Chapter 188: Chapter 188 The truth about the contract 2

Talia’s POV

"Good morning," he said.

"Good morning," I replied.

He kissed my forehead. "Hungry?"

"Yes," I admitted.

He sat up properly on bed, and his eyes lost focus briefly. He spoke to someone through the mind link, probably Stephanie, and a few minutes later, a servant arrived with a tray of food. There were eggs, toast, fresh fruits, and a pot of tea.

We sat at the desk and ate together.

I took a bite of the toast, and I felt the warmth spread through my body. It was a simple meal, but it felt special because we were sharing it together.

The food was warm and delicious, and I ate until I was full.

"I want to train with you today," Kaelen said. "You need to stay sharp."

I nodded. "I would like that."

I was excited to train with him again. It had been a while since we had sparred, and I missed the feeling of pushing myself, and of growing stronger under his guidance.

We walked to the training ground together after breakfast.

The sun was high, and the air was warm. Warriors were already there, with some of them sparring in pairs, while some seemed to be warming up.

I watched them for a moment, admiring their skill and discipline. They had come so far since the battle, and I was proud to be part of this pack.

I turned to look at the wolves that were sparring again, as their swords were clashing and their bodies moving with precision.

When the wolves noticed us, they all bowed at the same time. Kaelen waved them in response, and they returned to their activities.

Kaelen led me to a clear space and handed me a wooden sword.

"Show me what you remember," he said.

I took the sword and faced him. I remembered the drills he had taught me, the stances, and the strikes. I moved through them, and he corrected me when I made mistakes.

"Keep your feet wider," he said. "Do not lean too far forward."

I adjusted my stance and tried again.

Jax and Silas arrived, and their faces were bright with grins.

"Mind if we join?" Jax asked.

Kaelen nodded. "Come on."

Jax and Silas sparred with Kaelen while I watched. They moved fast and hard, with their swords flashing in the sunlight. Kaelen was faster. He blocked their strikes and countered with precision.

I watched him, and I felt a swell of pride. He was magnificent.

When they finished, Kaelen turned to me. "Your turn."

I stepped forward, and Jax handed me a sword.

The weight of the sword felt familiar in my hand, like an old friend I had not seen in a while. I took a breath and steadied myself.

I faced Kaelen, and I felt the thrill of the challenge.

He attacked, and I blocked. He struck again, and I dodged. He was not holding back, but neither was I.

We sparred for a long time, and I felt my body growing stronger with each movement, and I was so proud of that feeling. Because, I was not the scared girl from Cresswood anymore.

I had come so far since those days, and I was proud of the woman I had become. I had faced my fears and overcome them. And at the same time, I had found my strength and my voice.

I was a warrior.

When we finally stopped, I was breathing hard, but I was smiling.

"You are improving," Kaelen said.

I nodded. "I have a good teacher."

We returned to the room together, tired and sweaty.

I could feel the ache in my muscles, but it was a satisfying ache, and it was the kind that came from a good workout. I was getting stronger, and that felt good.

We showered together, and the warm water washed away the day. We did not speak, because we did not need to, we just enjoyed the moment.

After we had dressed, we lay on the bed and rested.

I closed my eyes and let out a contented sigh.

This was what I had always wanted. I had always wanted peace, love, and someone to share it with, and I had it now in large amounts.

Kaelen’s arm was around my waist, and my head was on his chest. The fire crackled in the hearth, and the shadows danced on the walls.

"Let us take a walk," I said. "In the courtyard."

He smiled. "I would like that."

We stepped out of our room, and we walked down the hallway side by side.

Soon, we stepped out of the pack house, and a cool breeze hit us instantly. We walked through the courtyard together, hand in hand.

The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. The flowers were blooming in neat rows along the stone paths, and the fountain bubbled in the center.

I felt at peace, and I felt happy.

It was a feeling I had never experienced before, and I wanted to hold onto it forever, because this was what it felt like to belong.

I felt like everything was finally falling into place.

Then a servant approached us, with her face pale and her eyes wide.
