Chapter 1421: Chapter 1421: Private Property

After Miaoqiu got out of the car, Lin Tian turned the car around and drove for nearly half an hour before arriving at the police station.

Striding into the station, Lin Tian walked up to an on-duty officer and asked, "Bro, may I know which officer is handling the assassination case at the City Central Hospital?"

The on-duty officer glanced at Lin Tian and asked, "You are...?"

Lin Tian patted his pants pocket, took out his wallet, and pulled out a small red ID booklet to hand to him.

The on-duty officer took the booklet and, after one look, his eyes instantly went wide. He muttered, "Security Management Institute..."

He flipped it open, looked at the photo, then at Lin Tian’s face, and asked, "This ID isn’t fake, is it?"

Lin Tian was amused and countered, "Whipping out a fake ID in a police station, and impersonating personnel from the Security Management Institute—tell me, do you think I’d dare pull that?"

Hearing that, the on-duty officer immediately passed the ID back to Lin Tian, raised his right hand above his brow in a salute, straightening his body and saying, "Good day, sir."

Lin Tian hurriedly motioned for him to put his hand down, smiling wryly as he said, "I’m no ’sir.’ It’s you folks on duty who deserve more respect. Now can you tell me who’s in charge of that case?"

"It’s Mr. Su. Go up to the second floor, turn right, and the second-to-last room is their office."

"Alright, thanks."

Lin Tian waved to him and headed toward the stairs.

At the door of the second-to-last office on the right, Lin Tian knocked, then walked in and asked, "Excuse me, which of you is Mr. Su?"

There were seven or eight people in the office, all buried in work. Hearing the voice, they all turned to look.

A man with thick brows, big eyes, and double eyelids, around thirty, stood up and said in a loud, rough voice, "I’m Su Tong. What can I do for you, sir?"

Lin Tian walked over to him, handed him the Security Management Institute ID, and chuckled. "Nothing major. I just want to ask you about the assassination case at the City Central Hospital."

He didn’t lower his voice, so everyone in the office heard him. They all looked at him curiously, wondering which big shot this was, talking so bluntly and right in front of everyone.

Su Tong looked at the ID, murmuring under his breath, "Security Management Institute, Sixth Team..."

After he finished reading, a trace of surprise flashed in his eyes. He respectfully handed the ID back to Lin Tian and asked, "Sir... Mr. Lin, what do you want to know? Anything I’m allowed to say, I’ll tell you."

Soon, Su Tong noticed the looks from his colleagues. He swept his gaze around, and his natural authority immediately made those curious colleagues lower their heads and get back to work.

Lin Tian smiled. "I heard there’s been new progress on the case, that you’ve found the weapon. Is that right?"

"Yes, it’s a black dagger. Very heavy. Anyone who can use it as a weapon must have considerable strength. But there was practically no evidence in that ward, so tracking the killer is extremely difficult."

"I want to take a look at the weapon. Is that possible?" Lin Tian asked.

That was the main reason for his visit. The weapon was part of the Thousand Jin Rock. Lin Tian selfishly wanted to claim it for himself, but it was currently critical evidence in the case; taking it away was obviously impossible. He just wanted to see it.

His intuition told him that this dagger tip from the Thousand Jin Rock was directly connected to his qi deviation in Zhao Qingtang’s room a couple of days ago.

Su Tong looked troubled. "We only found the weapon yesterday. The texture on its surface is so rough that it didn’t retain any fingerprints at all. So it’s basically useless as evidence. Just ten minutes ago, our captain took it away."

Lin Tian’s brows furrowed. "Where’s your captain going with it?"

"That, I don’t know."

"Then I’d like to trouble you to lead the way. I need to speak with your captain," Lin Tian said solemnly.

After hesitating for two seconds, Su Tong finally nodded. "Please follow me."

The two of them took the elevator, which didn’t stop until the seventh floor. Su Tong led Lin Tian to the captain’s office, knocked a few times, and after hearing a "Come in," pushed the door open.

They walked in side by side and saw that besides the captain, there were two guests in their thirties.

The three were sitting on the sofa, drinking tea and chatting.

Lin Tian’s sharp eyes spotted the black Thousand-Pound Rock Dagger sitting on the edge of the coffee table, sealed inside an evidence bag.

"Mr. Su, what is it? And who’s this gentleman with you?" The speaker was a middle-aged man with a crew cut and a slightly plump build, carrying a faint aura of authority.

"Mr. Sun, this is Lin Tian from the Sixth Team of the Security Management Institute. He’s here to see you about that weapon." Su Tong introduced Lin Tian. "This is our captain, surname Sun."

Mr. Sun stepped forward and shook hands with Lin Tian. Smiling, he said, "So you’re a comrade from the Security Management Institute. You’ve come a long way—sit, have some tea with us."

Su Tong was tactful enough to know he shouldn’t stay. He excused himself and left on his own.

Lin Tian didn’t stand on ceremony with Mr. Sun and sat down on the sofa in a straightforward manner. He had barely sat when he felt two pairs of eyes on him—belonging to the two other men on the sofa.

Keeping his expression neutral, Lin Tian asked, "Gentlemen, have we met?"

One of them, a sharp-featured, skinny man, replied in a raspy voice, "The renowned Mr. Lin—how could we not know you?"

Hearing that, Lin Tian smiled. The only people who addressed him as "Mr. Lin" were those from the ancient martial families.

"May I ask your surnames, brothers?" Lin Tian asked.

"We’re surnamed Wang," the other man said, his face sallow, with thin brows and small eyes. "As for our given names, we won’t bother. We’re minor figures; Mr. Lin wouldn’t remember them anyway."

Lin Tian chuckled. "So that’s who you are—people from the Wang Family."

Halfway through his sentence, he glanced at the Thousand-Pound Rock Dagger lying in front of the two of them. Then he turned his eyes to Mr. Sun and asked, "Could you lend me that dagger to take a look?"

Mr. Sun picked up the teapot and poured Lin Tian a cup of tea, setting it before him as he asked, "Mr. Lin, you came here for this dagger as well. I’d like to know why."

"You probably don’t know this, Mr. Sun, but the one who was stabbed at City Central Hospital is my brother. The thug used this dagger on him, so I want to see it."

"I see. But Mr. Lin, you’re a step late."

"What do you mean?"

"I’ve already given the dagger to these two gentlemen from the Wang Family. It’s no longer evidence; it’s now their private property. If you want to see it, it’s not my call. Why don’t you ask them?" Mr. Sun said with a smile.

Lin Tian looked at the two men from the Wang Family, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
