The Innkeeper

Chapter 2067: Good place to work out

Chapter 2067: Good place to work out

The Innkeeper looked towards Ventura, and then Voidmaw, and then just shook his head. Yeah, there was no way this rumor was going to stay suppressed. The Innkeeper was about to get cooked. Fortunately, at least his identity as Lex was going to stay out of this mess.

He wanted to ask a bit about Eclipse’s evil ex’s, but couldn’t. Questions like that were far too revealing, and could betray his knowledge or ignorance of common information. Lex was beginning to miss Ballom’s wife. Instead, he decided to turn the conversation in a different direction altogether.

"Aren’t the two of you interested in forming alliances for the ongoing war?" the Innkeeper asked.

"I already have too many alliances," Ventura said casually. "Anyone attacking my academy is provoking countless forces simply due to their children, or their invested assets suffering. But even if you ignore that, too many forces have vested interests in my success . I don’t even need to lift a hand, they will act on their own to protect me. However, if you ignore even that, then there is the fact that I personally have over 900 Dao Lords who obey me spread out across the 5 Major realms I control, not to mention my personal strength. Who exactly should I fear?"

The Innkeeper nodded softly, while internally Lex numbed his emotions and kept his butt from clenching. Over 900 Dao Lords? 5 Major realms? So what? As a young 25 year old, Lex had his whole life ahead of him to accumulate all that. Positive thoughts. Yes, with positive thinking on his side, it’s only a matter of time before he acquires 900 Dao Lords under him.

"I may not have all that, but I don’t fear anyone either," said Voidmaw casually. "The Voidmaw Grizzlies are adept at destroying realms and living in the Void. Whoever messes with us better be prepared to pay the price. But what about you? I don’t see you going out of your way to make alliances. From what I see, you’re actually discouraging them."

The Innkeeper chuckled upon hearing the question.

"I am just trying to run an Inn. I don’t need alliances for that, and if anyone wants to attack the Inn, they first have to deal with the infinite Wu Kongs that’ll annoy them for eternity. But ignoring how our guests might annoy anyone who attacks me, anyone considering attacking me would need to be sure they can kill me in one hit. Otherwise, for the rest of eternity, all sorts of monsters from across the universe will be teleporting into their lap. No part of their organisation will be safe, not one member who follows them will be able to escape."

The Innkeeper spoke casually, referring to his acknowledged teleportation ability as an incredible and grave threat to anyone who provoked him. In truth, he was not saying anything new. Anyone who wanted to probe the Innkeeper acknowledged his amazing teleportation ability. That was one of the key reasons he was considered such a big threat. It was also why everyone wanted him on their side, and yet no one wanted to pick a fight with him. Well, almost no one.

Just as Voidmaw was about to continue speaking, a strange look flashed through the Innkeepers eyes before he continued speaking.

"At most, if someone annoys me too much, I’ll teleport them directly to Abaddon."

Voidmaw was confused, unfamiliar with the name, yet Ventura suddenly snapped his head towards the Innkeeper, not expecting to hear such unexpected words.

"You know of Abaddon?" Ventura asked cautiously, unwilling to reveal any secrets just in case there was some misunderstanding.

"I went there once, when I was younger," the Innkeeper said dismissively. "I do not recommend it as a vacation spot. It’s good for a workout, though."

Ventura looked at the Innkeeper oddly, wondering if this guy was bluffing. Unfortunately, he could tell that he was not. He really did consider Abaddon a good place to workout.

"I don’t get it. Is Abaddon a really dangerous place? Why have I never heard of it?" Voidmaw asked, looking towards Ventura.

"You can consider Abaddon a tumor growing out of the side of this universe," Ventura said, tactfully. "It is a necessary evil. Its presence is a threat to the whole universe, sucking energy and resources from the universe itself, but it is also a convenient spot for the universe to dump all its trash - trash that would otherwise pollute the universe greatly. It is not a place anyone should visit, because the very purpose of that place is destruction. If the Innkeeper can send his enemies there at will, which should not be possible, then there is no Dao Lord alive who can afford to mess with him. He’s basically automatically a Dao King by default."

Voidmaw was both confused and shocked as he turned to look at the Innkeeper, who only casually shrugged, neither confirming nor denying anything.

"Damn, this tea party is just too great," he muttered under his breath.

The Innkeeper laughed, and stood up from within the tub.

"It has been a pleasure, gentlemen, but unless there’s something else I need to see to some matters," he said politely.

Neither Ventura, nor Voidmaw stopped him, only bidding him farewell as he left.

In truth, the reason Lex left was because he was running out of mental energy. He was on the verge of collapsing. If he didn’t get some rest soon, he might actually faint.

"Mary, I need your help," Lex uttered internally. "I need you to cover for me while I recover. Tell Eclipse I’ll personally deliver her a flower on your behalf. Things could get really bad if I don’t exit."

Without any hesitation, Mary’s full body projection appeared right beside the Innkeeper, just as Lex stumbled.

Ballom and Bridget just happened to walk inside the tavern, followed by a few other Dao Lords they were meaning to lead into a private room for a meeting. They appeared just in time to catch a scene of the Innkeeper supposedly leaning against a beautiful red head wearing a long, red gown.

Ballom froze and Bridget shrieked internally as they saw what looked like the Innkeeper intimately whispering something in her ear before disappearing.
