The Forest Feeds No Idle Goblins
Chapter 341 - 294: The Demon Fish’s Harvest
"An Intermediate Beast Core."
Shire wiped the bloodstains off the Beast Core's surface with a cloth, then examined it carefully. He had already obtained two Beast Cores on this trip. It seemed Magical Beasts were indeed very active in the winter.
This hunt gave him a new understanding of these creatures. 'If you use the right methods, hunting them only takes a little more effort than hunting ordinary animals.'
He understood, however, that this only applied to Intermediate Magical Beasts. Stronger ones would likely present more problems, and as for the even more powerful Evil Gods, he would still have to deal with them cautiously.
Now that he had reached an agreement with the Frogman Race Leader, he just had to wait to kill the Feathered Serpent Evil God and take the City of Ten Thousand Races. Shire couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement at the thought of owning a city in the forest. Although it couldn't compare to Torch City or the Merlot Clan's territory, this was something he had earned through his own efforts.
"In terms of sheer size, though, my territory in the forest is already larger than the clan's." He smiled and tossed the Beast Core to a subordinate, telling him to put it in the Worker Ants' cart outside the cave.
Besides the Beast Core, the Bottom-dwelling Demon Fish had also been hastily dismantled by everyone. Its entrails and meat were inedible, but the fish skin was usable. If the fine scales were scraped off, it could be used as a base material for Rune Speech, but it needed to be taken back for the craftsmen to process.
Compared to the fish skin, Shire found the Fish Bone to be even better. The bones of the Bottom-dwelling Demon Fish were not only hard but also very resilient. After taking a heavy blow, they only deformed slightly before quickly springing back into shape.
Furthermore, Shire had Centaur Oreco test it with several strikes. Swords made of Fine Steel couldn't harm the Fish Bone. If Red Eyes hadn't been using a Longsword with a Magic Effect back then, it probably wouldn't have been so easy to kill this Magical Beast.
The meat of the Bottom-dwelling Demon Fish had now been completely stripped away, leaving only some remnants in the crevices of the skeleton. "So many bones," Shire's gaze measured the entire fish skeleton, especially the head. He spread his hands to size it up and couldn't help but click his tongue in amazement. "What a huge fish head."
It was a bit of a waste that such a large fish head couldn't be made into steamed fish head with diced chili. But after Oreco struck the head with a hammer, Shire discovered the thing was unimaginably hard.
Not a single mark was left on the Bottom-dwelling Demon Fish's skull. The sound of the impact even had a metallic ring to it. "This thing is a real iron-head. Anyone hit by a head-on collision with it would be as good as dead."
Thinking back to the scene of Wa Er San Wu Qi Yi being chased by the Magical Beast, Shire couldn't help but shake his head. 'But now, it's all mine for the taking. This entire skeleton is perfect for making Armor.'
Shire had been wondering how to get a set of Armor for Giant Demon Caocao. The creature was three meters tall, and now that his physique had recovered and was no longer gaunt, he would be no different from a humanoid tank if he could wear a full suit of Armor.
However, Caocao also had the Regeneration skill, which placed certain requirements on the Armor's material. It had to be something that didn't break easily and was also resistant to deformation.
Shire had considered Metal Armor, but he quickly rejected the idea. The main issue was that metal, once bent, doesn't spring back. After Caocao's Regeneration finished, the deformed Iron Armor would inevitably hinder his movement.
But after seeing the bones of the Bottom-dwelling Demon Fish, he felt he had found the perfect raw material for Caocao's Armor. The Fish Bones were not only hard but also resilient. As long as it was crafted properly, he believed it would meet his requirements. Especially the hard skull—if it were made into Shoulder Armor, then a high-speed charge from the Giant Demon would truly be like a tank.
"Red Eyes, take a few men and carry this fish skeleton outside. Be careful not to damage any part of it," Shire instructed his subordinate earnestly. He was afraid Red Eyes would find the whole skeleton too troublesome and just chop it into several pieces with his sword, which would be a complete disaster. "Remember, don't damage any part of it."
Red Eyes scratched his scalp, muttering, "Such demanding requirements," and walked over to the goblins to carry out his leader's order. Meanwhile, Shire turned his gaze back to the pitch-black pool.
'There's still one more thing to deal with: the Rune Speech down there.' Shire muttered to himself as he walked toward the Frogman Race, and Fulu automatically followed him.
The Frogmen were no longer as agitated as before. They had calmed down, a great weight lifted from their hearts now that the race's mortal enemy had been killed.
Some Frogmen even gathered around Wa Er San Wu Qi Yi, asking him what it felt like to be pulled across the water's surface by the rope.
A moment ago, Wa Er San Wu Qi Yi had been pulled so fast that he practically skimmed across the surface of the pool. Although he was constantly spinning, it was certainly a novel experience.
"It felt very strange," Wa Er San Wu Qi Yi said, standing among the Frogmen with his chest puffed out and belly held high. He stood with his hands behind his back, a look on his face that seemed to say, 'I may have looked a mess, but wasn't I cool?' "At first, I couldn't control it and swallowed a few mouthfuls of water. But that strange fish quickly caught up, and I immediately remembered what I had to do. I gradually got used to it, ribbit."
Shire stood outside the crowd, not wanting to interrupt the Frogmen's lively conversation. In the middle of the group, Wa Er San Wu Qi Yi wore an expression that said, 'Only I can do something like this. None of you are up to it.'
He even overheard a few Frogmen saying they wanted to try it too, which made Shire shake his head. 'These guys have been cooped up in this cave for too long. Any little new thing can pique their interest.'
