Chapter 142: Chapter 142 Her Control 2

Talia’s POV

Kaelen shifted back beside me. His dark fur disappeared, and his human body returned. He stood before me, bare and strong, with his gray eyes soft.

He pulled me into his arms. His skin was warm against mine, and I felt his heart beating fast.

"You are ready," he said. "For the trial, and for anything."

I looked up at him. His face was close to mine, and I could see the desire in his eyes.

Then he kissed me.

His lips were warm and soft, and I kissed him back. His hands moved down my back, pulling me closer. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and the world disappeared.

We fell to the soft grass together. The sun was warm on our skin, and the forest was quiet around us. There was no pack, no trial, and no fear. Just him and me.

He touched me like I was something precious. His hands moved slowly, learning my body, and memorizing every curve. I touched him too, feeling the strength in his shoulders, and the warmth of his skin.

His lips left mine and trailed down my jaw, slow and soft. I gasped when his mouth found my neck, and my fingers curled into his hair.

"Kaelen," I whispered.

He pulled back just enough to look at me. His gray eyes were dark, but soft. "I want to feel all of you," he said.

I nodded, because I could not speak.

He kissed my collarbone, then went lower. His lips moved down my chest, and his hands followed, tracing the curves of my body. I gripped the grass beneath me and let myself feel.

His mouth found my breast, and I cried out. The sound echoed through the quiet forest, but I did not care. There was no one here to hear us anyway, just the trees and the sky and him.

He took his time. His tongue and his lips and his hands explored every part of me, and I squirmed beneath him, with my body shaking with need.

"Please," I whispered.

He looked up at me. "Please what?"

I could not answer, because I did not have the words.

He smiled, just a little, and lowered his head again.

When his mouth found my entrance between my legs, I thought I would die from the pleasure. My back arched off the grass, and my fingers tugged at his hair. He held me steady, with his hands firm on my hips, and he did not stop until I was crying out his name.

Only then did he rise above me and join our bodies together.

When we came together, it was slow and gentle. His forehead pressed against mine, and his gray eyes stayed open, watching me.

"I love you," he whispered.

My heart swelled. "I love you too."

We moved together, slow and steady, like the tide pulling the sea. The grass was soft beneath my back, and the sun was warm on my face. I felt whole, I felt safe, and I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

The sun shone down on us, and the grass was soft beneath my back. I looked up at the sky through the trees and watched the clouds drift by. Everything felt right, and everything felt perfect. For this one moment, there was no pain, no fear, and no hiding. Just pure love and joy.

When it was over, we lay tangled together, breathing hard. His hand rested on my stomach, and my head was on his chest.

Neither of us spoke, because neither of us needed to.

The forest was quiet around us. The birds sang, and the wind blew soft through the trees.

After a long time, Kaelen kissed my forehead.

"We should go back," he said.

I nodded, but I did not want to move. I wanted to stay here forever, in this clearing, and in his arms.

But the trial was one day away, and we could not hide forever.

We dressed in silence. My body was tired, but my heart was full.

I looked at Kaelen as he pulled his shirt over his head. His dark hair was messy, and his cheeks were flushed. He caught me looking and he smiled. It was a real, soft and warm smile, and it made my chest ache with happiness.

I picked up my necklace from the log and fastened it around my neck. The charm settled against my skin, warm and familiar, and my true face disappeared, and the plain, forgettable girl returned.

Kaelen watched me, and his jaw tightened. He definitely did not like seeing me hide. But he took my hand, and we walked back to the pack house together.

The sun was setting, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. The forest was quiet, and our footsteps were soft on the path.

When we reached the room, I sat on the edge of the bed and looked at Kaelen.

"One day, I will not need to hide," I said.

He sat beside me and took my hand. "One day," he said. "And then you will never have to hide again."

I leaned my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes.

Tomorrow, everything would change. I did not know what the trial would bring, and I did not know if I would pass or fail. But I knew for sure that Kaelen would be beside me. And for now, that was enough.

Because tonight, in this moment, I was not alone.
