The immortal thought about it for a moment, carefully weighing Edmond’s wish and what kind of payment would be suitable for something so great.

However, in the end, the immortal only smiled and said, "I want to watch you."

Edmond looked at him in confusion, clearly not expecting such a simple answer.

"Living forever is boring," the immortal explained. "I have seen countless people live and die, kingdoms rise and fall, and lovers promise each other eternity only to forget those promises in their next lives."

His smile grew slightly as he looked at Edmond. "So, watching a fool willingly suffer for the woman he loves should at least keep me entertained."

Edmond was not offended by his words. Instead, he immediately asked, "Does that mean you’ll grant my wish?"

"I will," the immortal replied. "But you should understand what you’re asking for. Once your fates are exchanged, the punishment that belongs to Rose will become yours. You will suffer through a hundred lives without knowing why, and every time you meet her again, happiness will never come easily."

Edmond remained silent for a moment before asking, "What about Rose?"

"What will happen to her after we exchange our fates?" Edmond continued. "Will she still have to suffer?"

"No," the immortal replied.

That single word was enough.

"Then do it," Edmond said firmly.

The immortal stared at him for a long moment before letting out a soft laugh. He had expected fear, hesitation, or perhaps even regret after explaining what awaited him.

Instead, Edmond looked more relieved than afraid.

"You really are a fool."

"Perhaps," Edmond replied calmly. "But if she can live without suffering, then I don’t mind being one."

The immortal’s smile slowly faded as he raised one hand. A soft golden light appeared around his fingers before spreading toward Edmond’s soul.

"Very well. Your wish has been heard."

The light grew brighter until Edmond could no longer see anything around him.

At the same time, the memory before Primrose’s eyes began to fall apart.

The burning Holy Temple slowly disappeared into darkness, and when Primrose finally opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the high wooden ceiling above her.

She was back in the warehouse, meaning she had finally returned from Rose’s memories.

In an instant, her eyes widened and she gasped. Her body jerked upward on instinct, and she immediately sat up on the floor.

For a moment, she could only stare ahead without blinking as she tried to make sense of all the memories rushing through her mind.

Everything Rose had experienced in the past had become a part of her. The pain, the sadness, the anger, and even the precious moments of happiness she had shared with Edmund all felt as real as her own memories.

Lorelle, who was sitting right beside Primrose, immediately called out when she saw her wake up. "Your Majesty, you’re awak—"

"Edmund!"

Primrose didn’t even pay attention to Lorelle the moment her eyes landed on Edmund, who was lying not far away from her.

It seemed that he had also just awakened from the memories that had bound the two of them together.

"Edmund! Edmund!"

Primrose quickly tried to stand, but her legs suddenly gave out beneath her. She fell back onto her knees, yet she barely seemed to notice the pain because all she wanted was to reach him.

Unable to stand properly, Primrose began crawling toward him instead.

However, before she could get very far, Edmund had already pushed himself up from the floor and hurried toward her.

His legs buckled for a moment as well, his body still weak from everything he had just experienced. Even so, Edmund quickly forced himself back onto his feet.

He crossed the distance between them as fast as he could before dropping down in front of Primrose and pulling his wife tightly into his arms.

"I’m here. I’m here," Edmund whispered as he held her close. His voice was a little hoarse, but Primrose could clearly hear the fear in it.

He barely even blinked, as if he was afraid she might disappear the moment he looked away. His arms tightened around his wife, holding her as close as he possibly could.

Primrose wasn’t the only one who had seen the memories of their past. Edmund had witnessed everything as well.

He had watched as his sweet and gentle wife slowly became a cold Saintess. He had seen the brief happiness she once had, only for it to be taken away from her. Little by little, all the warmth inside Rose had disappeared until there was almost nothing left.

The Saintess didn’t look like Primrose at all. They had different faces and had lived completely different lives, but they still shared the same soul.

Everything Rose had suffered through must have left marks deep inside Primrose’s soul, even if she had never remembered them until now.

Maybe that was why his wife cried so easily in this life. After all, back then, Rose had suffered so much that she eventually became unable to cry easily.

Perhaps that was also why Primrose had always felt uncomfortable whenever the priests of the Moon Goddess Temple tried to treat her like a Saintess.

And maybe that was why... his wife was afraid of thunder.

Because in that past life, whenever the storms came, Rose had always faced them alone.

In fact, she had faced almost everything alone, including the most painful moments of her life.

"It was... my fault." Primrose gripped Edmund’s shirt tightly, her fingers trembling as she held onto him. Tears filled her eyes and quickly spilled down her cheeks, soaking into his clothes. "You suffered because of me. I—"

"I was the one who asked for it," Edmund interrupted her before she could finish. "I was the one who made that deal. I chose to exchange our fates."

He lowered his head and closed his eyes, holding her even tighter in his arms. When he spoke again, his voice was gentle and calm. "A hundred painful lives are nothing compared to what I have now."

Edmund slowly opened his eyes and looked at the woman in his arms.

"I can hold you in this lifetime, and I can finally give you the life we should have had back then," Edmund continued softly. "If suffering through those lives was the price I had to pay to find you again, then I would still make the same choice."
