The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 255 - 254: Kingsland University Anniversary
「The day of the Kingsland University anniversary arrived.」
With over a century of history and selfless dedication, Kingsland University had cultivated countless talents for Aurelia, spanning every industry imaginable.
A sea of luxury cars had already gathered at the university gates. Many figures one would normally only see in the news or weekly magazines were appearing at the entrance.
These tycoons, accustomed to being chauffeured and greeted wherever they went, could now only enter the campus on foot or by shuttle.
And yet, not a single person complained, at least not openly.
After all, without Kingsland University, they might not be where they were today.
Simply possessing a diploma from Kingsland University was enough to smooth over many bumps on their career paths.
Not to mention, many influential figures from various industries would be present today. In that sense, wasn’t this also a playground for adults to expand their network and influence?
Yvonne Lowell and Leo Grant came directly from Tidalview, separate from their parents.
Yvonne wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but she felt that the person checking invitations—was he a student? A teacher? A professor?
Ahem, she felt that the person checking invitations was looking at her a little strangely, with a sort of inexplicable fervor in his eyes.
Yvonne suppressed the unsettling feeling that made her skin crawl and handed him the invitation.
The man gave it a cursory glance before handing it back, saying politely, "Professor Lowell, welcome to the Kingsland University anniversary celebration!"
"Ahem, thank you."
’Ugh, now I feel even creepier...’
"You’re most welcome! Please, come in!" The man gestured with his hand.
Yvonne couldn’t help the twitch at the corner of her mouth. She gave him a slight nod and then dragged Leo Grant away.
She had a feeling that if she said one more thing, he would just keep the conversation going. It was like they were stuck in a conversational loop.
’What’s the deal? Does Kingsland University have its own gold-star customer service? Is the rule that you can’t let the guest have the last word?’
’In that case, should I give him a five-star, "very satisfied" rating later?’
She thought that would be the end of it, but they had only walked a short distance onto campus when the same man zipped past them on a hoverboard.
He seemed to be on the phone, saying loudly:
"Principal, rest assured! Professor Lowell really came! I received her personally, so you don’t have to go drag her out of her house! Right, right, I have to go. I’m in a hurry to watch our department’s student rehearsal. Hanging up now!"
Hearing this, Yvonne stumbled. Thankfully, Leo Grant caught her in time.
Otherwise... otherwise she wouldn’t have fallen anyway, so this guy really got lucky.
Leo Grant: ’...So, thank you? For being so kind as to let me take advantage of you?’
Yvonne’s expression was complicated.
"Is my word really that untrustworthy?! I already promised I would come, and he still sent someone to the gate just to catch me?! Was that really necessary?!"
And he sent a teacher whose students were in rehearsal. Was there something special about that teacher? That Boss Skinner!!!
Ah, no, Hawthorne the Skinner!!!
The teacher: ’Never mind that. Just admit it, I made a deep impression on you, didn’t I?’
"Ahem, maybe Elder Hawthorne was just worried you wouldn’t know the way?"
Leo Grant hadn’t expected the old principal, whom he remembered as the most respected and virtuous of men, to be so childish. He was just like his grandfather.
Yvonne turned her head, her gaze dark as she stared at him. "Excuse me, did that teacher just now give me directions? Did that look like he was worried I wouldn’t know the way?"
’Or was he really worried I would bail, giving Principal Hawthorne enough time to come and hunt me down?’
But she’d already shown her face and gotten a feel for the atmosphere. Was it too late to run back home?
"Sweetheart, wasn’t that teacher busy? Besides, I know the way. I can lead you!" Seemingly reading her mind, Leo Grant pulled her closer into his arms.
"Look, we got our makeup and hair done today. Shouldn’t we go and dazzle everyone? Besides, both Uncle Lowell and I have to give speeches today. There’s an old saying in Aurelia: ’Since we’re already here...’ You know what I mean, right?"
Yvonne couldn’t stop her mouth from twitching. "Alright, I haven’t even said anything yet. I say one thing and you rattle on with ten sentences. Is that really necessary?"
"Then let’s hurry. Uncle Lowell, Aunt Sutton, and my parents are already at the auditorium."
Leo Grant gave a sheepish smile and quickly wrapped his arm around her, heading toward the main auditorium.
His large hand held her tightly, as if she would turn into a butterfly and fly away if he loosened his grip even slightly.
Yvonne: ’If I turn into a butterfly, will I have GPS? Can I automatically fly back to Tidalview? Do I run on gas or electricity?’
Inside the grand auditorium of Kingsland University, many people were already mingling.
Almost everyone was holding a bottle of school-provided mineral water, yet they managed to make it look as if they were swirling champagne or red wine.
When Yvonne Lowell and Leo Grant entered, the ridiculously good-looking couple immediately drew a great deal of attention.
One was the head of Kingsland’s Grant Family, the other was the young lady of Kingsland’s Lowell Family.
Furthermore, this young Lowell lady held two other titles of global significance.
Whether in the business world or academia, no one dared to look down on this girl who had just turned twenty.
Yvonne: ’Let’s be bold with our assumptions. Why not round it out and add the military and political spheres to the list?’
Rumors had been circulating that the two were dating, and now they were attending the anniversary celebration together, making a public appearance.
It looked like a marriage alliance between the two families was a done deal. With such a union of powerhouses, would there be any chance left for the rest of them?
Leo Grant: ’Marriage alliance my ass! You’re the one who needs a marriage alliance! Your whole family needs a marriage alliance!’
’We fell in love at first sight, are deeply devoted, our feelings are mutual, we’re perfect for each other, our vows are eternal, our love is stronger than gold, we’re a match made in heaven, destined to grow old together, our love will last forever, and we were born to be a pair!’
’We’re not like you people, who have to weigh the pros and cons of your relationships with profit and can’t even choose love!’
’You lose out on love and still can’t make money. We, on the other hand, not only found love but were never short on cash to begin with, not to mention we can earn even more! You people are so pathetic!’
’Leave a chance for you? I’ll kick you all to hell!!!’
In contrast, the area around Charles Lowell and Mr. Grant was quite deserted. Occasionally, a few people would approach them in a group to say hello, but they wouldn’t linger long before turning to leave.
It was unclear whether they didn’t dare to stay or were dismissed with an excuse.
Seeing Charles Lowell waving at them, the two exchanged a look and walked over.
"Mom, Dad. Uncle Grant, Auntie Ford."
"Mom, Dad. Uncle Lowell, Aunt Sutton."
The two spoke in unison.
Just as Charles Lowell was about to speak, he was interrupted by a sharp and grating male voice.
"Well, well, if it isn’t our school’s biggest heartthrobs from back in the day, the campus princes Leo Grant and Charles Lowell, who made half the female students swoon. It’s been a long time."
