Chapter 2940: Make a Note First, We’ll Have a Talk Later

"Brother!"

"Carson!"

Carson Flores had just returned to the manor when he saw Samantha Tate and Niall Sinclair chatting in the courtyard. Upon seeing Carson, they both stood up with delight.

Carson smiled and asked, "What are you chatting about?"

"Talking about cultivation."

Samantha Tate smiled and said, "With the battle approaching, we’ve been cultivating diligently to improve ourselves. When we step onto the battlefield, we aim to become your strong support, to help you and not hold you back."

Carson laughed and said, "That’s great, honestly you guys might be more formidable than me. In the future, you’ll have to protect me!"

Niall Sinclair chuckled softly, "I heard you offended quite a few people at the War God Mansion this time?"

Carson replied indifferently, "For me, offending others is a regular occurrence. If there ever comes a day when you notice that I haven’t offended anyone, that’s when you’d find it odd."

Samantha Tate and Niall Sinclair both laughed.

They knew Carson’s personality all too well.

When venturing outside, if one doesn’t learn to compromise, in this world of survival of the fittest, one is bound to offend others. But Carson is someone who consistently refuses to compromise.

Why should I back down? Why don’t you give way?

If I lacked ability, then I would have no choice, but if I’m skilled and have support, why should I have to yield?

Now that Carson has two Quasi-Saints by his side, for him to not walk with arrogance or bully others is already considered humble and peaceful enough. And yet people still dare to bother him?

Don’t they know how to spell the word "death"?

As Carson’s entourage of powerful individuals grew, Samantha and the other women were no longer as worried about him as before. Instead, they felt somewhat sympathetic towards those who provoked Carson.

Carson dares to provoke even Quasi-Saints, and yet you think you can provoke him, my man? How dare you!

"Tell us, who provoked you?"

Carson recounted the entire story. Upon hearing someone actually sent people to assassinate Carson, the two women were instantly angry: "They definitely can’t be let off easily!"

Carson smiled and said, "I’ve been on the move recently. Carradine was with me, so I haven’t had the chance to interrogate them. I’ll check it out later and see what’s going on."

Samantha Tate’s eyes lit up, "Let’s go together!"

"Alright!"

Carson summoned the Ethereal Pagoda, Golden Light spilled over, and the three disappeared from sight.

In the Abyss, a white-haired elder lay stiffly on the cold ground, looking up at the distant light above, filled with deep regret.

Why did I voluntarily take on this task?

When I was first captured, I was still hoping my family could track me down and rescue me. However, so much time has passed, and not a single person has come to save me. I’m afraid I’m utterly finished.

This magical treasure can surely isolate tracking. Otherwise, the family wouldn’t let me fall into Carson’s hands, as it would expose their identity and reveal Taliesin Compton behind them.

Just as he was engulfed in despair, three figures descended from above the Abyss. Leading them was Carson, accompanied by two young, stunning women.

Carson carefully examined the restrictions on the man’s body before speaking, "Tell me, who are you, and who sent you?"

The white-haired elder deceitfully argued, "It’s truly a misunderstanding. We were really capturing the White Moon Beast..."

Carson sighed, "At this point, you’re still trying to deceive. Do you think it matters? You’ve already entered here; do you think you have any chance of leaving alive?"

The white-haired elder felt a chill run through him, "Since I’m destined to die, why should I admit to imaginary crimes?"

Carson nodded approvingly, "Indeed, you make a valid point. Since you’re going to die anyway, why not remain bold and preserve your identity and your backers, at least safeguarding your family..."

Listening to Carson’s smiling words, the elder felt an inexplicable surge of coldness within.

Carson paused and said, "The reasoning is indeed sound, but perhaps you’ve forgotten that sometimes, wishing to die yet unable to can be the most tormenting experience."

"I’ve heard that soul-searching is incredibly painful, like enduring Purgatory, where each minute feels like a century. Since you’re not speaking, I don’t mind using soul-searching."

"You tried to kill me, I suppose I don’t need to show mercy. Right?"

Fear shone in the white-haired elder’s eyes. Having lived for so long, he naturally knows the cruel sights of soul-searching, vividly remembered. But whereas he once inflicted such pain on others, today it’s he who suffers.

"If you let me go, I’ll tell you the truth."

Carson shook his head, "You tried to kill me, so how could I possibly let you go? You’re quite old, yet still so naive?"

The elder gritted his teeth, a complex expression on his face, as he endured intense mental conflict.

Samantha Tate sneered, "Don’t waste words on him. Just soul-search him; we don’t need evidence, just to know who it is."

Carson nodded, "Quite right."

Carson stepped toward the elder, extending a finger that pressed against the elder’s forehead.

The elder’s pupils suddenly contracted, and fear overwhelmed him like a tide.

As soon as pain began in his mind, the elder couldn’t hold back any longer and screamed, "Taliesin Compton! It’s Taliesin Compton who sent us!"

Taliesin Compton?

Carson withdrew his finger and calmly asked, "Tell me more."

Having spoken up, the elder ceased to struggle, indifferent to life or death, merely hoping to avoid the horrors of soul-searching.

"I’m Jayson James, from the James Family in White Plain. Recently, Taliesin Compton suddenly visited the Compton Family, discussing a business deal for the James Family. Then he mentioned how you shamed him at the Military Supply Office, claiming you made the Compton Family ashamed, and now you’re leaving while he can only watch..."

"He didn’t explicitly ask our James Family to deal with you, but his implication was clear. He visited our James Family right when you were leaving. It’s evident he wanted us to help remove you."

"We’re aware of the Superior Grade Great Land Prime Immortal by your side, so we sent two to intercept you. We’ve disguised ourselves and used ordinary magical treasures, so even if we killed you, it couldn’t be traced back."

"That’s the situation. We thought it would be simple and easily accomplished, but who knew you had a Quasi-Saint at your side..."

Jayson James couldn’t help but curse, "Taliesin Compton has truly wronged me. If not for his faulty information, how would I be in such a dire state now?"

Carson nodded, calmly asking, "What’s the strength of your James Family in White Plain? How many Great Land Immortals, and among them, how many Prime Immortals? Tell me everything, make it clear..."

Jayson stared at Carson in horror, "What do you intend to do?"

Carson smiled faintly, "Just gathering information. I’ll keep it in mind. We’ll talk to your James Family later..."
