The Fragrance of My Hot Patients
Chapter 418
Chapter 418: Chapter 418
Anna’s condition had improved dramatically ever since Chenyang treated her a couple of days ago.
Since that day, she had been asking to go out and earn some money to ease the pressure on Angie.
Angie knew Anna. Her younger sister had always been a lively and active person. Being cooped up at home while she was sick had been completely against her nature. Now that she was getting better, she naturally couldn’t sit still.
However, even if her intentions were good, she had ultimately done more harm than good.
Chenyang’s situation was already bad enough, and yet she helped Lin Jiji commit perjury. It was no different from rubbing salt in Chenyang’s wounds.
"Even if she meant well, you have to make her apologize to you afterward."
Chenyang waved his hand. "Sister Angie, don’t overthink it. I’m fine. In this confrontation with Lin Jiji, there’s no way I could lose. If Nana had stepped up to help me, it would’ve just made my victory even easier. So in a way, her showing up actually helped me."
"Even so, she..."
"Arrest him."
Before Angie could finish, a cold command suddenly rang out.
The one who gave the order was Zhang Hongtu.
The person he was pointing at was none other than Chenyang, who was standing at the bottom of the steps!
"What’s going on? They just whispered a few words and now they’re going to arrest him?" An Xiaoqing asked, completely bewildered.
Yan Rongrong frowned. "The witnesses and evidence must have fooled everyone. Plus, the shouting is getting louder. If they don’t take some action, they’re probably worried it’ll cause an even bigger disturbance."
"Even so, they should at least give Chenyang a chance to defend himself, right? But they’ve only listened to that group of people. Chenyang hasn’t said a thing yet," An Xiaoqing said angrily. "I’m going to find Vice Mayor Zhang."
"Don’t be hasty. We have a trump card to turn this around, so nothing too serious will happen. Besides, going to him now won’t solve anything. In this trap so carefully set by Lin Jiji, Vice Mayor Zhang can only go with the flow of public opinion for now."
Chenyang waved his hand, calming An Xiaoqing and the others, then proactively walked toward the two police officers.
"Kid, you’ve gone too far. If this were anywhere else, we wouldn’t just be cuffing you, we’d give you a good beating."
Chenyang sneered. "Gentlemen, believe it or not, the same way you’re cursing while cuffing me now is how respectfully you’ll be uncuffing me later."
"In your fucking dreams. With the way things are now, what’s waiting for you is the judgment of the law. The next time these cuffs come off, it’ll be when you’re heading to a detention center or prison. And the people there? Their character isn’t as good as ours."
"Heh."
Chenyang gave a faint smile. He didn’t resist or argue, simply cooperating as they put on the handcuffs.
However, just as the police were shoving him forward, a voice familiar to many suddenly rang out from outside the crowd.
"Let him go!"
The abrupt shout instantly drew everyone’s attention.
When the crowd looked toward the source of the voice, they saw a middle-aged man walking out from the direction of the inpatient department.
"Who’s that?"
"He looks a little familiar. I think I’ve seen him on the local news."
"I remember now! I think his surname is Lin. He’s a major leader in the Yangcheng City Government. His name is..."
"Lin Yongkun!"
The man approaching was none other than Lin Xiaoyue’s uncle, Lin Yongkun!
His appearance caused a stir. Some of the people around Zhang Hongtu stepped forward to greet him, while others addressed him with expressions of respect.
"Old Lin, weren’t you seriously ill? The city has already contacted the provincial hospital for you. Why aren’t you resting in your room? What are you doing out here?"
Zhang Hongtu and Lin Yongkun were members of the same administrative body. They had known each other for over a decade, and Lin Yongkun had even played a part in Zhang Hongtu’s promotion.
He also knew about Lin Yongkun being at the car accident scene and his subsequent diagnosis of a serious illness, but he didn’t know yet that the illness had already been cured.
Lin Yongkun shook his hand and replied, "My illness is basically cured."
"Huh? But didn’t they say the City Hospital couldn’t treat it?"
"I wasn’t cured by the doctors here."
"Then who was it?"
"Him." Lin Yongkun pointed at Chenyang, who was being held by the police.
Hearing this, a strange look flashed across Zhang Hongtu’s face. "He cured you? But he... he doesn’t have a medical license. Strictly speaking, he can’t even be considered a doctor. And on top of that, his character..."
Lin Yongkun cut him off. "Old Zhang, since when did you become so arbitrary in your judgment of people and things? Does having a license prove a doctor is skilled? Neither Hua Tuo nor Sun Simiao had licenses. Were their medical skills poor?"
"And besides, can you really judge a person’s character based on one-sided testimony?"
Zhang Hongtu frowned. "The witnesses and physical evidence have all been presented. How can you call that one-sided testimony?"
Lin Yongkun said meaningfully, "What if the so-called witnesses and evidence were all part of an elaborate scheme?"
