Chapter 132: A Satisfying Meal

Lady Dou’s expression changed when she saw the figure rushing toward her. She staggered back in a panic, and the Witchcraft she was casting was interrupted.

"Courting death!"

Seeing this, Dou Kuan grew extremely anxious. With a loud shout, he abandoned his fight with Mo Tang and charged toward Lu Bai.

The oppressive Blood Qi of the True Master Martial Dao surged forward. Wary, Lu Bai quickly halted his advance and dodged to the side.

"Hmph!"

Mo Tang snorted. Sword Qi crisscrossed through the air as the fiery light around them flared, intercepting Dou Kuan once again. "You go deal with that Witch," they said in a deep voice. "Leave this man to me."

Hearing this, Lu Bai relaxed and refocused his attention on Lady Dou.

However, the delay had given Lady Dou a moment to recover.

"Lu Bai, you’re actually still alive!"

Lady Dou ground her teeth in hatred.

A moment ago, the husband and wife had hurried away to deal with Mo Tang, leaving Lu Bai to Jiao Wei and his men.

As far as they were concerned, with Lu Bai locked in Handcuffs and a Foundation Establishment Great Cultivator present, his death was certain.

But now, not only had Lu Bai appeared, but he was alive and kicking, brimming with killing intent!

Lu Bai chuckled. "Not only am I still alive," he said, "I also butchered that lantern-carrying lover of yours."

At these words, it wasn’t just Lady Dou’s expression that changed as she erupted in fury.

Dou Kuan, too, looked shocked and suspicious. His Sword Technique faltered, and with his Heart and Spirit in turmoil, Mo Tang seized the opening to stab him in the arm.

SLICE!

The Sword Qi left a string of blood droplets in its wake.

’Of course, Lu Bai had only said it offhandedly. He hadn’t expected them to react so strongly.’

’Was there really something to it?’

"You insolent whelp! Today, I’ll kill you with my own hands and avenge my sister!"

Lady Dou had already taken a paper man and a paper horse from her robes. She dripped her own blood onto them, muttered an incantation, and tossed them into the air.

Strange Runes were drawn on the paper man and horse.

After being infused with Witch Race blood, they transformed in mid-air into a lifelike general holding a Long Saber and riding a warhorse. With a great shout, it charged toward Lu Bai!

"This is the Paperman Technique, not an Illusion Technique."

Mo Tang, catching sight of this from the corner of their eye, immediately shouted a warning.

This was a type of Witchcraft; creating effigies fell into the same category.

Although it was made from a paper man and horse, once activated by special Runes and the blood of the Witch Race, it coalesced into a true living being.

The strength of the paper construct varied depending on the potency of the Witch Race blood and the level of the Runes.

At this moment, both the suddenly manifested battlefield general and the Long Saber in its hand possessed real killing power.

Mistaking it for an Illusion Technique would be a fatal error, easily leading to death on the spot!

The man and horse charged too quickly; it was already too late for Lu Bai to dodge.

Lu Bai stomped his foot, unleashing his power.

BOOM!

The ground shook. An imprint of his foot was stamped into the earth where he stood, and cracks spiderwebbed across the ground around it.

The general on his warhorse had just closed the distance when it was hit by the tremor.

Startled, the warhorse abruptly halted and reared up, nearly throwing the general from its back!

At that moment, Lu Bai used the Vajra Earth Splitting Power to leap into the air. Sword in hand, he brought it down in a vicious overhead slash!

RRRIP!

The long sword split the bodies of the man and horse. There was no sound of a blade cutting through flesh and bone—only the sound of tearing paper.

By the time Lu Bai landed, the man and horse had vanished,

leaving only the shredded paper man and horse to flutter down from the sky.

"Woooooooo~"

At the same time, a strange, wailing music suddenly filled the air.

Lady Dou was holding a conch-like object, blowing into it continuously. Her eyes glowed with an eerie green light.

Immediately after, a RUSTLING sound arose from the surrounding forest.

Hearing the commotion, Mo Tang frowned. They took a moment to toss a porcelain bottle from their robes and said, "Eat this."

Lu Bai caught the bottle, confused, and glanced around.

SWOOSH!

A long, thin black shadow suddenly shot out from the woods.

Lu Bai slashed with his sword!

SPLAT!

A spray of blood followed.

The black shadow was sliced in two and fell to the ground.

Lu Bai looked closely and saw it was a short-tailed viper with a triangular head.

Even after being cut in half, its upper body continued to wriggle toward Lu Bai, mouth agape, revealing a pair of fangs as its tongue flicked in and out.

With another swing of his sword, Lu Bai lopped its head off.

But he soon discovered all sorts of venomous creatures emerging from the surrounding grass.

Centipedes, spiders, venomous snakes, scorpions... and countless unidentifiable insects swarmed, surrounding him completely.

The sight made Lu Bai’s skin crawl, and he inwardly clicked his tongue in dismay.

He wouldn’t feel much pressure against a horde of ghosts and ghouls.

But facing a swarm of venomous creatures with only his sword, he felt truly overwhelmed.

Lu Bai quickly uncorked the porcelain bottle and swallowed the Elixir inside.

The Elixir had a pungent, alcoholic smell. A wave of nausea hit him, and he nearly vomited.

But after he swallowed the Elixir, the surrounding creatures indeed froze, not daring to advance, as if they feared the aura now emanating from him.

"A realgar pill?"

Lady Dou lowered the conch and sneered. "A single pill won’t last long. Once its effect wears off, you’re still dead!"

"CLUCK CLUCK!"

Just then, the sound of a rooster crowing came from nearby.

Upon hearing the crow, the venomous creatures surrounding Lu Bai grew agitated.

"Ah Ming is here!"

Lu Bai was overjoyed.

"Hmm?"

Lady Dou frowned. She quickly raised the conch to her lips and resumed playing the eerie music, trying to regain control of the creatures.

"COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO!"

Another crow resounded through Heaven and earth.

The sound was so loud it could pierce metal and shatter stone, and it even emanated a faint, oppressive might!

Lady Dou’s music was instantly cut off by the crow.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

Lady Dou heard a faint cracking sound near her ear.

She focused her gaze.

Cracks had actually appeared on the conch in her hands.

The swarm of venomous creatures grew restless. Unable to advance or retreat, they began to crowd together and attack one another.

With a flutter of wings, a Big Rooster with a red crest and a golden beak descended from the sky, landing beside Lu Bai. Its eyes gleamed with excitement as it began pecking furiously at the ground.

PECK! PECK! PECK!

Lu Bai couldn’t even clearly see Ah Ming’s movements.

Ah Ming pecked at the creatures like a chick pecking at grains, moving so fast its neck became a blur of afterimages.

Whether it was centipedes, spiders, scorpions, or snakes, the smaller ones were swallowed in a single peck.

As for the larger snakes, Ah Ming ripped them open, tore out their hearts and gallbladders, and swallowed them whole without even chewing.

The remaining creatures scattered and fled.

No matter how Lady Dou blew into her conch, she could no longer control them.

"Delicious, delicious..."

Ah Ming ate joyfully, spreading its wings in delight.

’That Fairy’s advice was right after all.’

’It’s still too early to tell if following this person will lead to a great opportunity.’

’But at least with him, there’s always plenty to eat!’

’I don’t even have to look for it myself—all this delicious food is served right up to me.’

’And what’s more... that man and woman over there smell even tastier...’
