The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard
Chapter 2917: You Haven’t Even Seen the Demon Race, and You’re Pretending in Front of Me?
Steward Roth was anxious and angrily shouted, "How did I smear the Compton Family? Don’t talk nonsense!"
Carson Flores turned his head to stare at Taliesin Compton, "Sect Master Compton, may I ask, who is the Compton mentioned on the Immortal God Stele to you?"
Taliesin Compton was suddenly filled with anger in his eyes from Carson Flores’ stare.
What do you mean?
Are you investigating my ancestry?
He really wanted to reprimand Carson Flores, using his power to bully, but the crowd of onlookers was growing, making him a little fearful.
If this incident gets out and the Compton Family’s reputation suffers because of him, the elders at home might skin him alive and tear him apart!
Taliesin Compton gritted his teeth and said, "My maternal great-grandfather!"
Carson Flores asked, "Have you ever participated in the Immortal Demon War, personally slain demons, and made meritorious contributions?"
Taliesin Compton’s complexion changed drastically; he roughly knew what Carson Flores meant to say, yet the conversational control was entirely with Carson Flores now. His momentum was completely suppressed by Carson Flores’ righteous indignation mixed with grief.
He bit his lip, replying, "During the last Immortal Demon War, I was not yet born... but this time, I have caught up with it and will certainly strive wholeheartedly, emulating my maternal great-grandfather, resisting the demon invasion..."
"So you haven’t, then!"
Carson Flores spoke directly, interrupting his righteous declaration, "Although I’m new here and unclear about the exact merits Compton won, his name on the Immortal God Stele speaks volumes!"
"If Compton were here today to receive supplies, he wouldn’t need to cut in line; I would certainly let him go first, out of respect, for the heroes I admire most are those who sacrifice themselves for others!"
Carson Flores hadn’t finished, but Taliesin Compton’s face was already flushed red with barely concealed anger, for he knew what Carson Flores was going to say next.
Carson Flores stared coldly at Taliesin Compton, saying, "You’ve never seen a demon, achieved no merits; what qualification or face do you have to cut in line?"
"Is it merely because Compton is your maternal great-grandfather, allowing you to shamelessly ride on his coattails, enjoying various privileges?"
Taliesin Compton, enraged, retorted, "I’ve never seen demons; have you?"
"Indeed, I have!"
Carson Flores calmly stared at Taliesin Compton, "Not only have I seen them, but I’ve also killed at least several hundred!"
This statement from Carson Flores shocked everyone, with eyes all fixated on his face in disbelief.
The buzzing discussions around them suddenly vanished.
The entire courtyard fell into an eerie silence.
Steward Roth turned his head abruptly, staring at Carson Flores in shock, his expression full of incredulity.
He killed demons?
Hundreds?
Is this true or false?
He appears very young!
Taliesin Compton’s face completely changed, equally incredulous, "Impossible! That’s impossible! Judging by your looks, you’re not that old; the last Immortal Demon War was ages ago, how could you have participated?"
Carson Flores sneered, "When did I say I killed demons during the last Immortal Demon War?"
Taliesin Compton laughed, seemingly catching a flaw in Carson Flores’ words, "The Immortal and Demon Worlds are separated, aside from the Immortal Demon War, where else would you encounter demons? Are you suggesting that demons sneak through the Immortal Demon Passage to someplace else, where you encountered and then defeated them?"
"Indeed!"
Carson Flores flashed a slight smile, "You’re correct; that’s exactly it."
Taliesin Compton mocked, "Master Flores, even if you’re fabricating a story, try to do it convincingly. If there truly were hundreds of demons, such a significant event, how would the War God Mansion not know? Besides, what power do you have to slay hundreds of demons alone? You indeed don’t know how to tell tales."
Carson Flores looked at Taliesin Compton, smiling slightly, "How do you know the War God Mansion doesn’t know about this?"
Taliesin Compton’s mocking expression suddenly froze.
"The War God Mansion is aware of this matter?"
Carson Flores replied calmly, "Could it be that you, in the Compton Family and at the War God Mansion, are actually not as important as you think?"
Carson Flores’ words slapped Taliesin Compton’s face like a resounding slap, causing his face to turn crimson.
What are you pretending to be?
Such a significant event, yet you’re oblivious; are you really that capable?
If your status were genuinely high, truly formidable, you wouldn’t be unaware of this.
Taliesin Compton gritted his teeth, glaring at Carson Flores, "Who exactly are you?"
Taliesin Compton’s question was clearly not about Carson Flores’ name but his background and origin.
Carson Flores calmly looked at Taliesin Compton, "Majestic Sect Master Carson Flores, I’ve just taken the position for a few days, but this appointment was given years ago, due to slaying hundreds of demons, thwarting their smuggling plan thus earning military merits for the position."
Pausing, Carson Flores casually added, "Oh, by the way, my sect master position was personally appointed by the Hall Master..."
