Chapter 329: Chapter 329 The Welcome

Talia’s POV

We walked into the valley together.

Grandfather Aldric walked on one side of my mother, and I walked on the other. Kaelen was behind us, and I could feel his presence like a warm hand on my back. The path was familiar, and I had walked it so many times before, but this time it felt different.

This time, I was bringing my mother home.

I looked at her, and I saw the tears streaming down her face. She was looking at the pack house, at the gardens, and at the wolves who were gathering to greet us. Her eyes were wide, and I could see the wonder and the fear mixing together in her gaze.

"Mother," I said. "Are you okay?"

She nodded, and I saw the smile on her face. "I am more than okay, Talia. I am home."

I squeezed her hand, and I felt the warmth spreading through my chest. "Yes, Mother. You are home."

The pack was waiting for us in the courtyard.

They had gathered in a large crowd, and I could see the faces of the wolves I had come to know and love. They were old and young, strong and weak, but they were all looking at us with hope in their eyes. I saw the children peeking through the legs of their parents, and I saw the elders leaning on their canes.

I heard whispers spreading through the crowd like ripples in a pond. "Is that her?" "Is that Seraphina?" "She is alive." "She is really alive."

My mother stopped walking, and I felt her hand tighten around mine. Her breathing was shallow, and I could see the panic flickering in her tired eyes.

"Talia," she said, and her voice was barely a whisper. "I do not know if I can do this."

I squeezed her hand, and I turned to face her. "You can, Mother. They are your family now. They have been waiting for you for fifteen years." ℯℯ𝑙.

She looked at me, and I saw the fear in her tired eyes. "What if they do not accept me, Talia? What if they see me and all they see is a broken woman?"

I shook my head, and I felt the tears burning in my eyes. "They will not see a broken woman, Mother. They will see the woman who survived, they will see the woman who raised their Luna, and they will see the woman who never gave up."

She looked at me, and I saw the hope flickering in her tired eyes. "You really believe that?"

I nodded. "I know it, Mother. I know it with all my heart."

I stepped forward, and I raised my hand. The whispers stopped, and the crowd fell silent. I could feel their eyes on me, waiting for me to speak.

"Everyone," I said, and my voice carried across the courtyard. "This is my mother. This is Seraphina Ashford. She has been waiting fifteen years to come home."

The silence stretched for a moment longer. I could feel the weight of their gazes, and I could feel my mother’s hand trembling in mine.

Then someone cheered. A young wolf at the front of the crowd raised his fist and shouted, "Welcome home, Luna Seraphina!"

Then someone else cheered, and then another, and then the whole pack was cheering. Their voices rose like a wave, washing over us with love and acceptance and hope.

I heard the children chanting her name, and I saw the elders wiping tears from their eyes. The cheers echoed off the stone walls, filling the courtyard with a sound that felt like a hug.

My mother looked at me, and I saw the tears streaming down her face. "They are cheering for me, Talia?"

I nodded, and I felt the tears burning in my eyes. "Yes, Mother. They are cheering for you. They are welcoming you home."

She turned to face the crowd, and I saw her shoulders straighten. She lifted her chin, and I saw the strength returning to her. The fear was still there, but it was fading, replaced by something else that looked like hope.

The pack surged forward, and I watched them surround my mother. They were touching her, hugging her, and welcoming her home. I saw the tears on their faces, and I heard the words of welcome washing over her.

"Welcome home, Luna Seraphina. We have waited so long for you."

"You are finally here. We never stopped hoping." Another voice said.

One of the Elders stepped forward. "Elder Aldric said, your daughter never gave up on you. He told us all about you."

My mother was crying, and I could see the joy and the grief and the relief all mixing together. She was overwhelmed, and I did not know if she could handle it. Her hands were shaking, and I could see the tears streaming down her face.

I started to move toward her, but I felt Kaelen’s hand on my arm. His touch was gentle but firm, stopping me in my tracks.

"Let her have this, Talia," he said, and his voice was soft. "She needs to feel their love. She needs to know that she belongs here."

I looked at him, and I saw the understanding in his gray eyes. He was right. She needed this. She had spent fifteen years alone in a cage, and now she needed to feel the warmth of a pack surrounding her.

I watched my mother, and I saw her reaching out to the pack. She was hugging them, speaking to them, and accepting their love. I saw her holding a young wolf’s hand, and I saw her whispering something to an elder. She was connecting with them, and they were connecting with her.

I stood there, watching the crowd surround my mother, and I felt the tears streaming down my face. I had waited so long for this moment, and I had dreamed of it so many times. But now that it was here, and I did not know how to feel. I was happy, but I was also overwhelmed.

I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I turned to see Kaelen. He was looking at me, and I saw the love in his gray eyes.

"Talia," he said, and his voice was soft. "You did this. You brought her home."

I shook my head, and I felt the tears streaming down my face. "I could not have done it without you, Kaelen. I could not have done it without all of them."

He reached for my hand, and I felt his fingers wrapping around mine. His grip was warm and steady, anchoring me in the chaos.

"You are the one who never gave up, Talia. You are the one who believed when everyone else doubted." Kaelen said.

I looked at my mother, surrounded by the pack, and I felt the tears streaming down my face. She was laughing now, and I could hear the joy in her voice. She was home. She was finally home.

"Kaelen," I said, and my voice was barely a whisper. "I do not know what to do now."

He squeezed my hand, and I felt his thumb tracing circles on my skin. "You do not have to do anything, Talia. Just be here, and just be with her. That is all she needs."

I nodded, and I held on to his hand.

I held on tight.
