Chapter 215: Chapter 215 Threat and Sabotage

_Alaric’s POV_

I motioned for Gabriel to step outside and wait by the car. Once the doors closed behind him, I turned back to face Mr. Logan, keeping my hands resting casually in my jacket pockets.

"What is on your mind, Mr. Logan?" I asked, my voice flat and void of any emotion.

He gestured toward two leather armchairs near the fireplace, but I remained standing right where I was. He let out a low chuckle, taking a slow sip from a glass of whiskey he was holding.

"You are a busy man, Alpha King, so I will not beat around the bush," Mr. Logan began, his eyes bright. "Look around this estate. My family has supported the Ashthorne throne for three generations. We have wealth, political influence, and deep connections with the surrounding packs. And my daughter, Brielle, is a brilliant doctor who has loved you since she was a young girl."

I felt my jaw tighten, but I didn’t interrupt him.

"A true king needs a queen who brings stability to his reign," Mr. Logan continued, taking a slow step toward me. "Rowena is a lovely woman, I am sure. But she is a nobody from a rich background, she has no strong bloodline, and no political power to offer you. If you bring her to the throne, the pack elders will never truly respect your court. But if you marry Brielle, our families will unite, and your power over the entire territory will be completely untouchable. I would like nothing more than for us to officially become in-laws."

"My personal life is not open for political negotiations, Mr. Logan," I replied coldly, my tone laced with a threat. "I choose my own path, and I choose who stands by my side. If that is all you wanted to say, I will take my leave."

I turned on my heel to walk away, but his next words stopped me dead in my tracks.

"Is that so?" He spoke up, his voice dropping into a dangerous tone. "Even if choosing that girl puts your aunt’s life directly in danger?"

I froze instantly, turning my head to glare at him. The air in the room dropped, Phillip was growling deep within my chest. "What did you just say?"

He didn’t flinch under my deadly gaze. Instead, he set his glass down on the table with a click.

"Kristy’s health is failing faster than the pack knows, Alaric," Mr. Logan said slowly. "Her wolf spirit is dead. The only medical team in the entire region with the specialized knowledge to keep her alive during this delicate limb transition is the team controlled by my family’s private medical foundation. If you publicly humiliate my daughter and choose an outsider, my medical team will resign from Kristy’s case immediately." He took another step closer, looking me straight in the eyes. "Rowena might be able to build a piece of metal, Alpha King. But can she keep your aunt’s heart beating when the surgery goes wrong? Think very carefully about what matters more to you.....your pride, or your last living family member’s life."

A suffocating silence fell over the room.

My knuckles turned white as I clenched my fists inside my pockets, my blood running ice cold with pure rage. He had backed me into a corner. For the first time in my life as Alpha King, I felt completely trapped.

If I openly rejected Brielle and embarrassed the Logan family, they would pull their top medical specialists out of the hospital, leaving Aunt Kristy to suffer without expert care. Rowena couldn’t do surgery, her work was jus to produce the leg.

I couldn’t give this man the satisfaction of seeing my anger. I didn’t say another word, I simply turned around, shoved open the front doors, and marched out of the mansion.

"Alpha?" Gabriel asked in surprise as I practically ripped open the car door myself.

"Drive to the private clubhouse," I barked out, slamming the door shut behind me.

Gabriel’s eyes widened in the rearview mirror, but he didn’t dare ask a single question. He stepped on the gas, speeding away from the Logan estate.

I rarely ever went to the pack’s private clubhouse. It was a place for upper class nobles to drink, gamble, and network, and I usually avoided it at all costs.

But right now, my mind was racing, my chest was tight, and the rage burning in my veins was so intense I felt like I was going to explode.

I needed a drink, and I needed to figure out how to break free from this stupid trap that had just beenlaid out for me.

_Rowena’s POV_

The morning before the final submission day arrived, I woke up early and walked straight down the staircase into my underground study. I was expecting to see the 3D printer finishing the final polish on the ankle joint.

Instead, the moment I stepped into the room, my heart stopped.

The glass cover of the 3D printing was sitting wide open. The main control board had been completely pulled out, its delicate wires snapped in half, and the core nerve sensor module I had spent days assembling was lying on the floor, shattered into pieces.

Someone had snuck into my private lab while I was sleeping and deliberately tampered with my work.

I didn’t scream, even if I wanted to burn the entire mansion down. My expression went completely stone cold as I turned around, walked back upstairs to the main hall, and summoned every single servant working in the Ashthorne estate to stand in a line before me.

"Someone entered my private study last night and destroyed my equipment," I said, my voice dangerously calm as I walked down the line of trembling servants. "I am giving the person who did it one chance to step forward right now."

Silence filled the hall. Every single servant quickly shook their head, crying out their innocence and denying they had ever stepped foot near the basement floor.

I walked past the butler, past the kitchen staff, until I stopped right in front of a young, timid looking maid named Mia. She was staring fixedly at the floor, her hands clutching her white apron so tightly her knuckles were turning white.

More importantly, a faint smell of high grade machine oil was clinging to her apron.

I stopped right in front of her, leaning down slightly. "Mia." I remembered her name, even if I didn’t know her much.

The girl let out a gasp, her whole body shaking violently as she raised her terrified eyes to look at me. "M-My Lady! I swear I didn’t do anything! I was in the laundry room all night!"

"You smell like the lubricant oil from my 3D printer, Mia," I said pointedly, my voice cutting through her lies. "And there are tiny traces of blue graphite powder under your fingernails, the exact same powder I used to polish the joint hinges yesterday."

Mia froze completely, tears immediately welled up in her eyes, spilling over her pale cheeks as she fell to her knees right in front of me, sobbing.

"I am sorry! I am so sorry, My Lady!" She wept, holding her hands up in desperate plea.

I looked down at the weeping girl, my eyes narrowing. Mia was always secluded and didn’t look like she could even stand her own shadow, she didn’t have the courage or the brain to come up with a sabotage plan on her own.

"I am not going to turn you over to the guards just yet, Mia," I said, my tone dropping into a command. "Tell me right now, who paid you to break into my lab?"
