Chapter 179: Chapter 179 The Healing Begins 1

Talia’s POV

Weeks passed after the battle, and the stronghold slowly returned to life.

The rubble that had once covered the courtyard was gone.

I could still remember the chaos of that day, the screams, and the fire, and the blood. But now, standing in the courtyard, I could barely see the scars. The pack had worked hard to rebuild, and their efforts had paid off.

The walls that had been damaged were repaired, the fires that had burned were extinguished, and the smoke had cleared completely from the sky.

The pack was healing.

I could see it in the faces of the wolves I passed. The fear that had once filled their eyes was gone, and now replaced by hope.

They had survived, and they were moving forward.

I woke each morning in Kaelen’s arms, and I felt the warmth of his body against mine. His wounds were completely healed now, and the scars that had marked his chest and shoulders had disappeared entirely.

It was like the battle had never touched him.

I ran my fingers over his chest, tracing the places where the scars had once been. There was nothing there now, just smooth skin and the warmth of his body.

They say it was a miracle, but I knew it was because of my blood.

His strength had also returned fully. He moved with the same power and grace he had before the battle, and I could see the fire in his eyes that had been dimmed during his recovery.

He was whole again.

I felt a surge of gratitude every time I looked at him. He had come so close to death, but he had survived. And now, he was stronger than ever.

We spent our days together, walking through the pack house, checking on the wounded, and helping with the rebuilding. The pack members greeted me with warmth and respect. Some bowed when I passed, some smiled and called me Luna, and others thanked me for my bravery during the battle.

Some of them reached out to touch my hand, with their eyes filled with gratitude. Others simply nodded, with their faces showing the respect that had been earned through blood and sacrifice.

I no longer felt like an outsider, I felt like I belonged.

It was a feeling I had never experienced before. In Cresswood, I had been invisible, forgotten, and I was nothing. But here, I was seen, I was valued, and I was home.

I saw Piper and Nora in the kitchen, laughing and working together, when I went to check on them. Their faces were bright, and I could hear the joy in their voices.

I saw Jax and Silas training the young wolves in the courtyard.

The young wolves watched them with wide eyes, eager to learn. They were the future of the pack, and I could see the hope in their faces. I hoped that they would grow up strong, and they would never have to know the fear that we had faced.

When they practiced, their movements were sharp and confident.

I saw Cain overseeing the repairs, and his face was calm and steady.

And I saw Grandfather Aldric sitting in the garden, watching the pack rebuild. His wounds were healing, and his spirit was still strong. He smiled when he saw me, and I walked to him and sat beside him.

The garden was quiet, and the flowers were blooming in neat rows along the stone paths. The fountain bubbled in the center, and the water sparkled in the morning light. It was peaceful, like a reminder that life went on.

"You have done well, Luna," he said.

I smiled. "I had help, Grandfather."

He nodded. "That is what family is for my dear."

I felt my heart swell at his words, because I was truly not alone anymore. I had a pack, and I had a family.

I had never had a family before, not really. My mother had been taken from me, and my father had never been there. But now, I had Grandfather Aldric, Kaelen, Piper, Nora, and the entire pack.

I was no longer alone.

I walked back to the room and found Kaelen waiting for me.

The door closed behind me, and I saw him standing there, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. He looked like something out of a dream, standing strong, and beautiful, and all mine.

He was standing by the window, with the late afternoon sun casting a golden glow across his face. He turned when I entered, and his gray eyes found mine.

"Where have you been?" he asked.

"Talking to Aldric," I said. "He is doing well."

Kaelen smiled. "He is strong. Actually, he has always has been."

He walked toward me, and I felt the heat of his gaze on my skin. His eyes moved across my face, slow and deliberate, like he was memorizing every line.

I could feel the weight of his gaze, and I knew that he was looking at me with burning needs. I knew that look, because it was only him that could look at me in a way that said I was exposed, even when I was not.

"The pack is healing," he said slowly. "And so are we."

I nodded. "Yes."

He reached out and cupped my face.
