Chapter 150: Chapter 150 Serena’s betrayal 1

Serena’s POV

I woke up before dawn broke, so I could meet up with the rogue wolf that Vivienne said she would send today, according to her last letter.

I had written my response to her in a letter, and I had to deliver it before the whole pack woke up.

I managed to get to the part of the border that was a bit far away from Blackmoor Valley, and I reached the rogue messenger without being caught. My heart pounded as I ran, and I finally reached the meeting spot.

The rogue wolf smelled so bad that I could barely breathe. I quickly gave him the letter and headed back to the pack before he could ask any questions.

I ran back as well, only slowing down when I got closer to the pack house.

Later that same day, after I successfully sent out my letter to Vivienne, I met Jax in the courtyard, and Jax told me about the border issue, and that they were going to hold a meeting about it.

His face was serious, which was rare for Jax.

He is usually smiling, making jokes, and laughing at his own stupid comments. But today, he was not smiling. He told me that scouts had found many tracks near the border, and he said the pack might be under attack soon.

I pretended to be shocked, and I put my hand over my mouth and widened my eyes. "Attack?" I asked. "Who would attack us?"

Jax shook his head. "We do not know yet, but the Alpha is calling a meeting."

Inside, I was smiling. I knew exactly who was attacking, and I had helped them.

I saw Kaelen step out, and talk to Beta Cain, and a few warriors, and elders for a few minutes, before they walked off. Which meant that the meeting would start soon.

I watched them walk away. Kaelen’s back was straight, and his shoulders were broad. He looked like a true, strong, powerful, and commanding Alpha.

He should have been mine.

If Talia had never come to Blackmoor Valley, I would be the one standing beside him. I would be the Luna, the pack would bow to me, and the wolves would call me their leader.

But Talia took everything from me. And now, she would pay.

After Kaelen had left for his meeting with the warriors and elders, I watched Talia from across the courtyard. She was standing by the window, and staring out at the valley. She looked calm, and her face looked like she was ready for war. Looking at her pretty face made me sick to my stomach.

She stood there like she owned the valley, like she had always been here, and like she belonged.

But she did not belong. She was an outsider, a fraud, and a girl from a weak pack who had tricked everyone into believing she was something special.

I wanted to walk up to her and slap that pretty face. I wanted to scream at her, and tell her that I knew her secrets, and that I knew she was hiding something. But I could not do that yet.

I went back to my room and waited until the sun set, and night fell over Blackmoor Valley and the pack house grew quiet. Then I slipped out of my room.

The pack house was quiet at this hour.

Everyone was asleep now because it was midnight. The hallways were empty, and the torches burned low, casting long shadows across the stone floors. I moved through the darkness with silent footsteps, because I had done this before. I knew exactly which boards creaked and which corners to avoid.

I slipped out the back door, and walked to the edge of the forest.

The night air was cold and sharp, and it bit at my cheeks and stung my eyes. The grass was wet with dew, and my boots sank into the soft earth with every step, as the forest loomed ahead of me, dark and silent.

For a moment, I hesitated. My heart pounded, and my hands shook. What if someone saw me? What if a patrol found me? What if I was caught?

But then I thought of Talia, of her pretty, perfect face. And I kept walking.

I carefully jumped across the border, while trying as much as possible to dodge the patrol team. I did not shift, because I would definitely have been sniffed out easily.

Even in my human form, I was already taking a risk. But I was undetectable, all thanks to the scent cover portion that Vivienne sent to me weeks ago.

The potion was thick and oily. It smelled like dirt and rotten leaves, and it made my skin feel cold. But it worked. My scent was completely gone, covered, and erased.

No wolf could track me, and no wolf could smell me, no matter how close they were. I felt like I was a ghost in the darkness.

I smiled at the thought. Talia thought she was safe, and she thought she had won. But she had no idea what was coming for her.

I looked around at the trees that stood like sentinels, dark and tall against the night sky. The wind blew through their branches, and they whispered to each other. I could not hear their words, but I felt their judgment.

They knew what I was doing, and they knew I was betraying my pack. But I did not care, because trees did not matter, and they could not stop me. Right now, no one could.

The moon was hidden behind clouds, and the world was black and gray. I stopped at the edge of the trees and waited for a while.

Soon, two figures emerged from the shadows.
