The Exiled Lord: My Maid is a Battle Goddess
Chapter 451: Divine Chosen Council(1)
Name: Aikalia
Divine Artifact: Song of the Tides (Small Harp)
Plays a beautiful melody that alters the mood of everyone who hears it. While performing, it can also create a small area of rainfall around the user.
Divine Skill: Overture of Surging Tides (Provides all allied units within a certain range with an attack boost for thirty minutes. Against opponents of the same tier, it increases attack power by twenty percent.)
Talent: Amphibious Adaptation (When coming ashore, she can transform her mermaid tail into a pair of human legs, allowing her to move normally on land.)
Territory Bonus: Fish growth and production increased by 5%. The chance of shellfish producing pearls increased by 2%.
"A large scale buff skill. It does not just benefit Divine Chosen, it can also enhance ordinary soldiers. Combined with the territory bonuses, this is quite impressive. She can handle logistics while also supporting us in battle."
Phield was absolutely delighted. He rubbed his hands together in satisfaction.
"From now on, we activate the buffs the moment we meet. If we keep stacking our stats like crazy, sooner or later, even an ordinary soldier will be able to slay a dragon with a single slash."
His territory was desperately short of support type Divine Chosen.
"Are you really not disappointed in me, my lord? I cannot fight. If I fail to live up to your expectations, then..."
Aikalia looked at him with tears in her eyes, clearly worried.
In her mind, mermaids were nothing but a burden in Nightfall Domain. She was terrified that her lord would eventually become dissatisfied with her.
"It does not matter. Leave the fighting to the others. I have been lacking a support type Divine Chosen."
Phield immediately perked up.
"And I am about to launch a campaign against Dawnfall Territory. You will definitely have a chance to shine. Come, join my war council."
"Oh, okay."
Aikalia was still somewhat anxious, but she agreed without hesitation.
"I still do not know how to walk properly. Could you support me?"
With that, Aikalia tried to climb onto the shore.
The moment her hands touched the ground, divine power enveloped her mermaid tail. The tail transformed into a pair of slender, fair human legs.
Fortunately, Phield had already sent the soldiers back to the barracks to rest. Otherwise, he probably would have died of embarrassment on the spot.
Phield stared in amazement.
"I will get you a skirt."
"Ah, ah!"
Aikalia blushed furiously and hurriedly covered herself.
"I am embarrassed. Please, my lord."
Phield found Nina and had her quickly adjust the measurements of a maid uniform. Before long, he had dressed Aikalia in a maid outfit.
Looking at the little maid sitting in the water, Phield tilted his head thoughtfully.
From now on, he would not only build a battle maid squad. He would also need a logistics maid squad.
"I will support you."
Phield kindly held out his hand.
"Thank you, my lord."
Aikalia slowly reached out. The moment her hand touched Phield’s, she flinched as if she had been shocked, then quickly tightened her grip.
Supporting Aikalia, Phield helped her onto the shore.
"So this is what it feels like to stand up. Mm... I cannot quite control the strength in my legs yet. I feel like I need to pee."
Aikalia’s legs trembled as she struggled to adjust to life on land.
"Just do not get it on me."
Phield was sweating profusely as he held her hand and guided her.
"Come on. Try taking a few more steps. I am holding you."
When they returned to the castle bedroom, Phield opened the door.
Inside, Rosalia was wearing a nightgown and rolling around on the bed with a pillow, looking utterly bored.
"Ah! Phield is back."
Rosalia happily sat up before throwing the pillow at him.
"Do not forget to knock next time. If you dare be rude to this lady again, I will punish you by making you drink my bathwater."
"This is ridiculous. This is my room. Why do I have to knock? Is there no justice in this world?"
Phield was utterly speechless.
"Who is she? Is she food for me? She looks delicious."
Rosalia licked her lips.
"Phield, you are so nice. We Calamities love eating this kind of thing."
"Eek?"
Aikalia was so frightened that she hid behind Phield, peeking out timidly with only half her face visible.
"My lady, stop scaring her. She is a newly recruited Divine Chosen. Help me tidy up the room. I have called everyone here for a meeting."
"All right~"
Rosalia shrugged her snow white shoulders and reluctantly got out of bed.
There were too many low tier slaves in the territory. Almost everyone with even a little administrative or cultural knowledge had been assigned to manage and train them. Even Phield’s own students had gone to help.
As a result, Phield could not gather enough people for a proper meeting.
He had no choice but to summon the Divine Chosen first and hold a Divine Chosen council.
Many people believed slaves were a wonderful resource, like gold, and that the more you had, the better.
But slaves were not beautiful, dirty girls from an anime who could become capable after taking a bath.
Real slaves were more like a pile of skinny, skeletal wrecks.
After plowing a couple of rows, they would be gasping for breath. When moving bricks, they would struggle to carry even one between two people. Even if you whipped them until they spun like tops, they would eventually have no choice but to simply die.
Slaves needed time to learn practical skills and receive basic education. They also needed to be gradually nourished with proper food until they regained healthy physiques. Only then could they return to the status of free citizens and become productive agricultural or industrial workers.
Therefore, turning slaves into free citizens required enormous investment and a great deal of time.
The greatest advantage of slaves was simply that their training cycle was shorter than raising children from birth.
Before long, most of the territory’s Divine Chosen had gathered.
"Is everyone here?"
Phield looked around.
A large group of beautiful women surrounded him. Some had incredibly long legs, while others had impressive figures. It was quite a sight.
Phield did not even need to introduce Aikalia. The others quickly became acquainted with her.
He raised both hands and gestured for everyone to quiet down.
Ashina reported,
"Miss Tisiana could not leave her post. She has to remain stationed at the border fortress and the mithril mine outpost to prevent a surprise attack. Other than her, everyone is here."
The various outposts across the territory needed to be guarded, and they generally operated on rotating shifts.
"Gherlos, how have you been finding the work at the city hall these past few days?"
Although Gherlos was a Kill Divine Chosen, she was extremely intelligent. She had also been born into a noble family and was highly capable when it came to administration.
The territory was not short on people who could fight, but it was desperately lacking people with intelligence.
"Reporting to my lord, everything is going well."
Gherlos proudly patted her chest.
"It is hardly a challenge for me."
"As expected of you. I will bring you along the next time we go to suppress a rebellion."
Phield paused before asking,
"How many children from the previous batch successfully awakened?"
"Six. Here is the list."
Gherlos handed him the list.
"They all possess non elemental magic. Though, it does not seem to matter much. Their magic attributes can be changed later. The territory has lightning attribute tea trees and wind attribute bird eggs, both of which possess the power to alter a person’s magic attribute."
Phield let out a pained sigh.
"Thirty two people, and only six awakened as Magic Knights."
Magic Awakening Potions were extremely precious and practically impossible to purchase on the open market.
Gherlos sighed as well.
"Who could have expected otherwise? You can squeeze them as hard as you like to make up for the losses. You can even squeeze me as hard as you want for emotional compensation."
"Hahaha, absolutely."
Phield laughed as he flipped through the list.
"Tate’s daughter awakened after all. With that aggressive personality of hers, I figured she would become a Magic Knight too."
