The Greatest Village Doctor In The World
Chapter 2682 - 2681: Heading to the Daoist Temple
Chao Yun put down the teacup in his hand. He had just taken a sip of the tea, seemingly just intending to moisten his lips, without planning to drink it.
"So you really came from another world?" Chao Yun said with a hint of skepticism.
Ling Feng nodded. The two had had an in-depth conversation at Old Man Wang’s house and now had a slight understanding of each other’s world.
The world where the Taoist lives doesn’t have a specific name, only known to be divided into nine areas collectively called "Nine Provinces." Ling Feng was currently in Tianyi Continent.
But perhaps the Taoist’s status was too low, not yet reaching the level of knowing the world’s secrets.
The Nine Provinces world only has Human and Devil Clans. As for the elusive Immortals, many believe they exist, but almost nobody has seen a real Immortal. Some say as long as humans practice to a certain level,
they can ascend to become a god.
But these are just legends after all; the conflict between the Human and Devil Clans is the main theme of the Nine Provinces. Like the Devil Beast Ling Feng encountered last night was one of the Devil Clan.
The vast majority of the Devil Clan live in the Lands of Chasm, clearly separated from the Human territory, seldom stepping into Human lands. But recently, it seems to be unstable, with multiple malicious incidents of Devil Beasts attacking or even eating humans.
Several Devil Beast attacks have already happened at Dongzheng Mountain where Old Man Wang lives.
To protect the safety of ordinary people, Chao Yun’s monastery descended the mountain and constructed Arrays in the village below, each household also posting talismans, making those Devil Beasts afraid to invade.
However, once night falls, when the devilish nature and power are at their peak, the villagers must stay indoors and absolutely must not go out to attract the attention of Devil Beasts, or the consequences would be unimaginable.
Ling Feng had just finished listening to Chao Yun’s description and confirmed himself being swept into this small world by a Spatial Storm. This is definitely not the Three Realms, as there is no existence of Demon Clan or God Race.
According to Bi Tian at that time, the God Race should enjoy a high status in the Three Realms, and the Demon Clan’s notoriety is widespread. The Human Race is weaker but shouldn’t be ignorant of their existence.
Furthermore, Bi Tian’s map given to Ling Feng did not specify the existence of any Nine Provinces.
So Ling Feng was genuinely puzzled, not knowing who could be orchestrating all this, intentionally preventing Ling Feng from smoothly reaching the Three Realms.
"Did you just say you were going to another world, but accidentally ended up here with us?" Chao Yun asked again.
Ling Feng nodded, wondering if this little Taoist had a silly nature, asking again and again.
Chao Yun’s face was full of astonishment: "It’s truly inexplicable. I originally thought Nine Provinces was already vast, not expecting other worlds to exist, and being able to travel to other worlds is indeed bizarre and fascinating."
"So how do you go to other worlds, by walking? Or flying? Are you truly an Immortal, Master?" Chao Yun asked eagerly.
Ling Feng was somewhat amused, but still satisfied the curiosity of this possibly newly descended little Taoist: "I’m not an Immortal, nor do I fly or teleport instantly to other worlds, walking is even less possible,"
"I rely on a kind of spaceship, yes, a ship that flies, then pass through the Space-time Vortex of our world, entering a space tunnel. This thing is too avant-garde, we call it technology,"
"It’s the crystallization of thousands of years of human wisdom. If there’s no accident, your world might eventually develop to that level, though I estimate..." Ling Feng hesitated.
"Hmm?" Chao Yun was puzzled.
"I estimate the time needed for you to develop to that level might be quite long. After all, with Devil Clan constantly contending against humans, it significantly slows down your civilization’s development pace,"
"In the worst-case scenario, you might not master space shuttle technology for thousands of years."
"Ah?" Chao Yun was stunned, although he didn’t understand many parts, he was not foolish. Ling Feng was saying they might stagnate in this civilization for a long time, which wasn’t good news.
Seeing Chao Yun’s disappointed expression, Ling Feng still patted his shoulder and said: "But you don’t need to worry, these are future matters that you might not even participate in, and from what I see, your world has its own development rules."
"If your master can exorcise demons, construct Arrays, he is certainly someone of an immortal caliber, far ahead of the times. As long as people like him exist, the world’s civilization will progress rapidly,"
"Someday, you might also achieve space-time travel, not even needing other means, just relying on your own strength. With a single thought, you could execute World-breaking Transmission, which is far more advanced than us."
