Chapter 161: Chapter 104: Borrowing Your Bodies to Make a Deal with the Ancient Immortal, Magical Artifact Lotus Platform
Let alone a Qi Refining cultivator, even an ordinary Foundation Establishment Cultivator wouldn’t necessarily gain any advantage if they encountered this Poisonous Fog. In the past, he had relied on this move and his Chains Magical Artifact—which he controlled as easily as his own arm—to defeat several formidable enemies at the Foundation Establishment Stage.
However, right now, his two best methods had been nullified. His Magical Artifact had already been destroyed by Lu Chen in just two sword strikes, and his Poisonous Fog had been dispelled by Lu Chen’s Divine Fire. His only remaining trump card was perhaps his "Ancient Immortal Body," which, after being partially assimilated by Ancient Immortal Power, was comparable to that of an ordinary Foundation Establishment Cultivator.
But could this body of his truly withstand Lu Chen’s sword?
Three seconds. From the beginning until now, he had already stalled for a full three seconds. He only needed two more seconds to complete his mission.
At this thought, Number 12 steeled his resolve. In a one-on-one fight, he admitted that he was absolutely no match for Lu Chen.
"But there’s no way I can’t hold you off for just two seconds!" he thought.
"ROAR!"
Number 12 roared in fury. His lower snake half instantly transformed into a chain-like tail that whipped fiercely toward Lu Chen. Hidden within the Poisonous Fog, the snake tail’s attack was incredibly stealthy; aside from a faint sound of piercing the air, it made no other noise.
Regarding this attack, Number 12 felt that even if it couldn’t pose a lethal threat to Lu Chen, it would definitely cause him a lot of trouble. However, this confidence did not last long.
Lu Chen’s vision seemed completely unaffected by the Poisonous Fog. As a massive amount of Vast Qi gathered on the blade, a five-meter-long beam of Sword Qi once again covered Lu Chen’s Ink Flood Dragon Sword.
BANG!
Lu Chen slashed out with his sword, not only severing Number 12’s tail on the spot but also tearing right through the layers of Poisonous Fog, chopping precisely toward Number 12’s main body!
He thought, "What!"
Seeing Lu Chen pinpoint his location so effortlessly, Number 12 panicked. He wondered, "How did someone at the Qi Cultivation Stage, who hasn’t even mastered Divine Thought perception, find me in the Poisonous Fog? Could it be those eyes...?"
Staring at Lu Chen’s Cyan Lotus-shaped pupils in the distance, this thought popped into Number 12’s mind out of nowhere. As for how to deal with the Vast Energy Sword, he was no longer considering it. After all, even Number 11, whose Power exceeded his own, hadn’t been able to block it. It was even more impossible for him. All he could do was wait for death...
BANG!
After a loud crash, Number 12 only felt a gust of wind blow past both sides of him. Then, deathly pale, he stared in shock at the Vast Energy Sword that had stopped a mere two fingers’ width above his head.
That was too close. He had almost joined Number 11 in the afterlife.
After Number 12 breathed a brief sigh of relief, the Vast Sword Qi instantly dissipated, turning into gusts of Qing Feng.
"Don’t just stand there! Hurry up and chop off his hands and snatch his Spirit Sword! I can’t hold on much longer!"
Number 12 turned his head, only to see that the eerie head on Number 6’s shoulder had already transformed into the face of a middle-aged man. The head was staring dead at Lu Chen, muttering something unintelligible. The chanting turned into streams of eerie Demonic Sound that surged into Lu Chen’s ears.
The Divine Technique, Demonic Sound—this was the method Number 6 believed could restrict Lu Chen. True, Lu Chen not only possessed outstanding attainments in Swordsmanship but also mastered a wide variety of Divine Techniques. However, he had a highly fatal weakness: his Divine Soul was far too weak. Or rather, he completely lacked any means, Magical Artifacts, or Magical Treasures to defend against a Divine Soul Attack.
Number 6 had discovered this right from the start when Lu Chen fell for his Human-Faced Drum without any defense. Although Lu Chen had later relied on his astonishing Power in the Sword Dao to cripple Number 11 in a single exchange and had immediately refined him using the Divine Skill Melting Furnace, that was only because Number 6 had been distracted trying to save Number 11, without intending to continue attacking him.
Thinking about it now, if he had ignored Number 11 back then and focused solely on using a Divine Soul Attack against Lu Chen, even if Lu Chen managed to kill Number 11, he certainly would have paid a steep price in the end. They wouldn’t have been pushed into such a miserable state.
Fortunately, it was better late than never; there was still time to mend the fold.
Staring at Lu Chen, whose Divine Soul was now lost and controlled by the Demonic Sound, Number 6 felt that everything should finally be over. As long as Number 12 chopped off his arms and took his Spirit Sword, Lu Chen, this Unparalleled Sword Immortal, would no longer pose a threat to them.
However, even though Number 12 was highly confident in Number 6’s Demonic Sound Divine Technique, Lu Chen’s previous performance had still left him with a considerable psychological shadow. So much so that even though Lu Chen was now standing motionless in place with hollow eyes, Number 12 still didn’t dare to launch an immediate attack.
After all, what if he was just faking it?
Seeing that Number 12 was still hesitating to act, Number 6 grew anxious.
"What are you staring blankly for? Do it now!"
It had to be known that the head on his shoulder had already aged from middle age to old age. In just a few moments, it would dissipate completely. If they didn’t strike now, once Lu Chen recovered, they truly wouldn’t have a single chance left.
Hearing Number 6’s urging, Number 12 snapped out of his daze.
He thought, "That’s right, I can’t drag this out any longer! After all, if this kid was really faking it, he would have killed me with a single strike already. How could I have survived until now?"
At this thought, Number 12 suddenly felt confident again.
"Alright, kid. I’ve finally caught an opportunity against you. You scared the crap out of me earlier! Once I chop off your sword-wielding hand in a moment, let’s see what you use to fight us!" he thought.
Number 12 walked up to Lu Chen and raised his arm high, preparing to use his hand as a blade to cleanly sever one of Lu Chen’s arms.
But just as his hand was raised and about to fall, a hand unexpectedly gripped his wrist.
Number 12 turned his head in disbelief, only to see a guy who looked exactly like Lu Chen standing beside him, completely unnoticed.
