The Mirror Master

Chapter 138: Did I Say You Could Leave?

  • Next Chapter

"Oh."

Yun Luo blinked. "Never heard of you."

"You’re just a babe who still smells of your mother’s milk, what have you heard of? Go back and ask your elders, they’ll know!"

True Master Xuan Lu sneered.

Across the entire Celestial Divine Land, perhaps True Master Xuan Lu wasn’t much.

But in the Wu Dynasty, he still had some renown.

True Master Xuan Lu stared at Yu Daoxuan and slowly asked, "And which sect might you be from, fellow Daoist? Why not share your name? Perhaps this old man is acquainted with your sect’s elders. Today’s matter might just be a misunderstanding."

He didn’t dare to make a rash move, mainly because he couldn’t gauge their background.

As for the misunderstanding, it was, of course, just a pretense.

Yu Daoxuan still paid him no mind.

"My name is Yun Luo."

Yun Luo pulled a token from her Storage Pouch, waved it, and said, "See this clearly?"

Three words were written on the token—Four Seas Pavilion!

True Master Xuan Lu’s heart skipped a beat.

The Four Seas Pavilion could be called the most mysterious power in the world, with branches in all the Celestial Countries and an immense reputation.

Legend had it that the Four Seas Pavilion had existed since ancient times.

From the ancient era to primordial times, and even to this day, it had weathered countless ages and still stood strong, a testament to its profound foundation!

The Four Seas Pavilion rarely participated in the struggles for supremacy among nations or the conflicts between various powers, always remaining transcendentally aloof.

But no one dared to underestimate it.

If these two were truly from the Four Seas Pavilion, he really wouldn’t dare to have any designs on them.

However, the matter was suspect.

The Four Seas Order in this little girl’s hand looked slightly different from the one he had seen on Shopkeeper Chu at the Jingzhou Four Seas Pavilion.

Keeping his expression neutral, True Master Xuan Lu said, "This old man has met Shopkeeper Li of the Jingzhou Four Seas Pavilion on several occasions. I wonder if you know him, fellow Daoist?"

"Shopkeeper Li?"

A flicker of confusion crossed Yun Luo’s eyes, and she murmured, "I remember the shopkeeper of the Jingzhou Four Seas Pavilion is named Chu. Could I have remembered it wrong?"

Even though she had never been out before, she had specifically done her homework before coming to Wu Country.

Hearing this, True Master Xuan Lu inwardly frowned.

Just now, he had intentionally stated the wrong surname for the shopkeeper of the Jingzhou Four Seas Pavilion.

If these two were faking their identity as members of the Four Seas Pavilion, they would most likely have gone along with his words to try and get closer to him.

Now that even this four or five-year-old girl knew about Shopkeeper Chu, he was starting to feel uncertain.

The Daoist Nun sat beside her, silent and inscrutable.

He couldn’t tell if she was truly confident in her strength or just putting on an act.

But regardless, he had to get to the bottom of the Mountain Demon’s death.

After a moment of contemplation, True Master Xuan Lu said, "This old man came here for this Exotic Beast Mountain Demon.

"This was an Exotic Beast raised by this old man. You two brutally killed it and even skinned it. Even if you are from the Four Seas Pavilion, you cannot be so tyrannical! You owe this old man an explanation!"

"Oh, so it was your beast."

Yun Luo flared up at his words. "You have the nerve to call us cruel? You didn’t even watch over your own Exotic Beast, letting it come down the mountain and summon a Tiger Demon that killed so many people. Killing it was letting it off easy!

"And another thing, we haven’t even demanded an explanation from you, yet you have the gall to demand one from us? What do you have to say about the villagers it killed?"

True Master Xuan Lu felt a surge of anger, and his face darkened.

’This little brat’s words are too harsh!’

’How can the worthless lives of those people be compared to an Exotic Beast?’

Of course, he could only think such things; he couldn’t say them out loud.

"So, you two have no intention of compensating me?"

True Master Xuan Lu asked coldly.

Seeing that the Mountain Demon was dead and there was nothing he could do, and that the two were from the Four Seas Pavilion, his demand for an explanation was merely a bid for more compensation.

