Selene’s POV

"Please, I’d like to do this in the presence of you all..."

"The reason this is being done on a day like today ... the day of the Festival of Music and Arts in Morvaine ... is because I want you all to celebrate with me."

Loud cheers erupted from everywhere. I could see the entire scene from where I sat, which felt like a pinnacle. Everyone had gathered like a colosseum below, their voices raised to the sky. My makeup was done flawlessly and I was adorned in the best way possible. In fact, it was the prettiest dress I’d ever worn in my life.

It was a sky blue gown. That was how sky blue became my favourite colour.

It looked so good on me. When I looked in the mirror, I saw elegance and unmatchable beauty staring back.

It felt good to be pregnant for the Alpha. I was revisiting that thought when it happened.

I was called out the moment Alpha Lucian declared, "My breeder is carrying my child." I emerged with careful, calculated steps ... guided by Tessa on my left and my makeup artist on my right.

Everyone looked at me. The cheers were deafening. They poured sky blue flower petals on me in thick, generous waves. It was a surprise ... one that left me smiling so wide my cheeks hurt. The petals spilled out into the crowd until they filled every space where people stood. I waved to everyone cheering for me. Then I sat down.

Two little wolf pups climbed up to where I sat and offered me flowers. They were adorable female pups ... so tiny, so precious. I took the flowers, and one of them pecked me on the cheek. The other rubbed sky blue paint onto my forehead.

It was a sign. It signified good grace and mercy for a safe delivery.

I felt so warm inside.

"Thank you so much" became my mantra throughout the night. The gifts were enormous and heartwarming. It was a great baby shower. The heir of the Alpha was going to be a great person ... his introductory ceremony was already proving that.

The moment the baby shower wrapped up, Lucian declared, "Let the festival continue!" ... followed by screams and the immediate scatter of music across the entire grounds.

Alpha Roran didn’t come to greet me and my baby. He was the only one who didn’t. He knows what he did. Maybe he couldn’t forgive himself. But what was done was done, and he couldn’t make it right. If only he could go back in time, he would have investigated properly. But he didn’t. He just issued a decree after fake evidence was brought before him.

That was his business. I had moved on and I didn’t care about him or whatever was eating at him. I was in a better place now. I told myself that and I meant it.

Dancing followed the cheers. Astrid and her team took the floor, representing Bloodmoon. It was beautiful to watch ... except that my sister looked at me like I was the only maggot inside a perfectly presented meal. A traitor didn’t deserve to walk around this freely. But some people always seemed to have their way, didn’t they?

The synchronisation of the beats matched their steps perfectly. They earned their cheers.

They were vibing to contemporary music, and as usual the females were dressed in skimpy outfits. Astrid was their leader, so hers was the most revealing of all ... putting everything on display for the public. I expected nothing less from her. She was probably on the hunt for new prey. The only difference this time was that the prey would have to walk into her trap himself. She wasn’t doing the chasing.

Astrid was a bad person. A parasite. She destroyed everyone she came into contact with ... or everyone who came into contact with her.

All I could do was pity whoever was next to taste her pussy.

Dead meat.

I found no joy watching her perform. Thank goddess her session finally came to an end. Other teams came up after her, and the energy shifted completely. The team from Winterwood was exhilarating ... I’d never felt so much thrill from a performance. It was a mixed-gender dance. They performed an opera-stage kind of eerie choreography. The sound was subtle and slow. You could count every step. They were passing a message through their bodies, and it was received loud and clear. Love was their resounding declaration. I wished I could dance like that. I got completely lost in their movement.

Several other performances carried through the second day, all of which I enjoyed.

By the third day, the festival was packed with stars showcasing their talents ... acting, sports, spectacle of every kind. Morvaine really had talent. I could see us taking over the world. We’d done it before according to history, and we could do it again. Better this time.

The closing event of the tournament was the car race.

This was the part of the festival aired across major stations in every district. It was a moment Morvaine lived for. We were breaking new ground. Even if the other events went unaired, this one reached every media platform available.

Business people and the most influential men in the kingdom had invested heavily in whoever would emerge the winner. Big sponsorships, donations, partnerships ... the headlines called it The Game of the Century, and they weren’t wrong.

They were ready to begin. A general referee stood in position, with officials on standby watching for any foul play and ensuring fairness throughout. The flags were raised. Tensions climbed. Ten players sat in their sports cars, engines growling ... and then they were told to go.

They erupted down the road with blinding speed.

Loud shouts filled the air. Phones went up everywhere, capturing memories. Coloured smoke poured into the sky.

Every player gave everything they had. No one slacked ... not with prize money that size on the line. The race was supposed to last twenty minutes.

Ten minutes in, someone had a ghastly accident. His car collided into a wall. The medical team rushed in immediately, pulling him free just before the car blew up in a ball of fire. It was a serious crash ... one that later cost him his left leg.

Nine players remained and they pushed hard toward the finish line. One player won. He hadn’t looked like a contender in the beginning, but as they say ... slow and steady wins the race.

The male wolf took the gold medal. Two others shared the silver and bronze.

From that day forward, that player became a legend. Vyker was his name. His win made him famous across the district. He landed ambassadorial deals and his face was everywhere.

The tournament had been a great one. A tragedy that it had to end. Four more years before we’d experience anything like it again.

Astrid’s team won an honorary medal. That was a great achievement for them all ... I gave them that, even if I couldn’t stand the woman leading them.

The Winterwood dance team also won an honorary medal and received thunderous cheers. They even created a new dance during the festival that went viral and became a trend overnight. I was proud of them.

Eventually, my nurse led me back into the king’s chambers to continue caring for myself and the baby. But there was no doubt about it ... I had enjoyed every moment of this festival.
