The spatial portal of Oakhaven collapsed behind them with a soft, resonant hum of violet etheric light, leaving Lucian Vale and Elara Veyne standing in the suffocating darkness of an underground basalt chamber. The air here was heavy, hot, and metallic, reeking of old blood, scorched gold, and the overwhelming, stagnant aura of eight centuries of absolute monarchical power. One hundred and twenty feet directly above their heads, the deep, muffled vibrations of royal heralds, marching palace guards, and courtly chamber music echoed faintly through solid bedrock—the beating heart of the Royal Palace of Asterra.

For eight hundred years, the Royal Palace had stood as the supreme symbol of divine authority on the continent. Within its glittering white marble halls, King Aster I and the High Council ruled over millions of citizens, issuing edicts that dictated who could learn magic, who could advance their Class, and which books were permitted to exist. To the common populace, the King was an immortal sovereign blessed by the System with an unreachable Level and divine stats that made him invincible.

Yet as Lucian Vale expanded his [Truth Realm Domain (Level 1)], the glittering facade of divine kingship dissolved into an ugly, engineered lie.

A thousand-meter sphere of golden truth radiated outward from Lucian, penetrating solid basalt, ancient ironwood supports, and layers of imperial warding runes. Through the eyes of the Grand Archivist, the true structure of the palace was exposed. Embedded directly beneath the royal throne room, suspended inside a massive cylindrical vault of black obsidian, rested Node Five (The Royal Palace Origin Core)—a thirty-foot pillar of dark, pulsating crystal encased in bands of forged gold and dripping with dark red mana conduits.

"Lucian..." Elara whispered, her voice tight with tension as she adjusted her brass oil lantern. The golden light flickered against the smooth, damp walls of the basalt corridor. "The pressure here... it feels different from the other anchors. It feels oppressive, like a heavy hand pressing down on my chest."

"That is because Node Five was never designed merely to siphon mana," Lucian replied softly, his voice calm and unshakeable in the dark. "Nodes One through Four siphoned the magic of the common people—their language, their healing, their combat flow, and their elemental synthesis. But Node Five is the governor engine. It gathers all those stolen streams of power, compresses them, and feeds them directly into the royal throne and the Sovereign's Crown."

He adjusted his silver fountain pen inside his breast pocket and unclasped his black velvet book, Chronicles of the Sunless Era.

"King Aster I does not possess divine strength because he was chosen by the heavens," Lucian continued, stepping forward as his boots moved without sound across the dusty floor. "He possesses high stats because he has been leeching eighty percent of the continent's potential for eight hundred years. He is not a god. He is a parasite wearing a crown."

Elara gasped, her dark eyes widening as the full horror of his words sank in. "An entire kingdom forced into artificial weakness... just to keep one bloodline on a throne."

"And tonight," Lucian said, "that throne comes down."

Together, they walked down the ancient basalt corridor toward the massive vault doors at the end of the passage. The corridor was lined with towering statues of the past six monarchs of Asterra, each holding a golden sword and bearing a glowing System crest upon their stone foreheads. But as Lucian passed them, his [Truth Realm Domain] stripped away the illusory enchantments, revealing that the statues were constructed over the crushed stone tablets of the First Era Wardens of Ardel.

Standing before the master entrance of the Origin Vault, Lucian confronted a massive double door crafted from pure star-gold alloy. Embedded in the center of the doors was the Royal Seal of Asterra—a crown resting atop a broken book—surrounded by a Tier 5 Imperial Warding Array (The Sovereign's Immutable Seal).

A floating, crimson System warning materialized in Lucian's vision:

[WARNING: TIER 5 IMPERIAL ORIGIN VAULT DETECTED] [SECURITY PROTOCOL: THE SOVEREIGN'S IMMUTABLE SEAL] [REQUIREMENT: ROYAL BLOODLINE AUTHENTICATION OR LEVEL 100 SOVEREIGN CLASS] [UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS WILL TRIGGER IMPERIAL ANNIHILATION CURSE]

Lucian smiled faintly, a calm, dismissive expression touching his dark eyes. He didn't reach for a royal crest, nor did he display an artificial System Level. Instead, he raised his right hand, allowing the brilliant silver-and-gold light of Ancestral Old Asterian runes to dance across his fingers.

"A door locked with stolen gold," Lucian murmured. "Written in a language created by a traitor who feared the truth."

Using [Omniscient Indexing (Level 1)], Lucian scanned the Tier 5 warding array in a fraction of a second. His mind instantly deconstructed the 14,000 interconnected spell threads forming the imperial lock. He placed his silver fountain pen directly onto the central keystone of the star-gold door and began to write in the fluid, elegant calligraphy of the First Era.

