Chapter 859
Chapter 859: Chapter 859
Silk and I...
I had been her subject. At least, that’s what I understood from what the other goddesses had told me. She was supposedly the most powerful goddess among them, yet after Cora had apparently killed me, Silk had used nearly all of her power to rewind time and bring me back. Whatever she had done had left her vulnerable, and somehow, that had led to her being killed.
Or maybe she wasn’t actually dead.
Could a deity even die?
I had no idea, and the more I thought about it, the more questions I ended up with. There were too many things I didn’t understand about Silk, the goddesses, and what had happened before the timeline was changed.
"You listening, Evan?" Tuck asked.
"Huh?" I shook my head slightly and realized I’d been staring into space. "Yeah, yeah. I’m listening. I just saw someone I knew, sorry."
"Alright, well," Tuck continued. "So them and I are cool now, I guess."
"That’s good."
I was sitting on one of the sunbeds outside, with Tuck on the other end of the phone. Apparently, he and those twins, or whatever the hell they were, were on okay terms now. By okay, I meant they had reached the point where neither side was actively trying to kill the other, which honestly was good enough for me.
"Hey," I said after a moment. "Do you remember a woman named Silk?"
"Silk?" Tuck sounded surprised. "Yeah. The hooker with no teeth. That’s why they call her Silk."
"No, not that one." I paused. "Wait, she didn’t have teeth?"
"Yeah. They were fake."
"Man." I rubbed my forehead. "Not that Silk."
"Well, I don’t know any other Silk. Who is she?"
"A woman I used to hang out with, I think." I frowned slightly as I tried to piece the memory together. "But I can’t remember her."
"Were you drunk?"
"Something like that."
"I don’t know any girl named Silk. I bet it was fake, too. Who names their child Silk?"
"Who names their child Tucker?"
"Alright, Evan Henrik Marlowe." He laughed loudly on the other end of the phone.
I chuckled and shook my head. "Eh, whatever. I’m hanging up, but hey, at least it’s good to know you won’t have to worry about a hitman appearing at your door anymore."
"Yeah." His voice immediately became less enthusiastic. "I shouldn’t have apologized to them."
"Alright, you’re starting to talk like an idiot again. I’m hanging up. Bye."
"Yeah, yeah."
I pulled the phone away from my ear and ended the call before tossing it onto the small table beside the sunbed. I leaned back and stretched out, looking toward the dark city beyond the balcony. Neon signs illuminated the streets below, their reflections shimmering across the wet roads while the rain continued falling steadily outside.
A few seconds later, the door behind me opened.
Delilah stepped onto the balcony.
Since things between her and her daughter were still pretty bad, she had agreed to stay with Eleanor for the time being. I glanced over as she quietly crossed the balcony and walked toward the other sunbed.
She was wearing the new clothes I’d bought for her earlier that day, a simple tank top and a pair of loose pants. They weren’t anything particularly fancy, but somehow, she still managed to look incredibly beautiful in them.
Delilah lowered herself onto the sunbed and closed her eyes with a small smile.
"A sunbed in this city," she murmured. "Worst purchase ever."
"Yeah." I looked up through the glass ceiling. "One day it’s sunny, and the next day the storm hits."
"That seems to be how this place works."
"Pretty much."
For a few moments, neither of us spoke. The rain tapping against the glass ceiling filled the silence, and I found myself watching the droplets slide down the surface above us. The city beyond the balcony remained bright despite the weather, with colorful signs glowing between the buildings and headlights moving along the streets below.
I turned my head slightly and caught Delilah looking at me from the corner of my eye.
She had moved closer without me noticing. She was now down on all fours on the floor beside my sunbed, smiling at me from above. Before I could even ask what she was doing, she leaned down and kissed me.
I returned the kiss, slipping an arm around her waist and gently pulling her closer. The position was awkward enough that she eventually broke the kiss with a quiet laugh before shifting onto my lap. Once she was comfortable, she leaned toward me again, and our lips met.
When we finally pulled apart, I looked at her and smiled.
"I’m lucky to have met you, Mrs. Komb."
She smiled and kissed me again before whispering, "It goes both ways, Mr. Marlowe."
Delilah smirked against my mouth and kissed me again, deeper this time, before pulling back just enough to straighten up. She reached down, grabbed the hem of her tank top, and pulled it up and over her head in one smooth motion. She wasn’t wearing a bra. Her soft, slightly heavy tits spilled free, nipples already stiff in the open air.
I immediately reached up and cupped both of them, squeezing the warm flesh, thumbs brushing over her nipples as I kneaded them. Delilah let out a quiet breath and arched into my hands.
Still straddling my lap on the sunbed, she lifted her hips just enough to shove her loose pants down her thighs. She kicked them off the rest of the way and tossed them aside without looking. I did the same, unbuckling and shoving my own pants down until they tangled around one ankle. My cock sprang free, already hard, and settled naturally between the soft cheeks of her bare ass. The heat of her skin against me made precum bead at the tip and smear across her.
"Fuck... already this hard for me?" Delilah murmured, rolling her hips just enough to drag my cock along the cleft of her ass.
"You started it," I muttered, still groping her tits, squeezing them together and lifting them as I leaned up to kiss her again.
