The heroes want to kill me
Chapter 27: Puppet drug
"You are right again darling, and that’s true, but you see you came into our hands by coincidence, and according to my mother teaching, she said do not refuse a gift from god. I believe you are a gift from god, the god saw our plight and decided to throw a gift our way, a gift that won’t bring any issues to us.
"I don’t understand what you are playing at ’Mr’, maybe you don’t realize that I am still a student from your high seat, I don’t know nothing about nothing. "she said.
"That’s precisely what makes you perfect, my dear," Hyperion said, his voice losing its charm and taking on a chilling edge. "You’re a blank slate, I don’t know if you are still pure, but that doesn’t matter, our clients like young girls, and you fit that position perfectly, And a blank slate can be written upon."
He stood up and walked toward a panel on the wall. With a press of a button, the walls dissolved, transforming into a massive display screen. He tapped a few commands, and grainy footage of people in dark alleys, men and women being dragged away, their faces contorted in fear, began to play.
"Miss Ariadne as you can see on the screen, this is what happened to people who said ’no’ to us, people who keeps on showing attitude at our simple request" Valora said, her voice dripping with casual malice. "People who knew too much. and if that doesn’t affect you, your family could also be added to the equation, with a snap of a button I can activate my bodyguard to deal with your accomplice outside. "so miss Ariadne I would advice you to resist your feisty nature, if you want things to keep on going right for you.
Ariadne stared, her mind reeling. These were her heroes. The people she and Harry had admired, had defended to their friends and family, the people that protect the ordinary people, why are they like this, if the heroes are like this have they been judging the villain wrongly. she thought in her mind.
"Your friend out there," Tempest interjected, his voice a venomous whisper in her ear. "Harry was it? he seems very protective. It would be a shame if something happened to him. A tragic accident. A mugging gone wrong in the wrong part of town."
Ariadne heard this and said. "pls do it, just try it and watch how everything will come down on you. "he has nothing to do with any of this, so leave him out of this.
"Exactly!" Hyperion boomed, clapping his hands together. "he has nothing to do with this. And he has everything to do with this, but I hate your attitude, if not that we need you, you would already be dead, and he’s your leverage, oh sweet Harry , so beautiful Yet fragile, expendable little friend who is, at this very moment, waiting for you in the hallway, completely unprotected."
in Ariadne mind she was wondering why she allowed harry to follow her, if she has just been more adamant, maybe he may have gone home, instead of him coming here, now all this b****es are using him to threaten me.
Centurion finally moved, his bulk blocking the only exit. Zephyr stood up, producing a small, metallic case from her jacket. She opened it, revealing a series of syringes filled with shimmering, opalescent liquid.
"what’s that, what are you planning to do to me, I already agreed to help you, so what else do you want now. "Ariadne said while moving back slowly towards the door area.
"A little something we developed," Zephyr purred, picking up one of the syringes. "It won’t kill you. It will just make you a little more... agreeable. It erodes the will, makes you compliant. And it has the delightful side effect of leaving you unable to speak about what happened here, you will have memory of this conversion so you will remember this day as the day you lost your will. And you’ll just wake up tomorrow with a slight headache and a burning desire to follow our every command."
"hell no, I am allowing that nasty thing inside my body, I am nobody’s puppet, I will rather die than letting you take away my freewill. "Ariadne said while trying to use a pocket knife she have on her body to slit her throat or her wrist. her thought is just thinking of the quickest part to a quick death.
But before she could do anything she was stopped by Zephyr.
"you dieing is not part of the plan, so you can’t kill yourself, but be rest assured when we are done with you I would gladly kill you, be rest assured that it won’t be painful, it would be a painless death, a death that you won’t even realize that you are already dead. so till that day come please be our puppet. "Zephyr said then tried to insert the syringe content in Ariadne body, but she was stopped.
Valora walked over, her heels clicking like a countdown. She snatched the syringe from Zephyr. "Let me. I’ve been dying to see how this works." She grabbed Ariadne’s chin, forcing her head back. Ariadne struggled, but Valora’s grip was like iron.
"This is for the best, you know," Valora said, her voice a mockery of comfort. "You’ll be a part of something bigger. You’ll be serving the greater good, just not in the way they show on the news."
Ariadne almost went mad from that word that came out from her mouth, part of something bigger, who said she wants to be part of it, if it’s truly great why don’t she sacrifice her own self, she can loose her own will and leave her out of it, after all it’s for something bigger according to her word. while this thought was going on in Ariadne head Ariadne’s eyes darted around the room, searching for a savior. There was none. These weren’t heroes; they were predators in capes, monsters who hid their claws behind medals and public adoration. She saw the contempt in Tempest’s eyes, the boredom in Centurion’s, the amusement in Hyperion’s, and the sheer, unadulterated cruelty in Zephyr’s.
Valora pressed the needle against the delicate skin of Ariadne’s neck. "Just a little pinch," she cooed. "And all your worries will be over."
The liquid burned as it entered her veins, a cold fire that spread through her body. It wasn’t instant. It was a creeping horror. Her thoughts, once sharp and panicked, began to fray at the edges, tears began to fall from her eyes that she would soon become a puppet in her own body, she would see everything, witness the act she would commit, yet be unable to control her own body. The image of Harris, waiting faithfully in the hallway, his love remaining unrequited forever, she was planning to finally advance her relationship with him, but now she can’t, everything then started to blur. Her own name, her own identity, began to feel distant, like a story she’d once heard.
Hyperion walked over, his handsome face now monstrous in the dim light. He crouched down in front of her, his eyes boring into hers as the drug took hold. "Who do you serve, Ariadne?"
Her mouth moved on its own, the words a hollow whisper against the screaming in her soul. "I serve... you."
"Who is the enemy?"
Her mind screamed you! You are the enemy! But her lips betrayed her. "Those who oppose you," she said, her voice flat and unrecognizable. tears kept falling for her face uncontrollably.
Valora patted her wet cheek, a gesture of pure condescension. "There’s a good girl. See? That wasn’t so hard, was it? and beautiful girls don’t cry. "she brought out an handkerchief from god know where and use it to wipe the tears mark on her face.
The world was becoming a tunnel, the edges of the room fading to black. The last thing she saw before her consciousness was subsumed was Hyperion’s smile. He was looking at her not as a person, but as a new tool, a shiny new weapon in their arsenal of corruption.
Back in the hallway, Harry was pacing, his phone clutched in her hand. his heart was already aching, like something bad have happened, the annoying thing is that he don’t know what it’s. He was about to text Mira for the dozenth time when the vault door hissed open. Mira walked out, her gait perfectly smooth, her face a serene, beautiful mask.
Harry rushed to her. "Ariadne! Finally! Are you okay? What happened in there? You were gone for almost two hours!"
Ariadne blinked, her eyes focusing on Harry with a warmth that was just a little too practiced. "Harry," she said, her voice soft and melodic. "I’m perfect. It was wonderful. But In her mind the word was, "I am not fine harry, please save me, I don’t want to be a puppet to my own body, Harry please notice, look at me closely.
But that was in her mind, her mouth have already opened to say another sentence she don’t want to. "Let’s go get that gelato."
