew colder. “One of your women put me here.”

The moment he mentioned her, the darkness around the throne changed.

Black flames erupted from the ground, twisting around Requiem as he leaned forward. The chains tightened, and the sound of metal grinding against metal filled the space.

He struggled to break free, but the chains did not move even slightly.

Daemon watched in shock. The creature’s anger was so intense that he could almost feel it pressing against his chest.

“One of my women?” he repeated.

For some reason, Morwenna was the first person who came to mind. He didn’t know why he suspected her, so he quickly pushed the thought aside. ℯ𝔴ℯ

“Tell me who she is.”

Requiem fell silent for a moment.

“How could I ever forget her?”

The black flames before him gathered together, forming an image. Slowly, the face of a woman appeared within the fire.

Daemon’s eyes widened.

His heart began beating faster.

“How is that even possible?”

Daemon stared at the woman’s image, stunned.

When did this happen? How did she imprison Requiem? I need answers, and she’s the only one who can give them to me.

He took a deep breath and turned toward Requiem.

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t understand what he was seeing.

Before he could ask another question, a more urgent thought entered his mind.

He needed to get out of this place.

“System!” he shouted. “Can you hear me?”

There was no response.

He tried again, but the System remained silent.

Daemon turned toward Requiem.

“I want to leave. Tell me how to get out of here.”

Requiem laughed, and the sound echoed through the darkness.

“So eager to leave? You have only just arrived.”

“This isn’t funny!”

“No, it isn’t,” Requiem replied. “But you will understand soon enough. From now on, you must learn to use our power. The more you use it, the weaker these seal will become.”

He raised his enormous hand, revealing the chains wrapped around his wrist.

“Only two things can set me free. The woman who imprisoned me can undo her seal, or you can unleash more of my power until these chains break.”

Daemon frowned.

“And what happens when you’re released?”

“It’s obvious. We merge and become one again. After all, you and I are the same being.”

Daemon didn’t like the sound of that.

“You still haven’t told me why you were imprisoned here.”

“You will discover that when the time comes.” Requiem’s red eyes burned brightly. “For now, you have something more important to do.”

He extended his hand.

Dark energy gathered above his palm, forming a black sword covered in strange markings. Its blade gave off an ominous glow, and the darkness around it seemed to bend toward the weapon.

Daemon stared at it.

There was something strangely familiar about the sword. It looked as though it belonged to Requiem himself.

“What is this weapon?”

“Take it,” Requiem ordered. “You will need it.”

Daemon hesitated. Accepting a sword from a chained monster inside his own soul didn’t sound like a wise decision.

“I said, take it!”

Requiem’s voice thundered through the soul space.

The entire place shook. Black flames erupted around the throne, and the chains clanged violently against one another.

Daemon flinched before stepping forward and taking the sword.

The moment his fingers touched the hilt, a cold sensation travelled up his arm. He quickly placed the weapon inside his storage ring.

Requiem leaned back in his throne.

“Listen carefully, Daemon. Once you leave this place, you may not have much time. Your bloodline power has begun to awaken, and you must learn to control it.”

Daemon looked at him silently.

Power is a dangerous thing in the hands of someone who cannot control it, “Master our power before it devours you. Every time you unleash it, the chains binding me will weaken.”

The flames in his eyes flickered.

“I am Requiem, the Nameless One, the Last of Creation. Do not mistake my imprisonment for weakness. Survive, grow stronger, and learn to command the power that belongs to us.”

Daemon opened his mouth to ask another question, but the darkness began to fade before he could speak.

Meanwhile, back to Roxanna…

Roxanna clung tightly to Garrick’s back as he raced across the rooftops in his werewolf form.

The sky was dark, but the city below glittered with thousands of lights. Garrick leapt from one skyscraper to another, his claws gripping the edges of the buildings before he pushed off again.

The wind whipped Roxanna’s hair across her face, making it difficult to see.

Behind them, several other werewolves followed, jumping across the rooftops without slowing down.

“Garrick, can we lose them?” Roxanna shouted.

“I’m trying!” he growled. “Do you know somewhere safe?”

“The Hale estate! Take me there. It’s the safest place!”

Garrick immediately changed direction.

Roxanna tried to contact Daemon through their connection, but there was no response. She tried Victoria and the others as well, yet nobody answered.

Her uneasiness grew with every passing second.

Carefully, she reached into her storage ring and took out her phone. Holding it while riding on Garrick’s shoulder was difficult. Every time he jumped between buildings, she struggled to keep her balance. 𝖋𝙧ⅇ

She called Daemon.

The phone rang, but he didn’t answer.

She tried again.

Still nothing.

“Come on, Daemon,” she muttered.

With no other choice, she called Victoria instead.

This time, the call connected.

“Roxanna?” Victoria answered. “Why are you calling ov—”

A sudden snarl interrupted her.

One of the pursuing werewolves attacked them from behind, slamming into Garrick with tremendous force.

Garrick twisted in midair, trying to keep Roxanna on his back, but the impact threw them off the balance. Both of them fell toward the side of the skyscraper.

Garrick managed to catch the building’s edge with his claws.

Roxanna nearly slipped from his back. She grabbed his fur with one hand, but the phone is slid out of her other hand and disappeared into the darkness below.

“Damn it!”

The call ended.

Garrick struggled to pull himself back onto the rooftop. Once they were up, Roxanna quickly stood beside him and looked around.

Eight werewolves had surrounded them.

Their eyes were fixed on the two of them, and none seemed willing to let their prey escape.

Roxanna had lost her phone.

And now, they had nowhere left to run.
