Chapter 1068: Chapter 877: Four Young Ladies Report In (Part 2)
But Uriel was practically going crazy: "Still haven’t seen Aimee?"
Raphael also realized something was off: "No! But is there a chance she used Invisibility and quietly slipped past those four believers at the entrance?"
Michael said, "Entirely possible. The four believers are fully focused on praying and probably aren’t combat-type elites. For a thousand‑year Enchanting Demon, getting around them shouldn’t be hard. As for regular players, there’s no way they’d see her."
Uriel was shocked: "She slipped into the city? What can she even do there?"
Raphael speculated, "Could it be she’s going to contact Andariel? They’re both Enchanting Demons anyway. Or maybe she’s going to take control of some official and put her so‑called art of deception into practice?"
Uriel was stunned: "If that’s what she’s doing, then her power is kind of terrifying."
Michael said, "The stronger she is, the better for us. Uriel, focus on the retreat."
...
Black Iron City, 5 a.m. in game time, the sky glowing with morning clouds.
The Church had organized all the city’s residents for a massive, multi‑hour prayer, all early shifts suspended. Even the villagers of Northern Fishing Port Village and the Fishman Guardian God were praying back in the village.
And this huge event was actually initiated and organized by a subordinate player of the Ten Lords from Gem City who didn’t have a single point of Black Iron reputation. If he hadn’t driven off the Peeping Immortal, the Peeping Immortal should have earned quite a lot of merit and reputation from this. Instead, Peeping got shoved aside with zero gains, and the resentment in his heart was beyond words.
What pissed him off even more was that the Little Mountain God kept reporting his cultivation progress to the Young Master from time to time—classic petty man getting his moment, utterly infuriating!
Just then, a subordinate on surveillance reported, "Leader, four girl NPCs just came out of the Teleportation Array, pulling rolling suitcases and dressed in really old‑school, gorgeously classical outfits! They look like Imperial noble ladies from an old version."
Peeping froze. What event did this just trigger now?
Whatever it was, he had to salvage something, so he hurried over.
When Peeping arrived, he saw a big crowd of players hitting on them and trying to talk. The girls were thoroughly annoyed: "Get lost!"
It had to be said, their classical outfits really were different from the current noble ladies of the Five Cities. And their tempers were huge. Perfect—this would filter out the average players.
Peeping flashed his title as Vice President of Shangri-La and his reporter ID, which he never showed to players, and squeezed into the crowd: "Ladies of distinction, is there anything I can do for you?"
The four glanced at him impatiently, but then actually looked twice: "You’re the vice president?"
Peeping answered respectfully, "Yes."
The leading lady, who had quite the presence, said, "We want to go to the Night Rose Tavern."
Peeping’s whole body trembled: "I’m a good friend of the owner, Vivian. I can take you there. But as you can see, Black Iron City is holding a massive prayer ceremony. Lady Vivian is currently organizing part of the citizens in prayer—she’s been at it for half the night—so she can’t return to the tavern yet. I can take you to the tavern first to eat and settle in..."
The young ladies paused for a moment, then all started talking at once: "She can organize prayers? Sounds pretty impressive."
"Let’s not go to the tavern yet. Let’s go see how this Lady Vivian organizes things."
"That works!"
"Wait, what if this guy’s a bad guy and leads us into some back alley to kidnap us?"
The chaotic chatter had Peeping breaking into a sweat. He quickly defended himself: "I’m the vice president, the Commerce Association vouches for me! And with a city‑wide prayer going on, no bad guys would dare act out right now!"
"Sounds reasonable. You lead the way."
Amid greetings from the nearby players, Peeping let out a massive sigh of relief: "It’s an honor."
And the young ladies kept their mouths busy: "Where does your Shangri-La Commerce Association rank in Black Iron City?"
"What triggered this prayer anyway?"
"Does Lady Vivian know a lot of people in the city? What rank is her tavern in the city?"
Peeping answered one by one, completely overwhelmed.
