The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1928: Agreeing to Take Little Taotie Along

  • Next Chapter

The Ghost Enforcer Uncle was still hesitating, fretting as he said, "Last time Lord Judge already said that was the last exception."

Little Taotie blinked. "Then let’s ask Sister Meng and just go through her. Can we skip the Underworld and go straight through the Reincarnation Palace?"

"That... is not exactly impossible."

Little Taotie pulled out a handful of chocolate and stuffed it into his hand. "Sister Meng loves chocolate. All of these are for her!"

The Ghost Enforcer Uncle’s eyes went wide. "So much, all for her? You must’ve been saving up for quite a while, that’s no easy feat. If you give it all to her, what are you going to eat?"

"Relax! I’ve got plenty to eat!"

Little Taotie’s eyes rolled, and she grabbed another handful—about five pieces of chocolate.

Her chubby little hand shoved the chocolate into the Ghost Enforcer Uncle’s coat pocket, not giving him any chance to refuse. In her milky baby voice she said, "This is for you, Uncle. You work really hard too, you need to补补 yourself!"

The Ghost Enforcer Uncle’s face flushed red. He quickly took the chocolate back out, flustered. "I can’t take this. If I keep taking your snacks, what kind of person does that make me!"

"I have lots, don’t worry!"

Little Taotie patted her crossbody bag and hopped far away, not giving the Ghost Enforcer Uncle a chance to stuff the chocolates back into her pocket.

Having been left holding nothing, the Ghost Enforcer Uncle felt his old face couldn’t take the embarrassment. After struggling for a long while, he could only shove the chocolates back into his own pocket and promised, "Don’t worry, even if Lord Judge refuses to process this, I’ll still help you get it done!"

Little Taotie giggled. "Don’t worry, you don’t have to make it so hard on yourself. That’s just the worst-case scenario. Maybe Uncle Tie is doing just fine right now and hasn’t turned into a Ghost at all."

"Then I should really give the chocolate back to you!" the Ghost Enforcer Uncle said anxiously.

Little Taotie waved her little hand. "It’s not easy for Ghost Enforcer Uncle to make this trip. You’ll definitely have to work overtime and rush around handling other stuff. I’ve held you up for so long, I’m just treating you to a bit of chocolate, that’s all. Relax, I’ve got a ton!"

The Ghost Enforcer Uncle glanced at her bag and asked hesitantly, "You really have a lot?"

"Yup yup!"

Hua Jinyan was the only one present who knew for sure that Little Taotie’s bag of chocolate was already emptied out.

Little Taotie turned to look at Lu Yuan and hummed, "Now you’ve got one more reason you can’t not take us along. If you don’t bring us, the Ghost Enforcer Uncle won’t help you."

"For someone so young, you’re awfully good at threats." Lu Yuan pressed at his temples.

He no longer had any reason to refuse.

Even though he worried about the safety of these two kids, compared to Old Tie, whose situation was unknown and likely dangerous, he couldn’t care that much anymore.

"Taking you along isn’t impossible, but you have to promise you’ll listen to me the whole time."

Little Taotie snapped off a military salute. "Yes, sir!"

Hua Jinyan gave him a calm look, responded with a faint "mm," and remained a bit aloof.

"Ghost Enforcer Uncle, do you still have tasks to handle today?"

"One more." The Ghost Enforcer Uncle opened his notebook to show Little Taotie.

"Is it urgent? How about we go collect this one with you first, then go look for Uncle Tie together?" Little Taotie leaned over to read. "Huh? Died an unnatural death, killed by her Granny, doused in gasoline and burned to death!!!"

In the notebook, besides the name and address of the Ghost to be collected, there was her cause of death and the exact time she was to be taken away, all recorded in detail.

Little Taotie stared with her eyes wide in shock, her pupils full of disbelief.

The Ghost Enforcer Uncle closed the notebook, his tone calm. "She’s not urgent. Lord Judge said she needs to see through a few people’s true faces, give up on them, and only then can she let go of everything and choose to be reborn."

"See through who? If she has a Granny, then she must have a husband! Are you going to let her linger in this world as a Ghost for a few more days so she can see what kind of person her husband really is?" Little Taotie tilted her head and asked.

"Smart." The Ghost Enforcer Uncle’s tone carried a hint of ’hate iron for not becoming steel.’ "She hates her Granny, but still harbors feelings for her husband. Utterly foolish. Three lifetimes already, all ruined by this man. Even Lord Judge couldn’t stand watching anymore. He wants her to stay a few more days and really see the truth clearly—see who actually wanted her dead, who gave her Granny the gasoline. So she won’t be a fool again in her next life."
