The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

A flicker of sadness crossed Lynn White’s eyes, but she quickly let it go with a smile and said with conviction,
"Of course it was worth it! If it weren’t for my uncle, my ashes would probably be scattered somewhere unknown by now. He never even started his own family because he was raising me. After my grandparents passed away, my uncle was the only family I had left, so I’d do anything for him.
"Luckily, that man, Clark, has no family, so I didn’t have to follow in my birth mother’s footsteps and become a morally corrupt homewrecker that everyone despises. The unfortunate one is his first wife, who thought she was marrying for love but actually married a beast in human skin."
Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow. "But we’ve only just met. Why are you telling me all this? It can’t be as simple as just telling me a story, can it?"
"Didn’t you see through my disguise the first time we met?" Lynn White smiled nonchalantly, as if this bright and poised version was her true self.
"I’m not saying all this to get your sympathy. After all, I’m not a fool like Kevin Clark. I’m well aware of the power you all have. It probably wouldn’t even take a day for you to crush him.
"I’ve already obtained most of the evidence of his crimes. It’s probably too late to gather everything, so I’ll leave the rest to the men in blue.
"But do you think you could give me a few more days? Let me go back to Keldor, compile everything, and submit the evidence, and then you can...?"
Lynn White looked at her with a pleading, hopeful gaze.
Yvonne Lowell rubbed her fingers together and uttered a single word in a faint voice, "No."
The light in Lynn White’s eyes gradually dimmed, but she understood it wasn’t Yvonne Lowell’s fault. She could only blame herself for being too slow.
Besides, even if the company was destroyed, it wouldn’t affect her subsequent revenge. It just meant her wish to see Clark fall from heaven straight into Hell would be unfulfilled.
She had studied business herself, so she naturally understood the reasons behind Yvonne Lowell’s refusal.
She had no standing, much less the right or qualification, to ask someone she had only met once to change their decision just for her. That wasn’t how her uncle had raised her.
The smile on Lynn White’s face didn’t change, but it was tinged with bitterness. "I understand. I’m truly sorry for bothering you today."
Yvonne Lowell sighed inwardly and pressed her throbbing temples. "There are signs for the principal’s office along the path."
Lynn White froze for a moment, staring at her blankly. "What...?"
"If I’m not mistaken, you’re carrying a copy of the evidence with you?"
Yvonne Lowell glanced casually at her handbag, her eyes landing on a fluffy keychain that seemed out of place.
"Yes, I’ve saved many backups. One of them is on this flash drive. I always keep it with me."
Seeing that Yvonne had noticed, Lynn White didn’t bother hiding it. Instead, she openly showed her the hidden flash drive keychain.
It was originally a keychain Kevin Clark had given her. She had bought a flash drive in the same style to swap it with and had kept it hanging on her bag ever since.
Her story for Kevin Clark was that since it was the first gift he’d ever given her, she had to keep it close, which had him completely fooled.
Seeing the lingering innocence in her eyes, Yvonne Lowell decided to just spell it out for her.
"Elder Hawthorne isn’t just the principal of Kingsland University; he was also your uncle’s teacher back in the day. His son is the chief of the Kingsland Central Bureau, and his son-in-law is the deputy director of the Department of Education. Do I need to be any clearer?"
"You... you mean I should take the evidence directly to Principal Hawthorne?! But would he even agree to see me?"
What Lynn White left unsaid was: ’Would Principal Hawthorne even believe the evidence I have?’
After all, one was a student he had personally taught, while the other was, in the eyes of outsiders, a ’young wife’ who had just graduated and slept her way to the top.
Yvonne Lowell found it a little funny. "You didn’t hesitate this much when you threw yourself into this whole scheme for revenge, did you? And why would you think a good-for-nothing fool who took years to graduate and has achieved nothing since would be worth Elder Hawthorne’s consideration? Besides, after you submit your evidence, don’t you think the relevant authorities will have to investigate it anyway?"
The barrage of three questions left Lynn White completely stunned. Yvonne Lowell shook her head to herself. ’Still too young, with the heart of a little girl.’
Lynn White: ’...Thanks for asking, but I’m older than you. Several years older!’
"Anyway, I’ve given you the heads-up. Clark’s company will declare bankruptcy as early as this time tomorrow. It’s up to you now. You have one day to transfer funds, submit the evidence, and watch him fall from heaven to Hell with your own eyes."
With that, Yvonne Lowell turned and left without a second glance.
Kevin Clark, still watching the performance: ’...Hey, did anyone ask for my opinion?!’
Lynn White opened her mouth, but found she couldn’t make a sound.
She could only stand there in a daze, watching as Yvonne Lowell threw herself into Leo Grant’s arms before they left, wrapped in an embrace.
Her expression shifted from envy to sadness, and finally to gratitude and determination.
Facing the direction Yvonne Lowell had gone, she silently mouthed the words "thank you," then clutched the flash drive keychain and hurried toward the principal’s office.
After the two got in the car, Ian Lynch discreetly raised the partition, focusing solely on his G-rated driving.
In the back seat, Yvonne Lowell briefly summarized what Lynn White had told her, a bit puzzled.
"The college entrance exams had been reinstated for years by then. Was the system still that lax? How could something like identity theft still happen?"
"It’s not surprising. It takes all sorts to make a world. Besides, the system wasn’t as well-developed back then. It’s not like now, where you can just check everything online."
Leo Grant handed her his phone. "I figured you’d be curious, so I had William Lynch look into that couple. The file’s in my chat with him. Just the edited version with the key points."
Yvonne Lowell reached for the phone but couldn’t pull it away.
She looked up and saw a certain someone sitting there with a composed look, but his face clearly said: *Please scan QR code to access file.*
’Tsk, men are so dramatic.’
Yvonne Lowell leaned in and gave him a kiss. "How is my boyfriend so thoughtful? The one who knows me best is my Gigi."
Leo Grant said nothing, simply turning his other cheek to her.
"Alright, that’s enough. Don’t push your luck."
Yvonne Lowell snatched the phone away, found a comfortable position, and unlocked it to read the file.
’Can’t spoil him for a single day. Give him an inch, and he’ll take a mile.’
Leo Grant looked at the marshmallow puff in his arms. *Fine...*
’Don’t get mad, don’t get mad, can’t get mad. I chose her, I picked her, I pursued her.’
’Can’t hit her, can’t beat her, can’t win against her. Calm down, stay cool, don’t be rash.’
Yvonne Lowell was completely oblivious to his inner turmoil. After reading the file, she found that Lynn White’s account was accurate down to the last detail, and the extra information was likely the part Lynn had said she couldn’t find.
As she mulled it over, a plan began to form in Yvonne Lowell’s mind.
