The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 2005: The Space They Need

The Oracle tried her vision again, focusing on something specific for a few seconds, before letting out a disgusted noise, and smacking the side of her head, as if she could physically eject whatever it was that she just saw.

"I take it that this one was not a good vision?" Karl asked.

"No, this one was not a good vision at all. However, it was the past, I know that much, and I even know who it was about. There was an attack on one of the New Home Elders about a year ago if my vision is right.

He was attacked in his own suite, and fought off the enemy."

Karl frowned. "And that was scary enough that you wanted it out of your head?"

"Oh, that wasn’t the problem. He was in the shower when he was attacked, and I really didn’t need that mental image."

That made Karl chuckle. "Ah, I can see how that would be more than a little disturbing, depending on which Elder it was. I forget to ask about these little things. But not all of them are built in a way that will look good naked.

It does seem like your visions have calmed to the point that they are no longer traumatizing, though. That’s a good start.

I don’t know if it will stay that way when you’re across town from us, but if your people would like to set up, I can arrange to rent you a space in town."

The Cleric nodded. "Thank you, that would be perfect. We can work out the price once we see the location. It doesn’t have to be huge, we were only planning to move some of our more troubled here.

However, if it was suitable for use as a World Dragon Chapel, that would be wonderful."

Karl hadn’t thought about that.

They had a huge number of clerics, and he hadn’t built any other temples or shrines in the city yet. That was something that he should probably do, just so that they could properly worship their deities.

Though, he wasn’t really one to speak.

He was an Avatar of the World Dragon, and possibly the least pious of the God’s titled followers.

Or the most.

He might not pray, but he did tend to follow the World Dragon’s tenets pretty well, since they were mostly "Do the fun thing, see what happens". Either that or "protect the fluffy thing".

Karl distinctly recalled the System, which was created by his patron deity, telling him to boop Lucille on the nose when she advanced. If that wasn’t proof that the world dragon had a soft spot for fluffy things, then the Bunnies would be the deciding factor.

But it seemed pretty clear.

"There is a place not far from the Guild House that we can arrange as a temple. It will need a bit of renovation, but I can bring out a couple of people and have that done in under an hour. Would you like to see the spot?" Karl offered.

"You can make a proper hospital and recovery facility in an hour?"

Karl laughed. "I’m a Pet Sitter. I can make a temporary one with a snap of my fingers. An hour to make the physical structure shouldn’t be an issue."

The cleric was clearly skeptical, but Karl headed for the door, and Dana helped their guests to their feet.

"It should be more than sufficient for a small temple and recovery area for Oracles. We can also put the bedrooms in a separate space, which might help with the visions. Being isolated from the world muffles many tracking skills, so it should work on visions as well."

The Oracle frowned as the clerics led her forward, trying to be subtle about the fact that they were guiding her through the city.

Karl stopped at a building only two blocks from the Guild House.

"This is the spot that I wanted, do you think that it’s suitable? Ignore the building itself, we will change that, and give you a proper temple. But it’s got a low wall to keep people from wandering off, access to the main road shopping district with only a minute of walking, and enough open space to the sides that you’ll see if someone tries to break in.

Of course, I can have the Supreme Ranked members put up a barrier to keep intruders out. But if you’re going to operate as a Temple, you have to expect guests.

So, most of the barriers will be internal, not on the whole compound.

Other than that, I think this building should be very well suited to your purposes. If you don’t have any objections to the location, I will get right to work. You can start bringing your people over, if you would like."

"That might be an issue. You see, it takes us at least six hops to get back to Coracas. If you can do it in fewer, that would be amazing, but it will take a few days for us to get someone home, and then the return trip with a bunch of blind and traumatized Oracles," the Priestess explained.

Karl frowned.

"Can you do the thing where you show someone a location with a touch? If you can do that, I can likely open the portal. There are advantages to being a World Dragon Avatar. One of them is an extremely long portal distance."

The Cleric gestured to the Oracle, who got the ability to show things they had seen as part of their class skills. They couldn’t match visuals in the world against their foresight, so showing others the visions were the only real ways to do it.

The image of a port city, with a temple by the docks, next to the fish packing plants, appeared in Karl’s mind the moment that the Oracle touched him.

"Ah, I see where it is now. It’s a bit sketchy, since the Oracle can’t see everything in between, but I should be able to open a portal there. Give me one second."

A massive surge of mana flowed from Karl as he opened a portal to a spot nearly seven thousand kilometres away. With the restrictions of the Immortal Worlds, he might as well have been trying to open a portal to the moon back in the mortal world.

But it worked.
