The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!
Chapter 1925 - 527: The Bell Sound of the Republic Rings in Another Theater
The night on Queen Street is always more bustling than the day, and tonight at Colin Grand Theater, it's particularly so, with its splendid entrance crowded with people and cars coming and going.
Inside Colin Grand Theater, the heavy red velvet curtain falls to the ground, isolating the bustling crowd and noise below the stage.
Behind the stage.
Kaylee repeatedly took deep breaths, adjusting her emotions, then glanced at the script once more, engraving the lines deep in her mind.
The features of the Enchanting Demon have been hidden through Subspace magic, a talent innate to High-level Enchanting Demons.
Though she is not a top student at Demon King Academy compared to Senior Luo Yan, she still holds a level of skill above those demons born with silver spoons in their mouths.
Unless facing the Judicial Court, not even a Priest standing before her would easily see through her disguise.
"Come on, Eloise, you can do it." She silently recites the name of the role she's about to perform, fully immersing herself in the storyline.
Meanwhile, "Eagle," who is acting alongside her, also has a tense face, making final preparations.
Although her acting seems average, she perfectly portrays the male protagonist "Matthew's" honesty, naivety, and straightforwardness.
Well, let's trust her for now.
Kaylee felt assured, but the "Feathered Vulture" disguised as "Eagle" couldn't relax.
In reality, a man, she's currently playing a female character, tasked to portray a handsome youth in the stage play "Bell Sound" with a loli identity.
She was a bit confused.
So, is she male or female now?!
...
Below the stage.
The air floated with the scent of aromatic candles and the sweet, cloying perfumes of the noblewomen.
In the audience, Mignes leaned back on the soft seat, fingers interlocked on his knees, patiently waiting for the show to start.
As a fabric merchant from Wulan Port, he knew that quality cloth required time to weave, unlike other noisy nouveau riches.
Usually, the theater in Thunder City staged some mediocre plays, even when Mr. Punk invested and named the theater after Colin.
The stories on stage often involve knights swinging swords to sever the Demon King's head or a distressed Princess awaiting salvation in Holy Light... accompanied by various demons appearing successively.
But he heard the Iris Flower Theater Troupe was different.
This performance troupe from the Holy City excels in both artistic expression and script writing, unlike the lackadaisical playwrights of Thunder City.
Okay, perhaps this is somewhat biased.
The real reason is that Mignes hadn't visited the Holy City, so he was somewhat expectant of its arts.
Though the name "Bell Sound" sounds like a sacred sermon or a saint's passion narrative, different plots are always better than the same.
The curtain slowly opens.
No opulent palaces, no eerie demonic lairs.
The stage only has some straw bundles, old wooden boards, and backdrop walls for the scenery. Under the rendering of Magic Crystal Lamp light, the crew used limited materials to construct a modest yet beautifully detailed little village.
Just like the pastoral dreams shared by Campbell people and Ryan people.
A young man stepped out; he was a farmer's child named "Matthew," played by a newcomer named "Eagle."
Honestly, Mignes hadn't seen such exquisite country folks, not only excessively handsome but also with a smooth neck and no protrusion at the throat.
However… what does that matter?
Realistic stage plays aren't interesting; interesting stage plays aren't realistic. There's never a cake that's both sweet and not sweet.
He tasted the Champagne presented by the waiter, intrigued by the female-disguised role, more so than the nearby Miss Eloise.
Speaking of Miss Eloise, she was also bewilderingly beautiful. Her graceful appearance caused a moment of silence in the once noisy audience.
Some can make silk look like a rag; however, she wore a coarse cloth skirt like soft silk. The gentleness between her brows wasn't the affected elegance of noble ladies but akin to freshly baked bread, exuding comforting wheat fragrance and maternal warmth.
She brought the character to life, resembling the fictional maiden in the hearts of Ryan people and Campbell people—pure, good-hearted, fragile yet resilient.
As the audience eagerly anticipated amidst whispers, the "Bell Sound" echoed on stage with their bows and soothing, melodious music.
Act One—
The night before the wedding.
Villagers sat together, portraying the warm and busy life in the village on a chaotic yet orderly stage, with several vaudeville actors amusingly capturing the audience's attention, a scene of leisurely joy and noise.
The music naturally transitioned, and soft light fell onto the heroine.
Eloise's fingers threaded through vines and wildflowers, weaving a crown symbolizing blessings. Butterflies flitted around her, enhancing that beauty.
"The day after tomorrow, I shall wed my lover... Hope it's a sunny day."
Eloise held the garland in her hand, cheeks slightly flushed, her eyes bright like stars.
The village's weaver woman grasped Eloise's hands, offering sincere and wonderful blessings.
"It surely will, we will all pray for you!"
