Chapter 57: Chapter 57: As If Facing a Great Enemy

Caiyun responded, turned around, and walked out to deal with those women.

Feng Qing lay in bed for a while longer, and after the daylight became bright, she got up, had breakfast, and wandered around the Prince Mansion to confirm that Rong Ling had left the mansion.

She quickly returned to the Purple Bamboo Pavilion, made up an excuse to send Si Qi out, then entered the room, sewed the silver note to her underclothes, and tied a few medical books to the back of her waist. After she finished these tasks and was ready to leave.

She noticed it was already noon, and worried whether Rong Ling might come back for lunch, which would be troublesome if she ran into him.

So Feng Qing decided to leave after lunch, to see if the Prince would return or not. If he didn’t come back, it would be the perfect time for her to leave.

While eating, Feng Qing instructed Si Qi to find out Rong Ling’s whereabouts.

"Go see if the Prince is coming back for lunch?"

Si Qi thought Feng Qing had some business with the Prince and didn’t think much of it, responded promptly, and went out. Before long, she returned to report: "To answer Princess Consort, I asked Housekeeper Lin, and the Prince said he wouldn’t return for lunch."

Feng Qing was overjoyed upon hearing this and looked at Si Qi, saying, "Get a carriage ready, I want to go out and buy some things."

Si Qi happily responded and went out to instruct the maid to arrange for the carriage and horses, completely unaware that Feng Qing intended to leave, which made Feng Qing feel a bit guilty.

However, Si Qi is Rong Ling’s chief maid; even if she ran away, Rong Ling wouldn’t go so far as to kill Si Qi.

If there is an opportunity in the future, she would definitely repay her.

Having made up her mind, Feng Qing left the Regent Prince Mansion with Si Qi.

A carriage was parked in front of the mansion, and as Feng Qing appeared with Si Qi, the coachman jumped down from the carriage: "Greetings to Princess Consort."

Feng Qing nodded and was about to get into the carriage when she heard the sound of hooves coming from not far away, and instinctively looked up to see Rong Ling’s carriage slowly approaching.

Feng Qing’s expression instantly changed to one of dread, her heart skipped a beat, and she unconsciously clenched her fingers, trying hard to calm her breath.

Before Rong Ling’s carriage reached the door of the mansion, Nan Feng, who was next to the carriage, reported to Rong Ling.

"Your Highness, the Princess Consort seems to be leaving the mansion."

A cool and crisp voice came from within the carriage: "Hmm."

A slender hand lightly lifted the curtain of the carriage, gazing at Feng Qing outside.

Feng Qing immediately put on a smile and greeted Rong Ling inside the carriage: "Your Highness is back."

Rong Ling glanced at Feng Qing’s face, the spider on half of her face contorted and distorted because of her smile, and he couldn’t help but frown—so ugly, yet she was his Princess Consort and really couldn’t be looked at directly.

Feng Qing was unaware of Rong Ling’s thoughts; seeing him frown and look at her with a hostile expression, she instantly felt as if facing a great enemy, quickly thinking to herself, could this man be suspicious of her? No, impossible, she must stay calm.

Having thought so, Feng Qing smiled brightly again and said, "Your Highness must be tired, go inside and rest. I’m going out to buy some things, I’ll be off first."

With those words, Feng Qing intended to get onto the carriage—better to leave early.

But behind her, Rong Ling’s phoenix eyes narrowed unconsciously, feeling that this woman had some tricks, wondering if she was planning something again.

Rong Ling’s lazy yet chilling voice sounded: "Come here."

In front, Feng Qing had one foot on the carriage, and the other on a small stool, just about to get in when she heard Rong Ling speak, and felt so annoyed, wanting to pretend she didn’t hear the man’s words behind her, but she also knew, since he spoke up, there’s no avoiding it.