"Let no crown sit upon a throne forged from stolen words," Lucian spoke aloud, his voice echoing in ancient Asterian. "For the truth belongs to all who read, not to those who wear gold."

The silver ink sank deep into the star-gold alloy. The crimson System warning flickered wildly, turns pale blue, and then shattered like fragile glass.

[TIER 5 IMPERIAL WARD DECONSTRUCTED] [AUTHENTICATION OVERRIDDEN: LOREKEEPER / GRAND ARCHIVIST AUTHORITY RECOGNIZED] [VAULT ACCESS GRANTED]

With a heavy, metallic groan, the thirty-foot star-gold doors unsealed, swinging slowly inward to reveal the inner sanctuary of the Origin Vault.

Inside, suspended over a deep pit of liquid red mana, hung Node Five. The dark crystal pillar throbbed with a sickening, heavy pulse, sending thick red conduits up through the stone ceiling directly into the base of the Royal Throne above. Surrounding the floating anchor were four grand pedestals made of carved marble. Resting upon the central pedestal was an ancient, leather-bound volume wrapped in iron chains and sealed with a heavy lock of black gold—The Sovereign Compact of the First King.

Elara stepped into the vault, her eyes fixed on the chained volume. "Lucian... look. That book... it bears the original seal of the First Council."

Lucian approached the pedestal, his [Truth Realm Domain] washing over the chained book. With a flick of his wrist using [Etheric Weaving (Level 2)], the iron chains dissolved into fine metallic dust, releasing the volume. The black gold lock snapped open, and the heavy leather cover fell open to reveal pristine pages written in the handwriting of King Aster I himself, dated eight hundred years ago.

Lucian's eyes scanned the pages as [Omniscient Indexing] processed the entire document in seconds.

"This is the original compact," Lucian said, his voice cold with righteous anger. "Written during the final year of the Cataclysm War. King Aster I was not a hero who defeated the monsters. He was a high-ranking Warden of Oakhaven who panicked when the atmospheric mana fluctuated. Instead of allowing humanity to adapt to the natural magic of the world, he struck a secret deal with the First Council to create the System. He locked eighty percent of the world's mana inside seven anchors, created artificial Levels and Classes to restrict human growth, and erased the kingdom of Ardel so no one would ever discover that magic was once free."

"He enslaved his own people..." Elara whispered, tears of outrage welling in her eyes. "He built an empire on a lie, murdered the mages of Ardel, and condemned generations to artificial weakness just to become an immortal king."

Suddenly, the dark crystal anchor suspended above the liquid mana pit flared with a violent, blinding crimson light. The entire vault shook as the subterranean defense mechanism of Node Five awakened.

[WARNING: NODE FIVE DEFENSE PROTOCOL ACTIVATED] [TIER 5 SYSTEM CURSE INITIATED: MANDATE OF THE GOLDEN CROWN] [EFFECT: COMPULSORY MONARCHICAL SUBMISSION / TOTAL MENTAL ERASURE / CLASS REVOCATION]

A crushing wave of dark red energy erupted from the anchor, washing over the vault like an avalanche. The aura carried the absolute, terrifying pressure of eight centuries of royal authority, designed to force any intruder to their knees, wipe their memories, and strip them of their Class.

Elara stumbled back, gasping as the pressure pressed down upon her shoulders. But before the red aura could touch her, Lucian stepped in front of her and raised his black notebook.

[PASSIVE SKILL ACTIVATED: ABSOLUTE ERASURE IMMUNITY] [IMPERIAL CURSE NEUTRALIZED: 100% RESISTANCE TO MONARCHICAL SUBMISSION]

[CLASS EVOLUTION ADVANTAGE: GRAND ARCHIVIST OF TRUTH CANNOT BE STRIPPED OF CLASS BY AN ARTIFICIAL SYSTEM]

The crushing wave of imperial aura slammed into Lucian's golden domain and vanished like water thrown against a blazing furnace. Lucian stood completely unfazed, his dark eyes glowing with brilliant sapphire light as he stared up at the dark crystal anchor.

"Your mandate is expired, Aster," Lucian said into the echoing chamber, his voice filled with absolute, unyielding authority. "You have ruled through fear and stolen magic for eight hundred years. But a king who steals from his people is no sovereign. He is merely a thief waiting to be judged."

Lucian raised his silver fountain pen. Drawing upon the pure, unadulterated mana of the Grand Hearth of Ardel through his [Etheric Relay Network (Level 1)], he stepped forward, his boots walking across the open air as if ascending invisible granite stairs.

