The Greatest Village Doctor In The World
Chapter 2684 - 2683: Kyushu Secret Treasure
Ling Feng was almost scared off the cliff by this bizarre spectacle. Fortunately, Chao Yun’s sharp eyes and quick hands caught Ling Feng’s arm, preventing him from falling off the cliff and summoning his Spirit Pet.
At the moment, he didn’t want to show his strength. Although he had told Chao Yun everything about his world, Ling Feng was still unwilling to reveal too many of his means.
"Sir, what’s wrong with you?" Chao Yun asked, puzzled. He didn’t understand why Ling Feng was suddenly frightened.
Ling Feng, shocked, slapped his own face and then pointed at the Clay Statue, saying, "Do you guys know this Clay Statue? Its...its eyes have dual pupils, and they’re black and white?"
Chao Yun nodded and said, "Of course, I know."
"Is there such a strange person in this world with dual pupils and black and white colors?" Ling Feng thought of that black-robed man but was still reluctant to believe such a coincidence.
"I asked Master before, and Master told me that senior brother is a once-in-a-century prodigy with exceptionally high talent in cultivation, but also a ’person of no origin,’"
"What’s a person of no origin?" Ling Feng wondered, as he heard the term for the first time.
"Eyes with dual pupils, one black, one white—such physical anomalies are the characteristics of a dual-pupiled person. Because of these differences, that person is not well-liked, even as the senior brother, despite being very powerful."
Ling Feng pondered for a while: "What is the name of that senior brother, which is this Clay Statue?"
Chao Yun shook his head: "I don’t know, it’s been too long. I think no one except Master knows his name anymore."
"Is it just the two of you, master and disciple, in your temple?" Ling Feng realized that he hadn’t seen anyone else since entering the temple, only Chao Yun.
"Indeed," Chao Yun smiled bitterly, "According to Master, the temple used to be magnificent, but nowadays, fewer young people are willing to be Taoists because there’s not much benefit, unlike being a monk or a merchant."
Ling Feng found this statement quite interesting and teased: "Why did you become a Taoist then, was it to avoid shaving your head?"
Chao Yun shook his head very calmly: "I’m an orphan. Master picked me up and raised me, so I naturally had no choice. Master is a Taoist, so I became a Taoist."
"Besides, I don’t think being a Taoist is bad. Peace and freedom, happiness and leisure, and occasionally going down the mountain, the villagers treat you like a deity." Chao Yun suddenly gave a sly smile.
Ling Feng looked at Chao Yun’s pure smile, suddenly realizing that Chao Yun was just an eighteen or nineteen-year-old kid. Yet he already had such an insightful understanding. Ling Feng had previously seen those purple energies, and he couldn’t help feeling that Chao Yun seemed different from others.
"Of course, those are just jokes. What I really want to do as a Taoist is hunt down demons. I’ve heard that the Devil Clan is rampant, often relying on their mighty power to oppress and slaughter the poor people of the Human Race,"
"My ambition is to learn well, then go and eradicate demons, making the Devil Clan dare not come again to bully the Human Race, making them know that we Humans are not so easy to oppress!" Chao Yun clenched his fist.
Looking at this passionate young man, Ling Feng didn’t know why he saw himself in him. Although Ling Feng once had no great aspirations like benefiting humanity.
Ling Feng once looked forward to his future with longing and enthusiasm, just like Chao Yun. So, now when Ling Feng looked at Chao Yun, it was as if he was seeing himself back then.
Ling Feng wanted to encourage Chao Yun with a few words, but suddenly saw a beam of light shooting over the horizon.
Realizing the possible arrival of an unfriendly visitor, Ling Feng reacted quickly. He immediately summoned Little Fei and Jin Gang to stand by, while he gazed at the light and told Chao Yun:
"You should leave first; someone seems to be coming!"
Chao Yun looked at the light, just about to explain something, but Ling Feng unconditionally shielded him behind.
The light got closer and closer, and Ling Feng’s Divine Sense also sensed a powerful aura.
But when the light really came in front of Ling Feng, he was dumbfounded:
He saw an old man in a shabby Taoist robe jump down shakily from a golden shining sword and walk towards them.
Ling Feng watched as the old man did nothing; the sword automatically turned direction, sliding into the sheath behind the old man.
So, this old man was actually flying on a sword!
"Master!" Chao Yun stepped forward and said respectfully.
Ling Feng was even more surprised; this old man was actually the little Taoist’s master?! No wonder he was so calm earlier.
The old man glanced at Chao Yun, nodded casually, but his attention was captured by Little Fei and Jin Gang. But after Ling Feng realized they weren’t enemies, he quickly withdrew them both.
The old man leaned over with a sly smile and said to Ling Feng: "Young man, where did those two divine creatures come from? How about I trade some Elixirs for them? It’s a good deal!"
Ling Feng froze. How could an earnest little Taoist have such an unorthodox master?
"Master!" Chao Yun sighed and walked up to say, "You’ve been drinking again, haven’t you? I’ve told you several times not to drink, can you even recognize me?"
"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I not recognize my own disciple?" The old man snorted, burped, and a rich aroma of alcohol spread out.
Chao Yun rubbed his forehead, introducing: "This is my master, Daoist name Chao Yue. He usually likes to drink, but he’s a good person. Though he sometimes seems irresponsible, he never messes things up."
Then Chao Yun shouted at Chao Yue: "Master, this is the gentleman I met down the mountain, Ling Feng. He is a famous figure from another world, a deity." Chao Yun was afraid Master couldn’t hear.
Chao Yun then recounted Ling Feng’s demon-slaying deeds to Chao Yue.
Ling Feng waved his hand: "I said I’m not a deity; I’m just an ordinary person."
Ling Feng mentally griped: Damn, you all are the real deities. One who punches through decades of eastern purple aura, one who can even fly on a sword; isn’t this what a deity is?
Upon hearing the words "from another world," Chao Yue’s eyes suddenly brightened, and the foolish expression on his face vanished. The whole person seemed to clear up.
"Are you really from another world?" Chao Yue stared at Ling Feng, saying seriously.
Ling Feng looked at the suddenly upright old man, instinctively standing up straighter too: "I do come from another world."
After hearing this, Chao Yue nodded, murmuring: "I never thought Master’s words were true. Besides the nine regions, there are indeed other worlds. The vastness of planes is truly beyond the understanding of frogs at the bottom of a well like us..."
Ling Feng heard Chao Yue’s somewhat vague words and was quite astonished in his heart, unable to resist asking: "Daoist, does your Master know about the existence of other worlds? How did he learn about them?"
Chao Yue was still muttering something, but upon hearing Ling Feng’s question, he turned his bright eyes: "My Master naturally knows. He long ago transcended this world, what’s called ascension here,"
"Everyone thinks he’s dead, but only I know, he merely touched the peak of this world and jumped out..."
Ling Feng was even more shocked; he never thought there could be such a prodigy in this world.
"Then Daoist, do you know any way to leave this world, or does your Master know?" Ling Feng asked urgently, as this was his main purpose and current paramount task for visiting the temple.
Chao Yue shook his head a few times, seeming to fall into confusion again. Then suddenly, he grabbed Ling Feng’s arm, shouting: "Do you want to leave this world? Then come with me to seize the treasure of the nine regions!"
"As long as we get that treasure, leaving this world is not difficult!"
