Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Like a Greedy Little Hamster

Nan Feng reported the matter to Rong Ling, who raised an eyebrow coldly: "Too much melon? I suppose she doesn’t want to serve me dinner."

Nan Feng immediately shook his head and replied, "Prince, I think the Princess Consort truly seems uncomfortable."

Rong Ling snorted coldly and as usual went to the Purple Bamboo Pavilion in the evening.

Inside the Purple Bamboo Pavilion, Si Qi was asking Feng Qing, "Princess Consort, are you really not eating tonight?"

Feng Qing touched her belly and smiled, "Eat, how could I not? If I don’t eat, I’ll definitely be too hungry to sleep tonight."

"But you said earlier that your stomach was uncomfortable."

"Even if it’s uncomfortable, I can still eat two bowls. Go to the kitchen and get me a bowl of tender steamed egg custard, and a serving of thousand-layer shrimp dumplings. Oh, and have them make bamboo shoots chicken soup, and tell them to choose tender bamboo shoots, not those tough ones that are hard to chew."

As soon as Feng Qing finished speaking, a voice outside the door interjected, "Did the Princess Consort not say she had a stomachache and didn’t want to eat? I was just thinking about calling a doctor over to check."

Feng Qing, originally reclining on the Noble Consort’s couch in the resting room reading a medical book, looked up at the sound and saw Rong Ling looking at her with displeasure.

Feng Qing, recalling the excuse she had made earlier, immediately smiled and stood up properly.

"Prince, my stomach really did hurt earlier, but now it’s better, so I thought about eating something; otherwise, I won’t be able to sleep."

Rong Ling coldly laughed as he looked at her, his deep black eyes full of understanding.

Feng Qing looked down, avoiding eye contact with the Prince, and thought to herself, wondering whether she had offended him again and how she would be punished.

Unexpectedly, Rong Ling didn’t punish her, but simply said in a deep voice, "I haven’t eaten either."

Feng Qing watched as Rong Ling turned and walked out. So he came here tonight just to have her serve him dinner.

Feng Qing pulled a face and muttered silently to herself, "Pervert."

Yet she obediently followed Rong Ling outside, where Nan Feng had already set up the food, an entire table full of dishes—not too many, but all looked delicious.

Even though Feng Qing had eaten melon in the afternoon and wasn’t hungry, seeing the dishes made her unconsciously hungry. But realizing she had to serve someone now, she properly stepped forward to prepare to serve him.

After all, she ate so much melon in the afternoon, so she’s not hungry now; serving is not a big deal.

Just as Feng Qing thought this, the man sitting beside her spoke up: "Sit down and eat, this time you don’t need to serve."

Feng Qing looked at Rong Ling with an expression of surprise—she doesn’t need to serve? Is he really this nice? But her eyes couldn’t help but light up.

Rong Ling lifted his eyes and saw the woman staring at the dishes on the table with delight, looking much like a greedy little hamster, her eyes darting back and forth.

This side of Feng Qing amused Rong Ling, soothing his upset feelings from the afternoon.

"Sit down and eat."

Feng Qing immediately nodded and sat down opposite Rong Ling, picked up her chopsticks, and started eating.

Si Qi and Si Hua on the side of the flower hall watched in horror. The two maids were desperate to grab the Princess Consort’s hand, thinking the Prince hadn’t moved his chopsticks yet, how could the Princess Consort have started eating first?

Feng Qing didn’t understand the rules at all. She only thought since Rong Ling let her eat, then eat she should.

Unbeknownst to her, her two maids were frightened, while Rong Ling opposite her ate dinner with her as usual after his initial surprise.

Because Feng Qing was enjoying her meal, Rong Ling unexpectedly found tonight’s dishes tastier than usual and ate half a bowl more of rice.