Ling Feng remembered Bi Tian’s means, this guest of the God Race tore open space cracks using his own power for long-distance teleportation. Such awe-inspiring methods indeed earned them the title of "God Race."
Chao Yun recalled his scruffy master, who often had a wine gourd and curse words in his mouth, finding it awkward. He hadn’t noticed his master being so formidable, wondering why Ling Feng held such a high opinion of him.
Seeing Chao Yun’s embarrassed look, Ling Feng didn’t know what the little Taoist was thinking, just felt the atmosphere seemed somewhat awkward, as if Ling Feng’s description of his own world had daunted Chao Yun.
"Ahem," Ling Feng coughed a few times, "If you don’t mind, I’d like to visit your monastery. Is that alright?"
Ling Feng’s words were completely sincere because his world barely had any monasteries. Even if there are some, they are mostly impostors engaging in frivolous transactions under the guise of Taoists.
Thus, although Ling Feng had some interest in Taoism, he greatly disliked those who don’t fit the identity of a Taoist.
Now that he had fortunately encountered a monastery that could truly exorcise demons, he definitely wanted to visit it.
Chao Yun paused, hesitatingly said: "Do you really want to see it, it’s not that I’m unwilling, but our monastery is quite ordinary, unlike other places that are grand and luxurious. You might be disappointed on seeing it."
"No problem, I dislike those grand places the most. A monastery shouldn’t be grand, just simple and serene, doesn’t need to be lavish." Ling Feng said hurriedly.
Chao Yun finally revealed a delighted expression: "I think so too. Although our monastery looks somewhat dilapidated on the outside, my master always says the ancestors preferred such places."
"If it were grand and majestic, bustling with incense and popularity, it wouldn’t be a monastery but a noisy place like an Imperial Palace or temple. He himself doesn’t like it."
"Unexpectedly, you think the same way. That’s wonderful! That’s indeed great!" Chao Yun seemed to have met a kindred spirit, his expression and tone were very excited.
"Then it’s settled; it’s already late, we can depart tomorrow." Ling Feng happily accepted Old Man Wang’s kind offer to let him stay overnight.
Chao Yun nodded and also stayed at Old Man Wang’s house.
Early the next morning, as dawn was just breaking, Ling Feng awoke. Due to changing places, it was hard to fall asleep, so he ended up meditating through almost the whole night.
Having entered the Selfless State, Ling Feng’s experience was no different from ordinary people’s sleep.
Ling Feng thought he had woken up very early, only to step outside and see Chao Yun already practising morning exercises, performing a set of fist techniques Ling Feng had never seen before. Although the moves were soft, performed by Chao Yun, they were full of energy!
"Does this fist technique have a name?" Ling Feng asked curiously.
Just as Chao Yun had finished three rounds of practice, he slowly exhaled and said: "This is a fist technique I have been practicing since childhood. My master told me to practice it a few times every morning, saying it’s good for strengthening the body."
"As for the name, my master never mentioned it, only saying not to ask too many questions, just practice it."
"But after these ten years of effort, I’ve had some insights. I call this fist technique ’Wuwei,’ implying the ancestor’s advocacy of ’the Dao of Nature, governing through Wuwei.’
Ling Feng carefully savored Chao Yun’s movements, each seamlessly connected, entirely cohesive, very natural, indeed worthy of the name ’Wuwei.’
Ling Feng extended his Divine Sense to inspect, only to find threads of purple energy flying from the horizon, entering Chao Yun’s body before his eyes. But Chao Yun seemed to feel nothing, just puzzled watching the stunned Ling Feng.
"Master?"
Ling Feng snapped out of it, smiled, and shook his head: "No problem, let’s set off right away."
Chao Yun nodded, and the two bid farewell to Old Man Wang’s family, embarking on the path.
Ling Feng watched Chao Yun’s back, moved deeply:
This little Taoist merely repeats the fist techniques taught by his master day after day, but he hasn’t noticed his body undergoing magical changes. Those purple energies coming from the east are rare essence of heaven and earth.
Clearly, this world is indeed very mystical, who could predict the future achievements of this little Taoist?
Perhaps continuing this Wuwei cultivation could indeed advance into the realm of Immortals?
