The Mirror Master
Chapter 210: Great Battle
However, this matter was incredibly risky, and Lu Bai had no confidence it would succeed.
Moreover, just as Mo Tang had said, if he went through with it, he would surely be wanted by Wu Country, hunted down, and forced to live the life of a fugitive.
Lu Bai asked, "If I go to the Capital City for an audience with His Highness, what will the outcome be?"
"I don’t know."
Mo Tang shook her head slightly. "I don’t want to lie to you. As for what the final outcome will be, no one can say for certain at this moment.
But by exposing this, you will have done Wu Country a great service. I believe His Highness will handle the matter justly and without bias."
Lu Bai wasn’t counting on earning any merit.
He was just worried about what would become of him.
In the battle against the Fujiao Gang, hundreds had died, and blood had flowed like a river.
Such an act would be difficult to overlook anywhere.
There were too many variables.
Lu Bai didn’t want to entrust his fate to some wise ruler he had never even met.
Just then, a figure appeared in the distance, striding through the air as they sped toward them.
"It’s too late!"
Mo Tang glanced over and recognized the Demon Suppression Envoy, Yu Weifeng. Her heart sank.
Even if she left with Lu Bai right now, she likely wouldn’t be able to shake Yu Weifeng.
Once the men from Marquis Jingzhong’s Mansion arrived and formed an encirclement along the way, Lu Bai’s death would be certain!
The path to the Capital City was now cut off.
"Lu Bai, go. I’ll hold him off."
Mo Tang sighed inwardly, signaling for Lu Bai to escape.
"My lady, take care."
Lu Bai nodded without hesitation. He called out to Ah Ming and turned to leave.
Wu Lan had gone to Four Seas Pavilion, and Liang Yifan was dealing with matters at Wangjiang Tower, so they were both delayed.
Meanwhile, Yu Weifeng had left the other Demon Suppression Guards behind. Using his Body Technique to tear through the air, he was much faster and the first to arrive near Fujiao Manor.
Looking down from his high vantage point, Yu Weifeng’s expression changed drastically when he saw the Hall of Unity at Fujiao Manor littered with corpses.
’So many people... dead?’
Yu Weifeng scanned his surroundings, his gaze sweeping into the distance. He quickly spotted Mo Tang and Lu Bai’s position in a nearby forest.
At that very moment, Lu Bai was parting ways with Mo Tang, already fleeing in the direction of Mo Country!
"Lu Bai, where do you think you’re going!"
Yu Weifeng let out a long roar and charged over with the speed of lightning.
Just as he drew near, Mo Tang shot into the air. Her Blood Qi surged as she stood ready with her sword, unleashing a burst of crimson Sword Qi to intercept him!
Yu Weifeng flew into a rage. "Mo Tang!" he bellowed. "Lu Bai is a cruel and bloodthirsty monster! How dare you shelter him!"
A mocking expression crossed Mo Tang’s face. "Compared to you slaughtering thousands of refugees, colluding with the Demon Sect, and refining Human Pills, he hardly counts as ’bloodthirsty’."
Yu Weifeng’s expression flickered, and for a moment, he was speechless.
The two True Masters of the Martial Dao stood in mid-air, locked in a standoff, neither willing to yield.
"Mo Tang, we are both officials of the court. I had no desire to cross blades with you. But if you refuse to stand aside, don’t blame me for being ruthless today!"
Yu Weifeng’s tone was ice-cold, and his eyes glinted with killing intent.
Mo Tang’s expression was serene. "The day I returned gravely wounded and was ambushed in Jingzhou City," she said coolly, "you showed no such consideration. To put on this act now is simply laughable."
Exposed, Yu Weifeng lost all composure and attacked instantly. The Long Saber at his waist flew from its sheath, emanating a chilling Sword Qi as he brought it down on Mo Tang’s head without an ounce of mercy!
Mo Tang’s Blood Qi blazed like a roaring fire, extending seven feet around her—a marked improvement since her time in Bluestone City.
Having survived the ordeal and fully recovered from her injuries, her Cultivation had also improved.
CLANG!
