The Hidden Luna of Blackmoor Valley
Chapter 206 The Silver Dagger Pt 1
Chapter 206: Chapter 206 The Silver Dagger Pt 1
Talia’s POV
The morning light filtered through the window, soft and pale.
I blinked against the brightness, feeling the warmth of the sun on my face. It was a new day, and everything felt different after last night. Lighter, somehow, like we had finally found our way back to each other.
I lay in Kaelen’s arms, with my head resting on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. The argument from last night still lingered in the air.
I could still feel the echo of our raised voices, the tension that had crackled between us like lightning. But it had passed, and what remained was a deeper understanding of each other.
And it had faded into something softer, something that felt like peace.
We had reached an understanding, that we would face this together, no matter what.
Kaelen stirred beside me, and his arm tightened around my waist. Then he pressed his lips against the top of my head.
"Good morning," he said with a smile.
"Good morning," I replied, smiling back.
He pulled back and looked at me.
His gray eyes searched my face, looking for any sign of lingering sadness or doubt. He always did that, and always made sure I was alright before he could relax.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
I nodded. "I am better than I was yesterday."
I really meant it. The vision of my mother was still fresh in my mind, but it no longer felt like a weight pulling me down. It felt like a purpose, and a reason to keep moving forward.
Kaelen smiled, and I could see the relief in his eyes. "Good."
We lay there for a while longer, tangled in each other’s arms.
I traced idle patterns on his chest with my fingertips, and I felt the steady rhythm of his breathing beneath my hand. It was moments like these that made everything else bearable.
The fire crackled in the hearth, and the shadows danced on the walls. It was peaceful, and I wanted to hold onto the moment for as long as I could.
Then a knock came at the door.
The sound was soft at first, but it cut through the silence like a stone breaking the surface of still water. I felt the peace of the moment shatter, replaced by the anticipation of what was to come.
Kaelen sat up. "Who is it?"
A servant’s voice came through the wood. "Alpha, Luna. Alpha Aldric requests the Luna’s presence in his study."
I blinked. "Now?"
"Yes, Luna," the servant replied.
“I will be there in a bit.” I said, then I climbed out of bed and dressed quickly.
I pulled on a simple dress, with my fingers moving with practiced ease. I did not want to keep Grandfather Aldric waiting, and I did not want to give myself time to second-guess whatever he had to say.
Kaelen watched me from the bed, with his gray eyes soft, and completely locked on me like an obsessed puppy.
"Do you want me to come with you?" he asked.
I shook my head immediately in refusal.
I could see the worry in his eyes, and I knew he wanted to protect me from whatever was coming. But I had to do this on my own, and I had to prove to myself that I was strong enough.
"I will be fine. He probably just wants to check on me." I said, even though I did not quite believe my own words.
Kaelen nodded, but I could see the concern in his eyes. "I will be here when you get back."
I walked to him and kissed his forehead.
His skin was warm beneath my lips, and I lingered for just a moment longer than necessary. It was as if I needed to feel his presence, and to carry it with me through whatever lay ahead.
"I know."
I walked through the hallways to Grandfather Aldric’s quarters.
The familiar path felt different this morning, and heavier somehow. Each step echoed in the silence, and I could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on me.
The torches flickered, and the shadows danced on the walls. My footsteps echoed on the stone floors, and I felt the weight of the morning pressing down on me.
When I reached the door, and i took a breath, before I pushed it open.
My hand trembled slightly on the handle, and I steadied it before turning it completely. I did not know what he wanted to tell me this time, but I knew it would be important, if it required him to send for me urgently.
Grandfather Aldric was sitting by the fire, with his gray eyes soft, but serious. He gestured for me to sit, as I closed the door, and entered the room fully.
I walked to the chair across from him and sat down. "You wanted to see me, grandfather?"
He nodded.
His eyes held a knowing look, like he had been waiting for this moment for a long time. I wondered how long he had held onto whatever it was, while waiting for the right time to tell it all to me .
"I have something for you." He said.