At the same time, he had to open his notebook and log their questions so his AI could analyze what kind of NPC template they were. Just from their personalities alone, you could find similar types among the temperamental rich ladies of the Five Cities. But having four of them as a group made things way more complicated. In theory, if he could win over the strong‑aura leader, that’d be enough—but that also meant at least one of the others would definitely dislike it and start opposing...
So this was the most annoying type of bestie squad ever! Right now, all Peeping could do was flaunt his identity while staying humble and cautious, absolutely not making any mistakes. He didn’t even dare ask about their origins or names.
At last, Peeping led them to a shopping plaza. In the square, vegetable trucks had been covered with tarps to form a makeshift high stage. Several Church personnel stood on the stage, directing thousands of kneeling citizens below in singing hymns.
Peeping introduced, "That lady in pajamas on the stage is Vivian. The situation was urgent, she didn’t even have time to change."
The four young ladies gave a little "Oh": "Too far, we can’t see clearly."
"Let’s go closer."
"No, let’s go onto the stage to see."
Peeping panicked: "Ladies of distinction, it’s a prayer ceremony, you can’t just go disrupt it!"
"We can pray too!"
"We’ll go pray by Lady Vivian’s side."
"Exactly. With our status, we shouldn’t be praying together with regular citizens."
Talking as they went, they pulled their suitcases and strode boldly through the kneeling crowd straight toward the stage.
Peeping was speechless. This was the Imperial Celestial Dragon People vibe all over again—utterly contemptuous of people and order. But getting in with them felt pretty nice too.
He decisively followed!
Then, right in front of the Priests, who were left dumbfounded and incredulous, the four ladies... got their suitcases stuck on the stage steps and couldn’t lift them up.
Peeping immediately stepped forward and whispered, "Miss, let me—"
"Move aside, this is a Lafront, you’re not allowed to touch it!"
The moment she said "Lafront," Vivian instantly lost her pious focus and turned to look down. She wasn’t sure what was going on, but still stood up and asked, "Should I help?"
The leading lady smiled, "Thank you, Lady Vivian. We’re here to pray too!"
Vivian asked in surprise, "You know me?"
"We came specifically to find you!"
The Priest coughed in displeasure.
Vivian gestured for quiet, then helped lift the suitcase.
As she lifted it, the leading lady suddenly caught sight of the ring on Vivian’s hand and her eyes flew wide open in shock!!
Peeping was a bit confused by what he saw, and happened to meet the gaze of that Ten Lords subordinate player from Gem City up on the stage. The guy just waved and motioned for Peeping to get lost.
This time, though, Peeping pretended not to see it. Before, he hadn’t realized this event would be such a big deal, so he backed off. This time, he was going all in. He couldn’t let that assimilated small‑timer hog the spotlight...
Ten Lords Chat Group.
The standoff between the Mermaid and the Guardian Demon God had dragged into complete garbage time, and the Lords had unknowingly dozed off in their cockpits.
Only Uriel, anxious as hell, was still forcing himself to stay awake. Maybe because they were getting close to the entrance, the regular troops from Shadow Stream City finally stopped chasing and withdrew.
Uriel had started with a few thousand on the retreat; now he had just over a hundred troops left. Which was actually fine—fewer people are easier to hide. The key thing was that he’d filtered out the true elites: the most enthusiastic bovine‑headed team and lizard team were basically all still here. But Uriel didn’t dare push on toward the entrance anymore.
So where the hell had Aimee gone? This so‑called art of deception—was she just deceiving him?
Just then, someone in the stream reported: "There’s something weird happening in Black Iron City. Four Imperial lady NPCs showed up looking for Vivian."
Uriel looked up. Weren’t those the same four noble lady NPCs that helped Chun push his cart? They’d arrived this fast, and they’d marched straight onto the Priest’s high stage?
Uriel figured he should remind the others: "Everyone... Sela! You’ve slept for a whole night, time to resurrect from Fak!"
Seeing no response, Uriel helplessly called for the butler: "Wake Sela up! Time to get back to work!"
