Chapter 410: Chapter 410 The battle begins 2

Talia’s POV

I saw Silas. He was calm, and he was precise.

"Left flank is weakening!" he shouted to Cain.

"I see it," Cain replied.

I saw Cain: He was a shadow, and he was death.

"Behind you," he said to Silas.

Silas ducked, and Cain took down the corrupted wolf that had been about to strike.

They moved like they had fought together their whole lives.

I saw Alpha Stone and Alpha Thornwood. They were fighting side by side, with the old grievances were forgotten.

I saw the other Alphas too. Alpha Frost of the Moonshadow Pack and Alpha Ridge of the Silver Ridge Pack. They were leading their wolves into the fray, with their voices rising above the chaos.

Blood sprayed, fur flew, and wolves fell. Some of them were mine, but more of them were Malachai’s.

I did not know how long we fought. Whether it was minutes, or hours. But it felt like both.

Every time a wolf fell, I felt it in my chest. Every time a howl of pain rose, I felt it in my bones. But I did not stop.

The corrupted wolves did not slow, and they did not flinch. They just kept coming, wave after wave, with their black eyes empty and their jaws snapping.

The allied army began to falter. I saw wolves falling back, and I saw fear in their eyes again.

“Why are they falling back?” I whispered to myself.

Then I saw some larger corrupt wolves at the far end.

“I see, Malachai.” I said. “Since you want to play, let’s play.”

I knew I had to do something else: I had to use my power.

So I stopped fighting. I closed my eyes, and I reached for my magic.

I had to find it. I had to. If I did not, we would lose.

I reached deeper, calling onto Lyra. I reached for the part of me that was Silvertongue, and all my growing powers.

“Lyra, I need all our powers for this.” I muttered.

Lyra stirred. “It is here for you.” She replied.

I reached deep and called my powers forth. It was weak, because the Ashen Lands were draining me. But I found it like a thread, and like a spark to a flammable material.

I whispered to myself. "You are a Silvertongue, and you are the last of your bloodline. You can do this."

I opened my eyes, and I opened my mouth to scream the command.

"ALL WOLVES CONNECTED TO MALACHAI STOP!"

My voice carried across the battlefield, but it was not just sound. It was power, and it was a command.

Half of Malachai’s army froze.

They stopped mid-step, they stopped mid-swing, and they stopped mid-snarl. They were now standing like statues, and like they were stone.

The frozen wolves did not move. They did not blink, and they did not breathe.

For a moment, the battlefield was silent. Then the allied army roared.

The other half kept coming, but the tide had turned.

My legs gave out, and I felt myself falling, and hitting the ground hard. My vision blurred, and my ears rang, and I could not move.

Kaelen was there. He covered me with his body, and he held me up.

The allied army saw what I had done. They saw the frozen wolves, and they saw the opening.

They roared, and the sound was like thunder. Their energy surged, and they charged forward with new strength.

A Stoneclaw warrior ran past me, and he shouted. "Thank you, Luna!"

A Silver Ridge wolf ran past me, and she shouted. "For the Silvertongue!"

A Moonshadow warrior ran past me, and he shouted. "We fight for you, Luna!"

The allied army pushed forward. They fought harder, and they fought faster.

Jax cut down three corrupted wolves in a row, and he was still laughing.

Silas and Cain fought back to back, and they were a wall.

Alpha Stone, Alpha Thornwood, Alpha Frost, and Alpha Ridge led their packs into the gap. And they were all unstoppable.

The corrupted wolves began to fall back to guide Malachai. But they were still losing at great speed.

The tide had turned. The battle was not over, but the tide had turned.

With that, I let my head fall back against Kaelen’s chest.

Kaelen carried me to a small ridge, and he set me down.

"Rest," he said.

I shook my head. "I cannot."

"You have done enough," he said.

"It is not enough," I replied.

Kaelen cupped my face, and he looked at me. "You just froze half an army. That is more than enough."

I looked at him, and I knew that arguing was pointless. "I love you."

He smiled. "I love you too." He stood. "Stay here. I will be back."

I nodded, and I watched him go. I watched the battle from the ridge.

I saw Kaelen fighting. He was a force of nature, and the corrupted wolves fell before him like wheat before a cutter.

I saw Jax, and he was still laughing. I saw Silas and Cain, and they were still a wall of fury and death.

I saw Alpha Stone, Alpha Thornwood, Alpha Frost, and Alpha Ridge. They were still fighting side by side.

I saw the corrupted wolves. They were still coming, but their steps were slower. Their movements were sluggish, and they were not the relentless force they had been before.

I saw the frozen wolves. They were still frozen, and they had not moved.

I looked at the frozen wolves, still as stone. I looked at the allied army, pushing forward, and I looked at Kaelen, who was fighting like a man possessed.

"We will win," I whispered to myself. "We will win."

The battle was not over, but the tide had turned in our favor.
