Chapter 208: Chapter 208 Serena’s Exile

Talia’s POV

The days after Grandfather Aldric gave me my mother’s dagger passed in a blur of preparation.

There was so much to do, and so little time. Every moment felt precious, and I did not want to waste a single second. The pack moved with a purpose I had not seen since the battle, and I felt the energy of it pulsing through the air.

Warriors trained in the courtyard from dawn until dusk, with their swords flashing in the sunlight, and their bodies moving with precision.

I could hear the clash of metal and the grunts of effort from where I stood, and I knew that these wolves were giving everything they had. They were preparing for the worst, and they were doing it without complaint.

I watched them from the window sometimes, and I felt a swell of pride knowing that these wolves were willing to follow us into danger.

They did not know the full story, and they did not ask. They trusted us, and that trust was not something I took lightly. I would do everything in my power to make sure they did not regret it.

Stephanie had taken over the supply planning with an efficiency that impressed even me. She had lists upon lists, and she checked every item twice before packing it.

I watched her work one afternoon, and I was amazed at her attention to detail. She thought of things I would never have considered, and she did it all without being asked.

She made sure we had enough food, water, medicine, and weapons to last the journey and beyond.

Kaelen was everywhere, giving orders, and checking on the Warriors. And were making sure everything was in place. He did not stop, and he did not rest.

His voice carried across the courtyard, calm and commanding. He did not raise it, but everyone listened. He had a presence that demanded respect, and I loved watching him lead.

I saw the exhaustion in his eyes sometimes, but he never let it show. He pushed through it, because he knew that our lives depended on it.

He was determined to make sure we were ready.

I trained with Cain every morning, and my body was growing stronger with each passing day.

The aches were still there, but they were familiar now. They reminded me that I was alive, that I was fighting, and that I was becoming something more than I had been.

The bruises had faded, and my muscles no longer screamed in protest. I was becoming the warrior I needed to be.

I was not the same girl who had arrived at Blackmoor Valley. I was stronger, faster, and more determined. And I was ready to face whatever came next.

Piper was always there, like a steady presence in the chaos.

Her smile was a balm to my frayed nerves, and her laugh was a reminder that there was still joy in the world. She kept me from drowning in my own thoughts.

She helped where she could, and she kept me grounded when my mind started to wander to the Ashen Lands.

She would find me staring at the horizon, with my thoughts miles away, and she would bring me back with a gentle touch, and a kind word.

One morning, I was in the courtyard with Kaelen when Cain approached us.

His face was serious, and I could see the weight of the news he was about to deliver in his eyes.

I had learned to read him over the weeks we had trained together, and I knew that this was not a casual report. This was something important.

He did not smile, or to be more precise, he never smiled. But this time, there was something different in his expression, something that looked like finality.

"Alpha, Luna," he said, bowing briefly.

Kaelen nodded. "What is it?"

Cain straightened. "The border patrol has confirmed it. Serena has been seen crossing into unclaimed territory." He paused for a bit. “The border patrol had tracked her for days, making sure she did not double back. They had watched her disappear into the wilderness, and they had confirmed that she was gone for good. She is officially exiled, and she will not return."

I felt the words settle in my chest, heavy but not painful. Serena was gone for good.

The woman who had tried to destroy me, who had been so consumed by jealousy that she had thrown away everything. Including her only home, her pack, and her future. She threw all of it away, all for a revenge that she could never have.

She had betrayed the pack, she had fed information to our enemies, and now, she was finally gone.

It was strange that I had spent so long being afraid of her.

She had been a constant presence in the back of my mind, and a reminder that danger could come from anywhere. And now, she was nothing but a memory.

I was always watching her from the corner of my eye, and waiting for her to strike. And now, she was just... gone.

Kaelen took my hand, and his fingers were warm and steady around mine.

I felt the tension in my shoulders ease, just a little. His touch brought me back to the present, and reminded me that I was not alone.

"It is over," he whispered to me.

I looked at him, and I nodded.

The words came out soft, but they were firm, and I believed them. Serena was gone, and I was free of her shadow.

"I know." I said softly.

But even as I said it, I knew that the danger was not over.

There were still enemies lurking in the shadows, and still battles to be fought. But I was not afraid, and I was ready.

Vivienne was still out there, Malachai was still waiting, and the Ashen Lands were still ahead of us.

I could feel the weight of that knowledge pressing down on me, but it did not crush me. It fueled me, and it drove me forward.

Serena was gone, but the real battle was still to come.

I looked out at the valley, and at the mountains that stood like shadows against the sky.

The peaks were dark and imposing, and they reminded me of the journey that lay ahead. But they also reminded me of why I was doing this.

Somewhere out there, my mother was waiting for me, and I would find her.

I would not stop until I held her in my arms, I would not rest until she was safe, and I would not give up, no matter how long, or what it took or how far I had to go.
