Chapter 2357: The monster that stood above the King of the Root
Chapter 2357: The monster that stood above the King of the Root
What appeared before the King of the Root was a massive gate.
It was the Scarlet Throne.
Yet as it opened, it did not reveal a dimension where countless souls were imprisoned. Instead, what unfolded was a realm overflowing with weapons—an endless sea of blades, spears, hammers, and halberds, each radiating a unique aura.
"Chaos of the Scarlet Throne!"
Cain roared, and with his voice the void itself began to tremble. Scarlet light surged outward, and countless portals manifested across the emptiness. From each of them, a figure began to emerge.
Radagon’s eyes widened.
He saw the True Primordial of the Void, the powerhouses of the Scarlet Kingdom, the super powerhouses of the Six Sacred Races, and every single lifeform that had taken part in the Invasion of the Heart of the Root, all those who had once fought side by side with the Scarlet King.
"GATE OF BABYLON!"
Cain roared again, unleashing the Unique Ability he had obtained upon reaching Ego Above Reality—a power that carried every iota of his existence, the essence of all those connected to him, and the power of the universe itself.
In the next instant, all the phantom figures transformed into weapons.
They rained down upon the King of the Root.
A spear carrying the Primordial Force of the Void struck first, blasting into Radagon’s chest and driving the air violently from his lungs. Before he could recover, a lightning-wreathed lance flashed forward at shocking speed, piercing through his shoulder.
At the same time, two swords—one infused with radiant light and the other soaked in blood—slashed into his abdomen. A crimson hammer descended upon his head, while a halberd coated in pale plasma carved into his waist.
Six weapons—corresponding to Anark and the super powerhouses of the Six Sacred Races—struck Radagon simultaneously with overwhelming force.
And then came the rest.
Weapon after weapon collided with the King of the Root, blasting him deeper and deeper into the surface of the mutated and corrupted world. Each impact shattered corrupted land and sent shockwaves rippling through reality itself.
Horror finally appeared in Radagon’s eyes.
The speed at which his body was being torn apart was faster than the rate at which he could heal.
"Am I... going to die?"
The thought crossed his mind before he could stop it, and terror flooded his heart.
That terror was a delight to the Scarlet King.
In truth, even Cain himself was surprised by the sheer power of the Unique Ability granted by the Lucid Dream. It far surpassed the three Innate Abilities empowered by Resurreccion, and by an overwhelming margin.
But Cain did not allow himself to be distracted.
He had come to make a display of power—but if he could end Radagon here, that would be even better.
He pushed forward relentlessly.
The rain of Chaos Weapons grew even more violent.
"BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!"
A cascade of explosions echoed across the surface of the World of the Root. When the devastation finally slowed, Radagon’s body had been reduced to little more than his chest and head, embedded deep within the corrupted land.
Yet just as it seemed the King of the Root was finished, the world itself shuddered.
From the heart of the corrupted planet, a new figure emerged.
He was massive—an abomination of draconic and fiendish features. Armor had fused directly into its flesh, forming jagged plates that pulsed with corrupted power. Enormous bat-like wings unfurled from his back, each beat capable of sundering space-time itself. His arms were thick and monstrous, each one wielding a massive axe, as though he could bear the weight of entire worlds.
With strength that defied reason, the creature swung its axes.
Each swing obliterated entire volleys of Chaos Weapons.
Cain’s eyes widened.
He had never seen this entity before, yet its soul aura was unmistakable. It was one of the two beings that had managed to cross through the Gate to the Emptiness.
"I don’t know about its power," Cain muttered inwardly, "but when it comes to ferocity, this monster is even worse than the Ancient One."
Just as he had gained the power to overwhelm the King of the Root, one of the true leaders of the World of the Root had revealed itself—an embodiment of the world’s monstrous nature.
Rather than fear, Cain felt his killing intent explode.
If he could take this creature down, the war against the Root would be all but won.
Roaring, Cain pushed the Gate of Babylon to its absolute limit. Ignoring the volleys of Chaos Weapons being destroyed, he burned through his energy and summoned once more the weapons embodying Anark and the superpowerhouses of the Six Sacred Races.
The creature’s eyes widened at the sight of those special Chaos Weapons.
But instead of dread, he displayed a savage smile filled with bloodlust.
His body erupted with power. Putrefying arteries bulged beneath his flesh like writhing worms, forcibly pushing his strength to an even higher level as he charged directly into the Chaos Weapons.
"BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!"
Six catastrophic explosions erupted, each carrying the force of a cataclysmic bomb.
Blood spilled from the creature’s mouth. The arteries in his arms burst under the strain, spraying corrupted ichor into the void. Massive internal damage ravaged its body—but it did not slow.
He merely licked the blood from its lips with a long tongue and flashed a feral grin.
Then he surged forward.
Volley after volley of Chaos Weapons shattered as the creature closed the distance, his axes tearing through attacks that would have annihilated lesser beings.
Cain’s eyes bled as he continued to fuel power into the Gate of Babylon. Pain lanced through his soul, but he endured, focusing every fragment of his will.
However, even under the power of that barrage, the monster that stood above the King of the Root managed to push through, appearing right before Cain the next second.
His smile grew wide and ferocious as he raised his massive axe, ready to cut the neck of the Scarlet King.