Saber and sword collided, Blood Qi crashed together, and sparks flew as shockwaves of energy radiated outward.
The two True Masters of the Martial Dao were like two giant, humanoid fireballs, repeatedly clashing in mid-air. A fierce battle erupted, with every strike aimed at a vital point.
In the blink of an eye, it had become a fight to the death!
Just then, a flash of sword light streaked through the sky. A middle-aged man with a long, wispy beard stood atop the blade, his wide sleeves fluttering. He was the picture of effortless grace—it was none other than True Master Dan Ding.
"True Master Dan Ding, hurry after Lu Bai! He fled that way!"
Yu Weifeng hastily pointed.
"Don’t worry, he won’t escape!"
A cold glint flashed in True Master Dan Ding’s eyes. With a word, he sped off in that direction.
However fast Lu Bai’s Body Technique might be, it was no match for the speed of his Flying Sword.
Mo Tang moved to block him with her sword, but Yu Weifeng saw her intention and unleashed a torrential onslaught to keep her occupied.
True Master Dan Ding hadn’t gotten far when a rooster suddenly shot up from the forest below. In mid-air, it transformed into a Chongming Bird, its plumage shimmering with iridescent light as it dove toward him!
"You beast, you’re courting death!"
Startled, True Master Dan Ding quickly used Sword Control to dodge. With a flick of his sleeve, another beam of sword light shot out, thrusting toward Ah Ming.
Ah Ming flapped its wings and soared, twisting and turning in mid-air to evade the Flying Sword before diving at True Master Dan Ding once more.
True Master Dan Ding snorted. He dismissed the Flying Sword from beneath his feet and levitated in place. Forming a series of Sword Formulas with his hands, he simultaneously controlled two Flying Swords to encircle and attack Ah Ming.
"Go!"
Simultaneously, True Master Dan Ding formed a hand seal for a Technique. Magical Power surged through him, and a fireball rapidly condensed at his fingertip.
At first, it was only the size of a fist, but in the blink of an eye, it swelled to the size of a basin.
With a sharp cry from True Master Dan Ding, the massive fireball hurtled toward Ah Ming!
As this ball of fire tore through the air, all the surrounding trees burst into flames.
Ah Ming could still manage to dodge the two Flying Swords.
But when the fireball came at it, Ah Ming seemed to sense the danger and dove sharply, trying to evade the attack.
The two Flying Swords followed closely behind.
Unable to catch Ah Ming, the fireball suddenly burst apart in mid-air, transforming into a dozen fist-sized fireballs that blocked Ah Ming’s escape routes!
"Let’s see you escape now!"
Ah Ming abruptly changed direction and shot straight toward the sky, smashing through several of the fireballs as its plumage caught fire.
As soon as it was high in the sky, Ah Ming dove again, slashing its talons at the airborne True Master Dan Ding.
True Master Dan Ding remained composed. He maneuvered the two Flying Swords to intercept Ah Ming while simultaneously directing the remaining fireballs to strike it.
Danding Temple specializes in refining Elixirs.
As the Observatory Master of Danding Temple, his greatest expertise, aside from refining Elixirs, was Fire Magic.
He had his own profound understanding of the art of Fire Control.
CLANG! CLANG!
The two Flying Swords intercepted Ah Ming’s sharp claws, producing the sharp clang of metal on metal.
The Flying Swords were sharp, yet they could not sever Ah Ming’s claws.
Ah Ming continuously broke through the obstacles, using its Body Technique to close the distance to True Master Dan Ding.
Despite being struck by several fireballs, Ah Ming endured the pain and relentlessly tried to get closer to True Master Dan Ding.
True Master Dan Ding was an experienced combatant and did everything possible to maintain a safe distance.
No matter how Ah Ming thrashed and maneuvered, it could never touch him.
Just then, Ah Ming suddenly threw back its head and let out a long cry!
"GOK-GOK-GOK!"
The Divine Chicken crowed, and in an instant, daylight flooded the sky!
"ROAR!"
At the same time, a deafening tiger’s roar erupted from behind Ah Ming!
The Silence Shocking Secret Technique was unleashed!
