Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Tournament begins

"Did... he just drag the corpse of a Supreme Realm beast here?" someone from the crowd couldn’t help but ask as the others gulped.

A short-haired man with a calm expression walked through the crowd as they parted, giving him way.

"Makle... number 1 on the ranking, Peak of the Sovereign Realm, combat capability???"

"This is interesting..." In the crowd, Ronan grinned as he muttered.

Not only him, but some people, instead of showing the fear and shock shown by the multitude, were excited. This included the top ten and some hidden players.

The instructors also had smiles on their faces as the guests present in the arena were amazed.

They never expected that in just a month, the camp could have created a monster like this... no, not created a monster, but tapped into the potential of a monster.

Maybe this camp can keep functioning after all.

"So when will the battle begin?" At one of the private stands, a man calmly asked as Instructor Kali bowed.

"In a moment. Their opponents are being drawn. In a few seconds, the battle will have started," Instructor Kali said.

"Good... At least with this kid, you guys have a better chance of surviving," the man said calmly as Instructor Kali smiled.

For them, this tournament was not just about the rewards or rankings, but... one could imagine the length of the arguments, fights, discussions, and the like they had to go through to create a camp where nobles descendants could die and not be avenged.

A camp where your connections didn’t matter, whether you were from the royal family or a member of the emperor’s family.

Part of the reason this was agreed upon was the movement of the Orcs, plus the Elves at the rear.

After how many years of humanity staying at the top, even at one point being able to contend with the two sides at the same time...

Their decline had come.

Humans were lacking sufficient geniuses. The other two races were having geniuses bloom like flowers. Their lower and middle strength was growing stronger, and with that, new experts were being added one after the other.

Meanwhile, the human race seemed to have hit a wall. Their lower and middle-level strength was waning.

That was why the suggestion for this camp came forth in the first place. Today was a day for the higher-ups to see how well this crazy idea was actually faring. Was it doing good? Was this a shit-ass plan?

"Kali... for your sake, don’t let me down. I heard about the death toll..." The man said calmly as Kali’s expression rapidly changed.

---

Back at the arena, everyone was directly grouped based on the numbers on their wrists.

Two people had to face one being: the one with the number below and the one with the number directly above.

With this known, the 800 people had been roughly divided into just over 400.

"You can begin... starting from the top ten," the man said calmly as everyone gulped.

What kind of tournament was this? You were saying the top ten should fight first? Why?

But when the battle began, they understood.

"I forfeit."

"I forfeit." ℴ

None of the top ten fought, the same as the top 50. Everyone gave up.

Everyone felt they were fools until new information was passed by. You see, everyone had three chances to secure their ranks.

They knew just one battle couldn’t decide one’s rank.

So even if they forfeited, they had two more chances, and that was more than enough for them.

All this was for the battle to change. With the top 50 forfeiting and some of those hiding their powers, some people were pushed forward. You could only be defeated a maximum of three times before your ranking was finalized, which meant even if you started from the lowest level, as long as you didn’t lose three matches, you could keep fighting.

Soon, people’s rankings were changing so quickly that the top 500 were basically a non-stable zone. After your battle, you might be in the top 200.

Then, five matches later, while you were resting, you might find yourself in the top 400. It was rapidly changing, but it was finally time for Ronan to fight.

He stepped into one of the smaller rings as his opponent came to him.

A large treasure was used like a giant TV that displayed the matches below. It was divided into ten parts, with the central part being the largest square, only it was plain.

The tenth and largest arena was kept for when only the top 200 remained, as their battles would decide the rankings and treasures, so only nine rings were used for now.

"Give up. You still have two more chances," his opponent spoke as Ronan remained silent.

"You may begin." Only when the instructor serving as the referee spoke did Ronan make his move.

Eight-Star Sovereign Realm aura erupted as his opponent’s face changed.

This was a secret evildoer. He wanted to give up, but it was too late.

Bang!

He directly flew out of the arena as Ronan dropped his leg calmly and walked off.

500 ---> 492

Ronan’s ranking changed as he walked off the arena calmly.

As for Hesa and Yen, they defeated their opponents with a single attack as their ranks changed.

But...

The three ranks dropped down again. The competition was intense.

At first, the three lifelines seemed like they would make it slow, but not everyone could walk away from the arena. Some were so seriously injured they couldn’t fight anymore, while some were just a thin line away from death.

The cruelty of this camp was seen in full display as, one after the other, people’s ranks began to stabilize.

As those winning with a single attack made the gap evident, they also sped up the competition.

Five hours later...

The sun was high in the sky as noon arrived.

At this moment, more than five hundred people had been eliminated, their rankings fixed.

This showed how terrifying their powers and speed were. These people could shatter the sound barrier. Their battles were quick, and with the occasional huge gap in power, the battles were short.

Now it was time for the top 200 to step into the large ring.

Yen and Hesa really surprised Ronan as they shot upwards into the top 500. The way they used their abilities was leagues above the way they used them before, and that gave them an overwhelming advantage.

But now that those battles were gone, it was time for the top 200. All the guests sat up as they seriously looked at the arena. At least, so far, they knew the camp was a good thing.

Even with just this much, they could relate back to the Emperor, and this camp would continue. They would just have to prepare some condolence gifts for the families of the dead.

"The next will not be a one-by-one fight but a battle royale. The ring is large enough to hold 200 people but small enough to hinder you from hiding. We don’t just want to see you be able to defeat one person, but what if you are in the midst of enemies? What can you do? How strong is your battle awareness?" Instructor Kali stood up and said, his voice booming across the giant arena.

Hearing this, everyone’s expression changed.

A battle royale?

Although confused, they still followed as they entered the two-kilometer-long arena.

Meanwhile, the instructors and guests waited patiently.

This was more like putting them in the atmosphere of war before they went into war.

In war, when you are battling with the other geniuses of the Orc race or those of the Elves race, you won’t be having a one-on-one battle. You could be fighting five people simultaneously, and at any time, you could be sneak-attacked and lose your life.

But there was one thing all these geniuses didn’t know, and that was that just joining this camp had put their lives in danger.

The instant they graduated and left this camp, they would be hunted by mercenaries and assassins of the other races.

A tradition of enemies killing the cubs before they fully grew to become adult lions.

They had to survive, and that was their future trial . For now, they must first do well in this battle.

Ronan looked around. At the very least, the weakest here was at the Seventh-Star Sovereign Realm, but more than that, everyone could at the very least take down a King Realm beast.

That was the horror.

In this ring, Ronan wasn’t just fighting against Sovereign Realm humans, but he was in the midst of King Realm monsters.

The same was true for everyone. Their hearts couldn’t relax even one bit.

Everyone looked at one another warily, watching and scanning for the weakest and the most dangerous.

But no doubt, everyone gave the top ten space, and most especially Makle. More than a hundred meters of space was created around him.

"So let it begin," Instructor Kali spoke as the two hundred humans attacked simultaneously, and the air was shattered along with the sound barrier.