He stopped directly before the floating dark crystal of Node Five. With swift, masterly strokes, Lucian began to write upon the surface of the anchor using [Reality Transcription (Level 1)]. He did not destroy the anchor; he rewrote its fundamental routing logic, inscribing the original Oath of the First Wardens in Ancestral Old Asterian:

"The Hearth burns for all who seek light. No crown shall hoard the sun."

As the final rune was completed, a brilliant pillar of golden-and-sapphire light erupted from the black crystal. The dark red conduits connecting Node Five to the throne room above turned gold, then shattered with a sound like thunder! The siphon was completely severed. Eighty percent of the stolen royal mana was instantly released back into the atmospheric ley-lines of the capital, while the core of Node Five was permanently linked to the Grand Hearth of Ardel.

[HISTORICAL RECTIFICATION COMPLETE: NODE FIVE (THE ROYAL PALACE ORIGIN CORE)] [ROYAL MANA SIPHON SEVERED PERMANENTLY] [ATMOSPHERIC LEY-LINE DENSITY IN THE CAPITAL INCREASED BY 350%] [ANCHOR ROUTING LINKED TO GRAND HEARTH OF ARDEL]

At that exact same moment, one hundred and twenty feet above in the Grand Throne Room of the Royal Palace...

King Aster I sat upon his gilded marble throne, surrounded by forty high dukes, royal archmagi, and High Commander Vane. The King was delivering a solemn decree regarding the sudden civil unrest caused by the distribution of The Oakhaven Manifesto.

"These heretical pamphlets are the work of traitors," King Aster I proclaimed, his voice booming with artificial royal authority that echoed through the marble hall. "The System is absolute! Our divine right to rule is—"

Suddenly, the King choked.

A deafening crack, audible only to those attuned to magic, echoed beneath the throne room floor. The blinding golden aura that had surrounded King Aster I for eight centuries suddenly sputtered, flickered, and vanished like a dying candle!

The heavy, suffocating pressure that had pressed down upon every noble and guard in the room evaporated instantly. The King's towering, artificial stat aura collapsed. Before the horrified eyes of his court, King Aster I's face withered. His smooth, unblemished skin loosened into deep wrinkles; his golden hair turned snow-white; and his tall, imposing posture slouched into that of a fragile, trembling eighty-year-old man.

"My... my mana..." King Aster gasped, his frail voice thin and shaking as he clutched at his chest. "Where... where is my power?!"

High Commander Vane drew his golden broadsword, his face pale with terror as he looked down at his own hands. The artificial level boosts provided by the royal siphon had disappeared. His golden blade flickered with weak, unstable mana.

"Your Majesty..." Vane whispered, his voice trembling. "The core... the Origin Core beneath the throne... it's gone!"

A collective gasp echoed through the court as the dukes and archmagi looked at one another, their long-held fear of the monarch dissolving into shock, confusion, and sudden realization. The divine king was just a man. The royal aura was gone.

Down in the subterranean vault, Lucian Vale landed lightly back on the stone floor beside Elara. The vault was now filled with the warm, comforting golden-and-sapphire glow of the Hearth, the dark red liquid mana transformed into a clear, luminescent pool of pure ether.

Golden interface notifications cascaded before Lucian's eyes:

[EVENT COMPLETE: DEFENSE OF THE TRUE SOVEREIGNTY] [KNOWLEDGE POINTS GAINED: +500 KP] [CURRENT KNOWLEDGE POINTS: 4,500 / 5,000 KP (TIER 5)]

Elara held up the duplicated pages of The Sovereign Compact of the First King, her face glowing in the warm hearthlight. "Lucian... I've already set the Relay Network to duplicate this compact. Within an hour, every noble house, every guild, and every scholar in the capital will be reading the King's own handwriting."

Lucian nodded, adjusting his silver fountain pen inside his breast pocket and securing his black velvet book. "The crown has fallen. Now, only two anchors remain."

He turned his attention to the floating 3D map projected from his black book. Two glowing nodes remained on the continent map: Node Six (The Grand Aqueduct Network) and Node Seven (The Sunless Vault of the Inquisition).

Lucian pointed his pen toward the sixth node—the massive subterranean water network that supplied life and elemental mana to the entire capital and its surrounding agricultural provinces.

"To the Grand Aqueduct," Grand Archivist Lucian Vale said softly, his dark eyes filled with calm, unshakeable resolve. "Where they poisoned the water of the world to make the people thirsty for their System... and where we will set the rivers free."

With Elara at his side, Lucian stepped through the spatial portal into the next chapter of the world's unwritten history.