But now, seeing their attitude, he probably wasn’t going to get anything.

"You want compensation?"

Yun Luo snorted. "That beast harmed so many people. We should be the ones demanding compensation from you!"

True Master Xuan Lu’s expression turned icy, and he squeezed the Sword Pill in his palm.

For a moment, he truly wanted to attack and kill them both!

But on second thought, he held back.

He had roamed the Cultivation Realm for over three hundred years and had survived this long because he understood one principle.

If you want to kill someone, don’t act rashly unless you are absolutely certain of success.

’I’ll inquire about their identities, origins, and Cultivation Realms at the Jingzhou Four Seas Pavilion later, then I’ll make my plans.’

"If you want compensation, come find me at the Xuanjian Sect!"

True Master Xuan Lu sneered, lightly kicking the belly of the Profound Deer beneath him, preparing to break through the air and depart.

"Did I say you could leave?"

Just then, Yu Daoxuan suddenly spoke.

Her tone was calm, but her words were incredibly domineering.

True Master Xuan Lu narrowed his eyes and asked, "What do you intend to do, fellow Daoist?"

Yu Daoxuan said lightly, "Leave the Profound Deer here, and I won’t hold you accountable for the crime of trespassing."

A surge of Blood Qi rushed through True Master Xuan Lu.

No matter how much he could endure, he could not tolerate these words.

Not only did she kill one of his Exotic Beasts, but now she wanted to keep his mount!

If this Profound Deer were left behind, how could he still call himself True Master Xuan Lu?

This was tantamount to stripping him of the name he had carried for three hundred years!

If word of this got out, he, Xuan Lu, would have no place left in the Cultivation Realm.

’This Daoist Nun is going too far!’

True Master Xuan Lu focused his mind, on high alert. He formed a hand seal for a technique, his Flying Sword ready to strike, and said slowly, "And if I refuse to leave it? Do you wish to fight me, fellow Daoist?"

"You are not worthy."

Yu Daoxuan said softly, still sitting motionless.

From the Duster that had been resting in the crook of her arm, a single silver thread seemed to come to life, suddenly shooting through the air.

True Master Xuan Lu saw a flash of cold light before his eyes.

Before he could even react, a sharp pain shot through the space between his eyebrows. His gaze went dull, his pupils dilating.

A moment later, he tumbled from the Profound Deer’s back, his body dead and his Dao extinguished!

A silver thread slowly retracted from the center of True Master Xuan Lu’s forehead. Not a single drop of blood stained it; it remained immaculate.

It returned to the Jade Handle Duster and drifted down gently, as if it had never moved at all.

Seeing its master dead, the Profound Deer showed no hint of hostility. It didn’t dare to flee, either, and its gaze toward Yu Daoxuan was filled with fear.

"Come here."

Yu Daoxuan beckoned to it.

The Profound Deer tentatively walked forward, its head bowed, showing an intention to submit and curry favor.

"Auntie, is there any use in keeping this Profound Deer?"

Yun Luo looked at the Profound Deer with some curiosity.

Its body was a profound black, looking like an ordinary Demon Beast, but its pair of white antlers was quite conspicuous.

Yu Daoxuan said, "I’m Refining a Treasure Artifact and can use a wisp of its essence blood."

"This one looks like a doe."

Yun Luo wasn’t quite sure.

Among the Deer Demon clan, some does also grew antlers.

If one were refining a Treasure Artifact of the purest yang, a buck’s blood would naturally be best.

Yu Daoxuan said, "This Profound Deer has a trace of Fuzhu bloodline. Although it’s a doe, the power of its essence blood surpasses that of an ordinary Deer Demon.

"If it cultivates and achieves the Dao, it may be able to shed its mortal coil and have its bloodline revert to its ancestors in the future."

"The Exotic Beast Fuzhu!"

Yun Luo’s eyes lit up.

She had heard her senior brothers and sisters say that the Exotic Beast Fuzhu was gentle in nature, snow-white all over, had four antlers, and was an auspicious beast that heralded water.
